VN - Ren'Py - Abandoned - Reluctant Archon [v1.0 Full Vss] [Kyois]

For sure, a very comprehensive world for this type of game. I believe he could write this as a novel book as well and it would sell! There are plenty of characters and intrigue going on to keep you busy and plenty of sex scenes to keep you happy.

I would give this game about 5 stars if not played Chapter 4. It's a big dissapointment for me. It feels kinda rushed and my language skill just not enough to understand about 30% of text. Overall for me story is good since I'm fan of fantasy setting. Graphics is OK, nothing special. So 4.5 stars for Ch.1-3 and 3 star for Ch.4.

I really enjoyed this game, or to be more exact, I really enjoyed the story. Other elements to the game are sadly lacking.

The Good:
- Excellent story with lots of interesting characters. If you love fantasy in a modern setting you will love this.
- An intelligent and believable MC
- Well written with no engrish

The Bad
- The girls are hot but some of the faces are a little off
- Sex scenes are mostly awful. The 'animations' are stilted and janky. Would have been better without them.
- Overall artwork ranges from okay to less than average. Some fight scenes were hard to follow due to poor imagery.

The Ugly
- In several scenes the MCs skin colour is just wrong, especially during sex.
- Female orc looks weird not sexy.

Overall I enjoyed the game and look forward to future releases. I can forgive a lot if the story is interesting and well written, which this one is. The graphics are a shame, especially the animations, but it's not a game breaker.

Got 3 complaints, firstly for the choices they not as free as i would have like...why couldnt we have F@#ked those ppl we wanted to, or refused to...given that it still leave us without enough energy...secondly dev needs to spen a lil more time on orc renders ( though its not too imorptant, am in this for story first renders last). thirdly it taking to long for next update...always the case with game you ar enjoying...if you can please give the dev some support. Given my complaints, they just a personal opinion, this game is absolutly worth your time and a playthrough even tho its still in early developments. hope nothing but the best for this dev, mainstream game can even benifit...only reason for a 4 star is what I'd call lack of interest in the myth renders ( maybe not as into myths as myself haha), they not as well done as the others especially nessa...hopefully more will be put into them in future releases, but still as i said story so far is exellent would read it if it were a book

I reviewed this game after finishing Ch.4 Part Two. Some harmless spoilers will be ahead, but they aren’t likely to affect your own experience so don’t worry too much.

The story has been fun and quite engaging so far, being a power fantasy wrapped within an urban fantasy story that draws some inspiration from the likes of “American Gods” and “White Wolf”. There isn’t much to be said about the story without revealing major spoilers, so just know that it feels like playing through a fantasy TV series.

Not all love interests are created equal as some of them either have too little screen time for now or just hasn’t been fleshed out yet. This is unsurprising given the story is still building up and this game seems to focus on the magical world rather than romance. Further character drama will very likely be part of the greater story later. For now, expect the love interests to exit frame after serving a narrative purpose. (note: If you have finished the main game, do try to find and play the side stories as they are part of the greater canon.)

Gameplay is solid, but the lack of background music in much of the game does make the story less immersive than it could have been. This is something that will hopefully change in later updates.

This game has a lot of promise.
+ Renders are beautiful
+ Story is very interesting
+ Characters are interesting
+ Girls are hot

Definitely a game to try out and watch, especially if you're like me and love supernatural set games. Hoping the dev continues to get well deserved support.

This game here, came across it purely by chance...and man am I glad I did !!
The models are amazing, the gameplay is very good the story just draws you in right from the beginning...

I will keep a close eye on this game give it a shot if you want. I think it is worth the time for sure

Seeing such a high rating for this game must have created pretty high expectations for me which is why I'm a little disappointed in it.
The sex scenes are pretty weak, mostly due to being really short. Maybe I was spoiled by other games which put a greater importance on this aspect, but it's an important one for me when I'm dealing with an adult VN.
Regarding the story setting, there are too many different beings in such a small scale game. You have orcs, vampires, Greek gods, Norse gods, elves, werewolves, satyrs, succubi, Amazons, sorcerers and probably other categories I'm forgetting about. If they were spread over tens of hours of gameplay it would be ok but this way it feels too crowded. I also hope your character won't become as powerful as a god although it seems to be going that way.
The graphics are also not top notch as you would expect from a game with such a high rating.
There are of course good things too, mainly concerning the girls. They are all rather pretty or downright beautiful. They don't mind sharing you with others. They also have likeable personalities. You can accept or reject a girl, you're not forced.
Anyway these are some of my thoughts on the game, I did have a pretty good time with it but was just expecting more after reading the stellar reviews.
I wish the devs good health and may the muses inspire them.

Let me start by saying, this is one of the most interesting stories in a porn game I've played so far. The urban fantasy setting, which usually ends up being disappointing, works very well here. The backdrop to this story is setup very well with the prequel as well and I can easily go through this game for just the story, with the h-content being a very welcome addition.

The characters are really good - absolutely adore Nessa, which is wierd considering there is a really sexy Amazon, a really sexy Orc and a sexy asian princess. Nessa's character is absolutely adorable to me, but honestly Marena, Alvara and Katsumi are really good as well. The renders aren't the absolute best, but the characterization, in my opinion, more than makes up for it, in my opinion.

The next big positive for me is Sammy. I'l be honest here, I usually hate the bro characters in most VNs but Sammy is a fantastic character with his loyalty towards the MC, his interactions with the MC and his general characterization.

