I hope next update the dev consider fixing the awful lag on animation. Also problem with consuming too much memory or cpu. So many renpy dev out there, some with good animation and run smooth even on low console. And their file way more higher or better than this. So this kind of absurd if this can't be fixed specially after years.

That's a "you" problem. I have no such issues.

Maybe it's your PC/laptop the one that can't run Ripples? I did had some problems when playing Ripples back in 2021-2022, but it was a very old laptop, so I bought a new one and I haven't got any lag problems since then.

Bad news: things are only gonna get trickier. Developers are leaning towards using newer video codecs like HEVC (H.265) or AV1. They give you better quality and smaller file sizes, but they also eat up way more processing power to decode. So, videos that use these fancy codecs tend to demand a beefier PC or device to run smoothly. In Ren'Py games, that can make things a lot more resource-heavy

Maybe the difference is because the videos are at 60fps and most are over 5 seconds long, with a high bitrate.

Yep. This has always been the case. As the years go by and new computers get faster it's not only the top end that is affected. The floor for what you need to do even basic tasks goes up as well, such as playing video files.

Had a rig I used which was a nice mid/high end system when I built it around '99-'00. By the mid-late 2000s HD videos were becoming more and more common and that rig would seriously start to chug or even drop frames trying to play them.

Renpy is not a demanding engine for many use cases but eventually as more games make use of newer technologies the minimum base processing power you'll need to have a good experience will rise as well. It sounds like Ripples is apparently an example of this.

So I've been replaying this one from the beginning again since the new update and had thoughts on the Kira/Krystal thing in Episodes 2 and 3. In Episode 2 The conversation between Darci, MC and Krystal makes it pretty clear that Darci isn't just screwing around, and the Episode 3 reversion to Krystal seems tacked on and a deliberate retcon. I'm betting it's just Jestur not wanting to write the extra code that would come of keeping a separate branch saying close to the same things from Episode 3 on.

If you're using the incest patch from LewdPatcher that could be why. That stopped being updated at ep6. To get a current patch you need to use the multimod linked in OP, it has a version with an up to date patch.

I will say it's interesting that we're still in the past at the end of this one. Usually it's one in the present, one in the past and so on. The fact that we've been in the past for 2 makes me feel like making any progress in the present with any of the characters there keeps getting farther and farther away.

Are we close to having Tiffany or Jessica at all? Not really. We've only really spent time with one of Scarlett's twins. The other one apparently has some shitty boyfriend that's causing her problems but we've never even touched that. I think she's been on screen and talking a total of twice even though she's apparently one of the MC's closer friends.

I get that the Past is where the plot is and that to try to change the present we have to go there more often, but I really am starting to feel like the present is getting further away from any kind of progress outside of Skylar and Darci.

I suspect after this update it'll be a while before we go back to '99, if ever. It felt sorta like a farewell party, leave that time period with a blast. Especially with what happens with Luna toward the end, that look she gives which is nearly identical to the one she gave him in '19. Sorta like she never saw him again after that to get closure about the whole situation, before she runs into him again in '19. That scene with Jenny felt pretty final to me as well, like they'd never see each other again or at least not for a long time.

Hope I'm wrong because I actually enjoy the time MC spends in '99.

It's right around the time he was contemplating a bunch of other changes, so the theory certainly has merit...

Yea ... I think time travel from the MC's point of view going "forward" will be significantly different ... but I don't think it's the last time Jenny meets her soulmate (many puns and suggestive inflections intended).

That's what makes this game unique, and I wish people stop wishing stuff I like to disappear, you probably don't mean it like that, but that's how it looks when reading it.
I don't know how you got "I wish it would disappear" out of my comment. I don't like time travel in general.... I think it is lazy writing in general.... because you can do stuff like in the MCU, and just "fix" everything without thinking about it. Someone dies... well we just travel in time and "fix" it.

Look at the T.V. series The Flash.... each season is.... we just time travel and reset.. and start all over again.... so nothing from the last season has any consequence at all......

anyway I digress... I don't want this game to be gone.

"Nezron said:I wish people would stop using time travel in games and movies. But it is what it is."

Ok, I guess you didn't mean it but that's what you wrote, and your examples are a bit weird MCU stuff isn't known for being well written. And ripples is fairly well written for a AVN, specially because it uses Time Travel.
And it's ok to not like the theme, I just questioned your use of the wish word.

Started playing the day before yesterday, had to stop myself from playing because DAMN, this got to be one of the best games Ive played here on f95. I’m hooked, and can’t wait for what’s next. I know we have to wait a bit because the new update just dropped but goddamn, I’m a fan

I’d recon you are right, but being such a big element of the story I can’t see Mc NOT return to ‘99. I hope we get more of the present time because I miss my girls :( but I have to say I’d hate it if we won’t see anymore of ‘99

Anyone started from episode 7 again after the Recap? I keep jumping to it. I think I might have to rewatch it all over again.

Any update is welcomed. especially high quality one's like this. but IMO it waited too long (in a already short update) to get to the main plot of the story. I won't call it a filler update but I wish we had gotten into more of the story.

I really like how Jestur keeps developing his artistic approach. All those angle switches, camera zoom-outs etc. I especially liked the foreshadowing in the Scarlett/Valerie scene, the one right after Valerie takes the MC to the bedroom. I haven’t seen anything like that in other AVNs.

Bro also really stepped up his BGM game. I used to consider the BGM in Ripples — especially during the sex scenes — the weakest part of the AVN. But now? It's just *chef’s kiss*.
