omg the "game" is so bad.
the character models look really bad.
the animations look bad and are usually not even synchronous and the worst thing is the performance, I have an RTX 3050ti and get just 40 FPS on low graphics setting... wtf
don't waste your time downloading it

Maybe if they understood not everyone runs a supercomputer and discovered optimization. wasted the hours downloading at 100kb just to get three fps on the lowest graphics. and this doesnt even look good with all the fancy stuff other games i play have that get 60fps so this is just made crappy.

A picture book is Quite literally a book with nothing but pictures, like babies get before they can read. As I said, VN is a misleading term in this case.
It's what we are stuck with. If you can't accept that, then try to change it.
A single comic is a comic. a collection of comics bound in one volume is a graphic novel. So to me, a digital version of a graphic novel is a kinetic novel. Visual novel makes little sense to me as a computer game.
A graphic novel, a kinetic novel, and a Visual novel are all the same to me. Something you read that has pictures and no decisions to be made.
What is called an AVN or VN is a computer game. All console games are not called VNs, yet the same thing happens in them.
It is a story where you make decisions that lead to possibly different endings. A Game.
Think your responses through before you post. You make yourself look ignorant.
More people play renpy games becuase they aren't very demanding on the hardware, doesn't mean players prefer renpy, most don't even know what game engine is.
I won't argue whether VN is a correct term for VN but most people call VNs VNs and those that have no story are referred to as kinetic novels (why, no idea, it's a dumb name but that's how those with no choices are called). Don't think either are games really.
Life has choices but it isn't a game.

We, humans, will debate whether the sky is blue. (No, the sky is more of a Light turquoise)
Why is a Strawberry called a Strawberry? because someone called one that, and it stuck in the language lexicon.

I would like to take a survey on why people prefer renpy. (Easy on the hardware) would be at the bottom.
I prefer Unreal Engine, but not as a stupid picture viewer. Sadly most games made with UE are vapid bimbo protag games where you get used by mobs left right and center. Not many are male protag, and most certainly won't let you go on a rampage with your dick like the mobs in the other games.Semantics

Each engine has its pros and cons. I personally like renpy because I like the more normal looking character type games.
They are relatable to me. I'm not a fan of walking your character from room to room from a 3 person perspective.
But I do like a 2D cartoon type game once in a while. everyone has preferences.
I play a lot of FPS so anything with a first person perspective comes natural. If I could get more games like Last Hope, I'd be a happy camper. However I do agree that Daz and VaM models in renpy usually look more natural (unless the developer exaggerates proportions, which thy most often do(not a fan of that)).
Interesting point and quite true, it seems like a lot of Unreal games being made are shooters, usually very bad ones, that might be because Unreal is harder to code games for but comes with the whole schematic/logic blocks system for building games and it is quite capable of doing shooters and FPS games, even comes with templates for FPS games which might be helpful in getting such games of the line in terms of development, usually of poor quality unfortunately.
Unity is simpler which is why more good 3D games get made with it but someone who knows how to code in multiple languages and is actually skilled at making games should be capable of making decent ones with either engines.
Hopefully now with the Unreal's new character generation capabilities built in we'll start getting more good looking games made with it, more realistic, less bimbos like in Last Hope