All things considered I would give this game a 5, but for some reason, I found chapter 4 to be a little weak (story wise). Though, that might just be a me thing, since this chapter feels the completion of the current story arc. I think, the mystique surrounding the MC's powers and how he percieves it alongside the lack of clarity about the enemy, was what made the first 3 chapters such a joy to go through. But since, chapter 4 concludes that and gives you the answers, the tension was gone and the conclusion felt a bit weak to me personally (I really wish Kyois had done more with the wolves). Of course, I'm still incredibly exited about where we go from here, now that the MC accepts what he is, but chapter 4 is what makes me want to rate it 4.5 stars, but since that is not possible, I'll go with 4 for now and I have every intention of re-visiting my rating with further releases.

I do have to say, this really good work Kyois and all the best for future updates.

Edit: updating the rating to 5 stars, since part 3 is the actual completion to chapter and most of my complaints about a rushed chapter 4 were voided, so to speak. Thanks for this game Kyois.

The story is addictive and mysterious, based on the secrets that we combine piece by piece. Thanks to this, we can look more widely at the world and history game. In addition, the game has interesting and beautiful characters that have their own personality.This game is worth attention.

Good Job

The renders are decent but not really stand out, the story is passable and fun at points but could use a walkthrough unless you feel like grind saving to get the relationships and scenes you wanted, the development has been solid so at least it's not abandoned or taking forever between updates.
I wouldn't go out of my way to recommend it but I also see some of it's merits and if you're bored you could try worse, 3 stars.

One of the best stories of games I played. I only hope that the author nevers stops making games like this (as in how well made it is), because everytime I truly enjoy the story the game ends abandoned or really rough ending. Like gonna quickly finish it so people can't be mad I didn't finish it. But so far can't say anything bad about the author. Only GOOD JOB!!

Reluctant Archon has a great balance between story and adult content, usually it leans one way or the other but here its just right.

High quality art for the humans and some great more realistic monster art.

Only some very minor errors in game which i'm sure will be cleaned up later and do not effect the game play now.

The story explains well whats going on without long winded explanations and will hook you in to want to play more, the charaters(not MC) are good and fit well, personally i didnt really like any of the love interests but i think that had more to do with the MCs handling of them.

The game is only let down by the MC, given that the rest of the game is so well written with a great detail to lore and so much planing i really find it had to believe that the MC was written by the same person.

Hes a white knight like in most games but Mc is also a hypocrite, telling a guy not to touch a woman without her consent but MC is then happy in the next scene to be drugged asleep and fucked(ok to rape men but not ok to even touch a woman).

The MC is also portrayed as very very dumb after constantly saying how much he hates his family, how they always use him, betray him, destroy his life and that he dosent want anything to do with them is immediately happy and welcoming to them and straight away willing to go along with everything they want
Yes i get thats things have to happen for the story to move forward but MC could at least be angry about being used, make the person pay and not just with sex but actually ask for things in return ahead of knowing hes going to get betrayed and could MC just not be surprised when he suddenly finds out the people who helped him had an agenda.

Even with the problem with the MC this game is 100% worth a play and still rates easly 4 stars.

Was following the game for a while but didn't rate it as I wanted to see more of the story before deciding. So with the latest update I can say it's real good. The models are also very good, lot of effort put in by the dev especially the hair down there (was not a fan of it before but this game somehow made me love it). It's quite a unique one so really looking forward for future updates.

Amazing Story, goos amount of sex scenes but this game is so deep and interesting that you forget that is a porn game and start to enjoy the story and the sex looks like a plus. Different characters and all with different personalities, this game make you see that a porn game can have sex and still be well writed with an interesting story.

though it may not have long and steamy sexy scenes, it does make up for it by having an incredible story and I just keep wanting to learn more of this.

I would say, the story is on par with acting lessons. its just draws you in and wont let you go

This game deserves everybody's attention. The story is gripping, the renders are beautiful and I love the dialogues. At this point I just play because of the narrative, the sex scenes are just an added bonus.

It has been on my list for a while, after seeing it mentioned in discussion threads for other games I enjoy.
Finally got around to playing it (& the prequel) & very, very much enjoyed it!
Story is engaging & characters are written well, with enough depth for you to care for/about them.
Keenly looking forward to the next update!

An interesting modern fantasy story

The few first minutes made me fear on another generic VN with a half assed attempt to fantasy. But i was wrong, it is more than that.

--- Chara Design :
Well I have mixed feelings about this. The chara design does match well with the fantasy creature represented. The renders are okay. The personality of the characters quite fun, but not deep enough in my opinion. It is nice to have many fuckable girls but the counterpart is that you get less attached to them. None of the girls are really remarkable, I'm not sure I will remember any of the girl when it is over.

--- Story/Background :
Mixing Heroic Fantasy into a modern world is always tricky. It can easily turn ridiculous. In this game it is not the case : the story and the background is more complex than it seems, and the author suceed in making it interesting and sensical while keeping some fun. Great job and probably the main reason you will follow and support this game.

--- Sex/Animations/Renders :
The weak point of the game are clearly the animations and the sex scenes.
Animations are limited to the bare minimum, 2/3 renders loop, but that is not the main issue. Most of the time, I found that the scenes lacked sexyness, erotism, hotness.

--- Gameplay/Contents :
I don't know how many chapters there will be, but with only 3 chapters, you already have a huge amount of hours of play. Solid contents overall.
Gameplay is quite limited, it is a Visual Novel with seldom choices

Story is a good mix between fantasy and real world. There are gods and mythic creatures usually in human form but sometimes see original fantasy appearence. Entertaining to solve problems of other dimensions in a real world city. The mc’s main girl is loveable which is rare. Flashbacks are good. Fewer choice opportunity compered to average games in this site but as I see theres consequences. Dialogues a few times does not smooth to read for me. Every woman in the game has unique trimmed pubic hair which first was weird but after I liked it.
