TL;DR: Developer has abandoned the project to pursue his passion of drawing gay furry incest porn.

Developer hasn't released an update for Rack 2 in over half a decade. He was making over 20k a month for most of that time. And he still couldn't have been bothered to release a simple teaser regarding the update he is allegedly working on. Is the developer actually working on the game? Probably, but he is definitely not working on it regularly. As he puts it in his patreon, he often works on smaller projects to avoid burnout from specifically working on Rack 2. One of these projects is a game used for testing sex toy integration, a feature he wants to implement in the "upcoming" multiplayer update for Rack 2. Another one of these projects is a homoerotic furry comic depicting incestuous father-son activities, which he really does seem to have a burning passion for. That teaser, first and last of it's kind in over half a decade of alleged development, was released over a year ago, never shows anyone joining the hosted game and contains more information regarding the animations he was more keen to work on than the game itself. Actions speak louder than words.

Awaiting this game to be updated is about as retarded as awaiting Half-life 3 to be released.

To update: Developer reached burnout with issues dealing from using a system that's nearly a decade past. At a group gathering a few months ago, he lamented stating that in order to continue, he'd need to update the game fully to the newest unity engine (something he doesn't want to do due to assets he using; things will break) or remake it (something else he doesn't want to do). So its fair to consider this abandoned and that he's just sucking money out of his patrons. Which to be fair he's made so much money over the years that (like 20k a month for a decade) he'd never have to work again.

The engine had been outdated since the game came out. The models are shoddy and the animations are awful. But people saw how flashy the lighting was and thought it looked like a great game, when in reality it was crap.

I remember he was making a fortune and published an Excel file so that people could translate the game for the love of art. A cheeky bastard, really.

Multiplayer involved a fair amount of rework/remake and now I'm distinctly disappointed as this would seem to imply that the multiplayer teaser was genuinely just a menu mockup and that level of lie insults me.

That's all he does. Wine wine wine but still readily rakes in Patron money. Wake up people.

To be fair, this was the only game of its time when it came out, and furries are very forgiving as long as you indulge in their niche interests. Frankly, Anthro Heat is the only other furry game that scratches a similar itch so it still is unique in its own way.

Does suck that Fek isn't planning to refactor the code and revive the project, and definitely milked supporters for cash while development stalled.

I remember the excel sheet haha! I was one of the few who did put on it, but that was a LONG time ago. Unfortunately, now his patreon is just to feed his yearly gauntlet of fur cons (seriously he goes to all of them) and to buy Sochi suits every few years.

But yes. There really was no reason for why he didn't get a team together to make this game. He was/is making well enough money to fund it and still be able to live comfortable.

In fact, they sabotaged it several times. They posted things like “have your mother translate it for free” and deleted the content completely. I don't know if it's still there or if he finally gave up and took it down. What a jerk.

Sucks that Fek stopped working on this game. Like most furry NSFW indie games. They never finish, and end up being an unfinished, unoptimized mess. This game could have been something great, and instead was abandoned by a guy who just makes up a bunch of excuses so he can resume doing his mediocre art.
