It's basic economics really. You want food, drink, sex and other pleasurable things. To get them you need servants. After all, even if you wanted to do all the work your self you can hardly plow the fields, feed the animals, tend to the orchards and grape plantations and generally do all that work at once. Especially not with giant dragon hands. That's what serfs are made for.

Now, issue is those serfs have needs too. They need to eat and drink, they need shelter and protection from both bandits and foreigners. And the people providing those needs have needs of their own. So even a small demand like a good roast pig suddenly becomes a giant logistical problem once you add it to all your other demands.

Now, the traditional way to get around this is to pay for the finished goods and just ignore the supply chain making it someone elses problem. But we are a motherfucking dragon. WE ain't giving our loot to nobody. So kingship it is.

The overall setting seems to disagree with you. What with there seemingly being an organization or church hell bent on killing all dragons, there being no other dragons around etc... Yea.. killing dragons is apparently easier than we'd like to think.

And either way, humans are dumb. They'll try even if they can't win. And no matter how hot our fire we can't kill them all. And even if we could, what than? Ruling in hell is all well and good, but when it's a hell of our own making complete with nothing but charred corpses but nobody alive to enslave things get rather dull rather quickly.

An organisation bent on wiping out dragons are already the enemy regardless of what kind of ruler he is. Witches and elite hunters have no bearing on the idea of a popular uprising. And a few morons fucking around and finding out will very quickly get the rest to keep their heads down. 'Humans will try even if they can't win'? Humans are attached to breathing. Most people won't try, a few people will and them getting torched or eaten won't turn the kingdom into a barren wasteland, he'd have to really go out of his way to do that.

Problem thing about those dragon killers is that they are quite zealous and suicidal, so even if they are just a small numbers of people does not mean they aren't extremely dangerous. Not just that but if they have experience in killing adult dragon that might live up to thousand years then our dragon boy better prepare for the worst case possible, and beside them I'm not surprised if lot of countries later will focus and put him as a world ending threat that need to be deal with and will join forces to do so

I think this is what Ravager will be in the future, because conquering a country is 1 thing but rule it effectively are another. The dragon so far have show that he was a great conqueror, but will he be a great ruler? That would depend heavily on us players to shape him up and make him to become either a merciful king or a tyrant, which in return to make the whole continent prosper or leave it in ruins. You are a motherfucking dragon alright, but you too need to know how to not just use brute force to make people obey but how to be flexible and even taken a few steps back to win over not just the people but every fractions within his court. I'm not surprised in the long run every once loyal allies he made before will slowly betray him or tie with the rebels to fight back when their benefit got harmed

Yeah I want to see how the pale convocation Reacts. Especially considering in my playthrough I got Valzira, Heloise, Maelys and just to put the cherry on top Got Malice too. I feel like relations wont be good But I'm all for it! A lot of cool stuff that can come from this. The elf characters are going to get some awesome moments from this. I Hope the non-elf characters get their moments too. I feel like Malice is going to be the most interesting part with the pale convocation. Excited to see how it plays out!

Of course, a lot of eyes are on the upcoming major release, on the 3rd September. We're in the final stretch - our coders and playtesters are working furiously to get everything in, tested, and polished in time for then. This is our first release that will be twinned with
