Played: Reboot Love 1 More Time [v0.9.9] [Reboot Love] / Minor updates for v0.9.95

Rating: 3.5/5 (Rounded up to 4) 3.9/5 (Appreciate the small update for v0.9.95)

Quick Summary: You play a generally good-natured failure of a high-school student with a superhero secret identity. There are three main girls that you can have relations (sex) with and a few support characters but development on all of them falls short (Well this is Part 1 apparently). While the game has some choice it is mostly between failure or success with stat check fights sprinkled in. Failure may result in death resulting in you ‘rebooting’ with extra stats depending on previous run. Continue until you reach true end. As far as I can tell at least one reboot is required to get true end (Most likely you’ll need more as I did).

Tip: Configure your Renpy skip choices (I usually have after choices selected but not unseen). You don’t want to waste time rereading text you have already seen. You’ll be doing a lot of skipping in this game even if you read everything once.

    Pros:

-Female models were nice to look at

-Girl fight club has some nice eye candy.

-I did enjoy the running gag with the superhero name (Perhaps not super original but I liked it).

-Timeline on phone to see what events you have succeeded or failed at for a playthrough.

-Losing fights is not always a complete failure (Some minor scenes)

-MC name is now customizable (v0.9.95)

    Neutral:

-Fight mechanics themselves are straight forward and simple. It is mostly a stat check. If you are struggling it might just be time to lose and get the extra stats from the reboot. Trying to power through with save/load and RNG is often a waste of time. Max stats made fights easy.

-English starts off a bit rough and some words may be a little difficult to decipher (especially for nonnative speakers as translators will probably not work due to misspellings). It does improve as the game progresses. It is still understandable for the most part.

-Overall story could have been a bit better (Don’t expect much explanation of anything) but I guess this may be covered in Part 2.

-Girls are a bit generic in the personality department. Not enough time to develop them. Only student age love interests.

    Cons:

-MC is not nameable (Changed in v0.9.95)

-For a game about rebooting there isn’t really different ways to proceed with a new start that are meaningful (A few very small extra scenes). You are just rebooting until you win. Game is far more linear than I thought it would be.

-I feel teased that I could not pursue some characters in this game (Like the Aunt).

-School setting with no hot teachers!?!?!?

    Random Thoughts:

This game feels like (and probably is) more of a proof of concept and someone cutting their teeth on Renpy and rendering. This is not a bad thing necessarily (It is good to set limits). I liked the concept of the game on paper. However, in the end we get a mostly linear game and few characters to pursue. I expected to be able to make some whacky choices on the reboots but that is not the case.

Another problem is that in the end there is only one real path to ‘beat’ part 1. However, you don’t get a lot of choice in how you approach that. Some characters will treat you like a toy and you don’t have much choice in that. The girl with rape fantasies? I hope you enjoy playing along with that too. In my case I’m flexible and can enjoy this to a degree (Though I really wanted to be more dominate in the cousin’s case), but this may drive some players up the wall.

I can’t say for certain, but the creator may have had bigger plans for Part 1 but learned a lot during the development and realized rather than start from scratch to wrap things up and do Part 2 (There are even a couple scenes on the phone that are labeled as future content that I could not access). I have not played Part 2 but based on Part 1 I believe the creator learned a lot and will probably be able to deliver a better experience.

In conclusion I was a bit disappointed. However, I do acknowledge that this part 1 raps up in a complete, though not satisfactory, experience. I felt that everything was competently put together hence me rounding it up to 4 stars. I do have high hopes for part 2 which I hope to give a shot at some point.

Really fun game with simple mechanics. The sex fights are awesome and the game has clear progression system that feels very rewarding with a bit of strategy. There are definitely some typos though. Still one of my favorite games to date.

    Really 2 stars.
I played throw the game... 9 Times now. Yes I am sure because there is a counter for that. To be honest the last one was just for testing.

I liked the Art Style and the renders are good. I love Koikatsu.

The Story is an Anime Story about Superheros with Superpowers. So it is stupid, yes. It is not a comedy because I didn't lough, but it was entertaining and light-hearted.

There are a good amount of lewd scenes, and they are made pretty good.

The Characters are stereotypical for a Hentai Porn story with superheros. Well and good for some. They are annoying for others. Let's say they're really annoying at the start but become much better later in the game.

The Gameplay isn't a sandbox. It is more of an RPG VN. You have to LVL your stats and earn money, but you don't have to click around and find events. Between that, there are some boss fights against monsters. Except from the last one. They are all simple stat checks. Then you have Sex fights with the Girls in the club which are clearly inspired from "Erotical nights". I like that. But they are very easy.

Why do I give only 3 stars then.

The gameplay and story have a problem.
Gameplay wise it is a Groundhog Day, if you die you come back stronger. You keep your stats given how much you have proceeded in the story. It is impossible to get through in one run. This is fun for the first and the second run through but gets more and more frustrating. Stats aren't the Problem. The Problem is the choices. There are meaningful choices or Money thresholds you aren't aware of. And so I witnessed 3 Times the same content over and over again.

At this point I can't go on without spoilers. Be aware.

Who could have thought that you have to molest the second girl (she wants it, it is her fantasy) to be able to be promoted in the club. Two events who have nothing to do with each other.
Or if you don't have the Money at certain days you're not able to proceed with a girl, and you can't go back. This is not a sandbox.
If you miss that event, you can't molest the girl, and you play through again for another "reboot".

    Story:
There are three main girls. One girl can't be avoided. - 1 Star
The others can be avoided at least theoretical. Cough... Remember the Last Boss I talked about. If you don't have all the girls, you can't win the fight. Which means ignoring or avoiding them leads to a Bad ending and another loop.
Both girls are tied together. You need the second girl to get a massage from the third, and it isn't explained why.
Which means going further, you have to play through kinks you maybe don't like. I had to play through a lot of Femdom stuff(mostly teasing, but some bondage as well), others have to play through maledom stuff. So be aware. The BDSM is light enough, but it is there. - 1Star

The MC character is a switch. I always thought switch in stories are unbelievable, but in this it works good enough. What I dont like about him and the game. There are choices in the game where I say no and he says yes.
This annoys me in every game and is - 1 Star. The dev himself called him a pussy on discord.

Without a Walkthrough the game gets frustrating. It is by no stretch a bad game.

Now I am torn. Normally I would give it 2 Stars. But at least he tries to bring actual gameplay in. Wished we would have more agency. It is his first work. I give it 3 Stars.
With a Walkthrough the experience is much better.
If there is demand, let say from at least three people, I try to make one.
