VN - Ren'Py - Ripples [v0.7.0 Public] [Jestur]

This is a pretty good VN, lots of potential here but it's pretty short as of now.

Pros

• Good music/audio
• The characters are hot. There are an abundance of skinny blondes, which is just my type so I'm not complaining
• The Hscenes are well done and very sexy. They aren't the standard honey select animations so that's a plus
• Interesting story, I'm definitely interested in how the story will progress.

Cons:

• The dialog can be very cringey at times
• the VN is short as of now, Each chapter is a day so there are only 3 days in the game as of Ch3. That's with over a year of development, so I do have concerns about how long it will take to get to the end of the story.
• There's some heavy-handed commentary about marijuana legalization in the story. It's fine that the developer wants marijuana reform but putting that in a porn game comes off very preachy.
• Some of the animations have frames missing, this can be easily fixed so hopefully, the developer re-renders some of those animations.
• There are a few animations that only have a few nodes moving. This isn't really that big of a deal, but because only part of the girl's body moves, she looks very robotic. Kinda like a Chuck e cheese animatronic. Once again, really not that big a deal, but just wanted to point it out.

Overall, I honestly wanted to give this a 4/5 rather than a 5/5 because there are definitely flaws in the game. But I'm going to give it a 5/5 because there is a lot of potential in this game. Hopefully, the updates don't take too long, but I'm interested to see more from this VN.

Review of Ripples Ep. 3 Part 2

While I love the HS girls dev created, that's probably the only great thing I can say about this. Dull dialogues, plots that are trying to be many things at once. Reading the description, I was promised a sci-fi AVN but it's not really explored other than undermined time traveling stuff. 5/10 but open to change my mind since I'm planning to revisit this after like 4 future updates.

Ripples is an ambitious project, with top-shelf execution.

It starts pretty much as an ordinary, good visual novel. As the main story evolves, it gets intriguing and darker, a really good kind of dark. Characters, including the MC, evolve into their subplots, tangling their relationships to a larger, growing pool of characters. Most of them are pretty believable and deep, others are just promising at the time of this review; while there's still a handful of mysterious characters that add up to this enigmatic story, that will have you looking out for clues in every little detail in it's mind-twisting sci-fi plot. There's a decent amount of choices, though it is unclear for me how many of those are actually consequential. It's exciting to see how relationships quickly develop different kinds of kinks, fetishes and role playing.

Renders are top quality, girls are each uniquely beautiful, and their acting, gestures and positions are spotless. Recent episodes present insane, state-of-the-art animations, with lots of balanced bouncing and jiggling. Scene backgrounds are well crafted, and it's cinematic cutscenes are very enjoyable. Sound effects are immersive, but not distracting.

This is a no-brainer choice. I can't think of a single reason not to give Ripples a top rating. And I just can't wait for the next update.

I love a VN with good writing, an intriguing plot, compelling characters, and a solid quantity of extremely hot H scenes that keep building and teasing at even better yet to come.

Ripples checks off all of these boxes.

To discuss one aspect of the plot, I may have to include what could be considered SPOILERS, so just fyi, some may be below:



My one hope for this game is that it continues to spend most of it's time in 'present day.' Stories with time travel can sometimes overuse it, and if this means long stretches of time without the characters the reader is most invested in, it can be a detriment.

I see no evidence that this will be a problem for this game, or that the dev couldn't pull it off, their writing has been top notch so far, but it's really the only nitpick I could come up with, so I thought I'd mention it.

At any rate, kudos to the dev, I strongly recommend people support this project.

Ep.3 Part 2 v0.3.6 Public

Fantastic animations. Just head and shoulders above all the other VNs I've played in that regard. On top of that it has an interesting premise and great characters. The writing can be a bit uneven sometimes but overall it's pretty solid. A new favorite.

To be honest, this is probably the first VN I've ever played and I went in with no expectations whatsoever. But damn, the story got me intrigued. The visuals and animations are pretty good so I'd say it's a good combination.

I've gone on to play other VNs, some with better renders but so-so stories and vice versa but Ripples is one that I'll be waiting to complete. Go give it a try!

What a fantastic game so far. It's not a realistic game in terms of drawing out sexual tension and encounters, but it has enough fun and heart to make it engaging.

The characters do feel unique and bring a lovely flare to the game. I can see this being one of the better ones simply by how beautiful the girls are and how well done the sex scene are.

Hard to say how this game will eventually pan out, but I can say the tone is generally upbeat and pleasant so far. Drama has been added, but I don't know how that will play out.

Really, a fantastic VN with a lot going for it.
- Many beautiful models
- Characters with depth and variety
- Amazing animations, some of the best I've seen in a VN
- Interesting, complicated story
- Personable, interactive dev with an active Discord community.

All in all, this game is one of the best and promises many twists, turns, and lewds in the future. Well deserving of the high rating, I'm really looking forward to what Jestur has in store for us.

Fantastic sci-fi game with great humour, well-written characters, and an engaging story. One of my favourite games so far. I really hope the dev is able to finish this as every update can't come soon enough!

A VN with good animations, a interesting story, and cute girls. The story and the game itself start a little bit slow, but I got pretty engaged after a while. I feel like the main flaw at the moment is that the choices throughout the game are mostly just do or do not fuck X girl with very few consequences whether you do or don't. That said, the game is still in its early stages so it's possible that the consequences for decisions just haven't come up yet.

