A part of me feels kinda bad that when I see new content from A Way Back Home, my first thought is: "Cool, new Another Way Home update soon!"
The MVP back at it again being the absolute legend that he is. Keep up the good work bro! I do like howProgress Report #3 JUN 13 @ 08:00 UTC
Alright, first scene is done!
It wasn't very long (about ~190ish lines), but it had a bunch of posing work (that goes slowly), and I had a few extra clean up steps I needed to do on the images, and I just haven't done all this in like a year, so I had to remember how the fuck my workflow works.
I've reach the end of today (WAYY past it actually, but always hype for a new release), and I'll be back it tomorrow whenever I roll out of bed.
Not confident enough yet to give a release window, but again, I don't think this update will take too long, so~ soonish?
As always, thanks for being awesome!
Unlikely, the same pattern is playing out with him as it does with all other patreon projects. Smaller and smaller updates over a longer and longer timeline until the project goes in to the silence phase where the dev only makes a comment every once in a while to keep the shekels flowing.Breaking News! He's back! Will he stay around this time, only time will tell. And yes, I've been on the $1 Tier this whole time so you don't have to!
Just treat it as DLC.r4.1 Status: In Progress

Progress Report #1 JUN 12 @ 20:10 UTC:
Here is a thing I never thought I'd be writing again, but I'm sure happy I am!
I've got a copy of the new release and have done a very, very, rough content review (checking for new scenes in UnityExplorer). I have a general idea of what the new content is. The next step is image and dialogue extraction, which will give me a better scope and context of what will go where.
As I make progress, this post will get updated, along with bigger progress reports when I hit major milestones or reach the end of work for the day. This update will be much faster than the slow-ass epilogue (which won't be part of the r4.1 release), and at most should take me no more than a week to do (unless it turns out to be absolutely massive, but I don't think that is the case).
I'm not sure what to do about the completed status for the game, as it still has an ending and is completed, there are just more parts, maybe? So for now I'm just gonna leave it as is (unless a site mod tells me to change it).
Off to work.
As always, thanks for being awesome!
WOOOOOOOOOO will be waiting for your update!!!Progress Report #4 JUN 14 @ 02:10 UTC
I've completed (but haven't done any testing on) the first set of scenes in the new update. Anyone watching the main status post might notice I've reduced the task list down to two scenes (from 5, where I was breaking scene #1 into 4 parts, because that's how it's setup in the Unity game (it will still sort of be 4 scenes in the renpy game, but only where the scene selector is concerned, you won't notice in normal play and I think it will just be a single replay option, not sure yet)). It's the same amount of content, just less book keeping on my end.
So, ALL of scene 1 is completed now. That is all the Vindicator story content in this update done, well... in the project files, not done~ I don't even know if they work. But the code and images are there.
It took a bit longer than expected, I had to make a few new images, and redo/rework some of the slicing I did, which slowed me down. I know it will need a bit more work, but that a future me problem.
I still have scene #2 to do. It's a bit bigger, but has less pose work. So, maybe it will go a bit faster? Plan is to knock it out tomorrow, as always, I'll keep you guys updated as I hit milestones.
Thanks for being awesome!
Hey first of all thanks for being awesome like always and being so prompt to updating the game with Ferdafs' new content.Part of why I've never been interested in making scenes past the latest release content (other than having to draw them) is this exact issue, having scenes in conflict. Best case would be I can leave it all as-is and don't have to change anything in the conclusion. Worst case, I have to throw it all away, but I don't think that is very likely (and even if I had no other option than to remove the ending, I'd still keep the content in the game somehow, I wouldn't "remove" remove it).
At the moment, all I can do is speculate, because we are talking future content of from Ferdafs, which could literally be anything or nothing. That's pretty hard to plan for.
If I had to guess (and I do) I think most likely to change will be the interaction between Space Beth and Morty. When I started the ending, we only had 1 scene with them, which is hard to have any idea what direction that story would take. I already have a "plan/alternate" in mind, but obviously I don't know what things might change in the future.
My main objective in new content from Ferdafs will be to fit the new scenes to the current story/ending where possible (something I've been doing the whole project already), rather than change the ending. I most likely can't write around every curve ball, but I'm sure gonna try.
Not unless I have to. And even then, what most likely would change would be what she's upset about, she would still leave. One of the main frustrations from the ending was Space Beth flat out rejecting Morty and leaving. I understand the desire to avoid changes when possible to what you have already done, but now that we are getting more character development / scenes for Space Beth, will you consider changing the ending of that character?
From the OP:is this normal game have no sound
Why is there no sound?
The original game doesn't have sound, so I would have had to make or source sounds for this game. That is a very major task, like, months of work to go do. And, if I went about including sound I would want the audio to match and be impactful, not just generic background music.
I personally turn off sound in all but a very few VNs, and a lot of people seem to feel the same. So I think my time is better spent on other things.
Is there anyway for me on android to find these files for the nicknames? Or could you maybe paste the list here please? You can find the code in the day_0000.rpy, day_0001.rpy, day_0002.rpy files under "game/scripts/story/" these are just plain text files. Search for "input" and that will take you to the section of the file.
no, you're awesome. only scene or scenes i can think of that could be left as DLC, would be Morty's daughters on the one planet where people have hands on their heads (where they grow up really fast), and any possible kids he may have had with the horse princess. and maybe a "dlc" where the whole harem is all pregnant and having fun back to back.Anyhow, thanks for being awesome!
