I feel people are taking the Marie-Anne transformation into extremes, its still pretty early into the cataclysm all things considered, so far the only other sign of transformation came from a boy that wished to fly and got wings.
It makes some degree of sense for her to turn into some kind of beast person since most of her scenes seem to indicate she loves animals, lets give the dev the chance to show what they are working towards before going fully into "This is the consequences of your actions!" She had one scene.

I really hope this does not affect Valzira. Only reason she ain't fully in the danger zone. Is because the human torso gives it just enough "hmmmmm

We don't know if its permanent, if its not, what caused it outside of the birth of a naga, as pointed we are probably going to get some type of explanation in a future update.
