You know what's even lazier and done to death, a generic harem game where the MC fucks every girl without even trying.

Don't even bother. They just hyper-fixate and are incapable of introspection or original thought. Any project they attach themselves too they'll proceed to white-knight, attacking any and all opposition, regardless of how well founded the criticism actually is. Their go-to thought ending cliché of a counter argument is always some variation of 'if you don't like it, go make your own game!'. So don't engage with them in good faith, cause they're not here for actual discourse.

- This episode focuses on getting to know the characters and their backstories, so the pacing is a bit slower-
How about appreciating the good faith of this developer who makes branching exclusionary paths for the girls while showing a totally distraught MC accepting any and all sympathy from some people who are open to find out about his story.
The choices to go and see this or that game path will exclude the others, so this is a thought out game with meaningful choices where MC is starved to build up his safety net of new friends and close connections as he was forced to leave everyone and everything behind when he moved. MC is not broke, but is not particularly established emotionally and socially; therefore, he is used to sleeping over. Not bad for a new start, especially at the bottom of the barrel.