Honestly, the animations and story are good enough that I'm willing to look past more flaws than what the game has. I'm really looking forward to seeing what happens. In some ways, I feel like the number of sex sequences in the game kinda detract from the story a bit, though that's in part that I worry that the MC has bitten off more girls than he can chew.

Rated against Ep 3 Part 2 v0.3.6.

This really should be 4 stars, it has issues but truth be told they're so minor I feel to mark it down for them is a bit of a disservice to the dev. And overall I found myself excited to play it.... na, it's a 5.

The graphics are great, the effort has been put into the animations and the cast is varied. The plot is there and plodding along but it's not in your face about it. It exists, it's kinda pulling you along but overall you're left to smell the flowers as you do it.

Funnily enough the light touch plot is probably the cause of the he only issue I have with the game and that's the somewhat sudden shift in tone occasionally. This isn't simply a get your dick wet simulator, the dev is taking the time to lay out a story. And truth be told it's kinda good. It's the right side of weird/confusing. Not enough that you're mad clicking to get to the next sex scene, but enough to make you go "damn ok, right so what's happening now?". And that's a hard thing to pull off (heh). You could argue that the plot is a bit cliche as there's a handful of games I can think of which use a similar underlying trope but nothing wrong with a bit of tried and tested. The issue with tone is that the underlying story is a bit dark truth be told, it's a mystery to solve and there's a lot of pieces to the puzzle you don't know but scenes which are more plot heavy coming so soon after a few scenes where the MC is fooling around with some women can be a bit jarring.

There is a LOT of sex in this game. The game has the issue where the MC is basically God's gift to women but he starts the game off as virgin. So for 18 odd years of his life, nothing. Then as soon as the game starts women be banging at the door like World War Z. That... that makes my eyes roll a little but allowances have to be made I suppose. It's a porn game, if the MC wasn't at least attractive then it'd be boring as balls to play. So I think the games starts where you're flirting and fooling around with basically every girl you meet... then the plot kinda grabs you by the throat and suddenly something big happens and the MC has to deal with it. It happens a few times in the three episodes. Good sex scenes, quirky dialogue, some internal musing then BAM grimdank plot or a dream sequence where a guys head is bust open like a melon. Like.... damn son... warn a lad first.

But damn if it's not engaging. I'm excited for future updates. I played it yesterday and powered through the three episodes and I'm chomping at the big for more. It's definitely worth your time and your money if you can spare it.

Extraordinary aspects of the game:
The animation of the game is the most refined I have ever seen, the movement of the body is correct, you don’t see any weird collisions that break the illusion, just amazing. The characters every character have their own personality and their own different interests with makes them unique and rememberable in their own way.

What is good:
Animations, characters, story, comedy, music, almost everything about the game is good.

What is bad:
This one going to sound a little bit weird but I think they’re too many sex scenes, I really would have liked to hang out more with the girls without any sex scenes being involved as their characters are so god damn interesting and funny.

What can be made better:
The above.

My opinion:
Pretty much the above there is almost nothing bad about this game, the only thing that I want from this game is to play it more. To see what happens with the MC and the characters around him. So yeah it’s a great game and you should play it.

An interesting story, with a flair of mystery visualised with great animations.
So to sum it up:

• As I said before, great animations, clearly a lot of work is put into this
• An intruiging premise, and for now panning out very well
• Many different characters with tons of different personalities and body shapes
• Great humor, although that's very subjective of course

Some parts that could be seen as negative:

• Already lots of adult scenes at the beginning, while obviously enjoyable they do make things a bit less credible, then again it's an adult game, so it's not a big deal to me (and I feel it's also a bit toned down in the latest update)
• Due to the amount of different characters and plotpoints, it's a bit worrisome whether the dev can keep it all untangled and focused, so this might be an issue for the future, but for now it's definitely not a problem

Either way I'm looking very much forward to future updates of this game and potential other games of this dev.

Loved the game and can't wait for the next update. As most has said here the animations are really good and they don't fall unto the normal infinite loop unless it's on something that makes sense.

The music was not too over the top and the story is really good, got me hooked on the sci-fi time travel since it's not all at once.

I have finished Episode 3 Part 2 and I can confidently say this game as some of the best (if not the best) animations in the entire platform. I've played quite a lot of these games and I've never seen such crystal clear, smooth and beautiful animations before.

Adding extreme value to the great animations is the absolutely great pacing and choreography of the sex scenes. The text during the scenes is sublime and the order of progression is extremely satisfying.

I still have some reservations regarding time-travelling, it basically condemns the characters to suffer heart-ache, which makes me wish the Dev could split into two, just so we could have a game with these perfect animations/sex scenes without the condemned plot-line.

Either way, I still believe there might be some semblance of happiness with to be had with the characters from the present, even if the MC and the characters from the past are doomed for unhappiness.

This story is so much fun! The various threads of the story play off each other and keep you interested in what will happen next and the characters are entertaining. However none of that matters: the first animation in Episode 3 was so awesome, I would rate this game as 5 stars for that alone.

Jestur is clearly putting a lot of effort into making a quality product here and deserves recognition for it!

Story, Characters, Animations, Sound/Music are all close to perfection (in my opinion ), And the Scenes are totally my kind of lewdness hehe , i am really looking forward to see what happens next to all that beautiful ladies ,and my mind is constantly like : ooh that could mean this and this situation can mean that and so on... ( im just hoping for a happy end which normally i dont care about at all)

i am normally not into sci-fi but i am putting my prejudices against sci-fi aside with this game now .
