The passive aggressive opinionated youth MC of NH kills a lot the game's enjoyment for me. He yaps a lot of regurgitated feel good nonsense. They added 3 different ways to "play" him but all of them read mostly the same way and there's no consequence to anything which is a shame

Oni's game is lacking in a lot of ways but its ludonarrative is on point. You don't need much dialogue to convey how our boy Zero can be a huge dick, a sweet guy, a weird pervert or a combination of all of the above, you can play him in different ways and the game reacts accordingly, even if it's a bit rudimentary. In that way actions speak louder than words

The MC is the biggest bitch in that game. Even when we try to stand up for ourself, hospital ward. Try to help someone, hospital ward. Help a granny cross a street? Hospital ward. Not to mention the dialouge is meh and cringe at times. Nor the fact that Jean has this cringey 'big sis-little bro' dynamic which makes zero sense. Laura wanting to be top does make sense but comes off as too strong. Rogue being submissive seems most natural and ACTUALLY isn't cringe.

I do like how Laura just drags you around and implies shes constantly stalking you around just to make sure youre safe, then again, seeing how every month Null ends up in the hospital, thats a fair precaution.

The TNH and RLE dichotomy is like that of fanfic vs game.
In one, you are dragged by the hand through someone else's in depth fantasy made into illustrated text. In the other, you play an actual fucking videogame.

And what a story, fam, what a story. Oni might be a bitch, but he's not a Bitch. You know who's a Bitch? Null.
In fact, you know what would be a funny af mod that I'd actively want to play? Zero in TNH. He'd be bedding hoes left and right and skipping their tedious "I wanna bring into my game all the bland and boring things that I believe constitute a real relationship" like he was on a repopulation speed run.

Then if consent isn't given and you try to force her, then she just slaps you hard, leaves the room and just doesn't talk to MC at all for days.

If your going to add a lot of story dialogue, might as well add some non-verbal lines as well.

Though I don't got a horse in the race, Just figured I toss that out there that there is a consent system in place in Rogue-lite. It's just masked under the action/game mechanic system [if you can call it that] itself.

The difference is the delivery, and the presence of choice.

I could never get into Null, something is just off with that game. Not a big fan of the "anime" style as well. The biggest surprise to me in regards to this game is that it has been in development since 2016-2017(can't remember which) and how little actual content there is. That's quite something.

I don't mind games like this with a 'grind' play type, but when you don't really see progress (well I can't work out what I need to try and progress from the on-screen stats). I guess I just don't understand the whole stats thing in this game

I literally just found about Null this weekend and done it in like 2 hours to find out there's just one chapter (unless I missed something). An for a duration of the story all my guy did is ended up in hospital bunch of times. Like actually I starting to think author is influenced by M-21 from Noblesse (obscure reference I know) because how often we getting we get our shit rocked to then wake up in hospital bed with meaningless power up. And it's "realistic" looking art style just doesn't work for me, but it's just me issue.

Now on to positives that I wish Oni would implemented years ago.
Snappier garderobe, ability to make girls wear "unbuttoned/pulled" clothes. Ui is more convenient and scenes auto progressions are neat.

But it's all I could take away from The Null. In any case imma just stick with Oni.
