Well, of course fictional is fictional, and speaking as the killer of a couple thousand (if not more) visible fictional characters and millions of people I ruled and millions more who were ruled next to my realm: There are differences and "it's fictional" is not a cover all excuse for what happens.
But either way: talking about the life of fictional characters is perfectly fine. Will Harry marry Hermione? (spoiler: nope). Why didn't Frodo just use the Gwaihir express to Mordor? How comes this portrayal of Batman is completely against type? Why is Wesley Crusher so annoying? - Perfectly normal conversations amongst fans and other interested people. That's how we engage with a story. If we didn't care about fictional characters, the hero defeating the villain in that final fight would have no meaning, since all the millions of people saved are only fictional anyway, who cares?
