This game is special precisely for how well paced, flexible and rewarding it can be, and why it's maddening to see every copycat throwing away these fundamentals to fit the 'point A to point B slideshow with busywork padding disingenuously presented as character development' shaped hole of western ero games.

I also agree. There is so much role playing that can be done you can play the game 20 times and get totally different experiences. It is why it is dumb to ask for "full saves" for this game. Those people miss the entire point.

And I also agree that those trying to make other games to "improve" upon this one generally also miss the best points of this game. When the first version of Null Hypothesis came out I thought it absolutely was terrible. It has gotten way better since, but the grind is extremely real in that game. It could actually do with "less story". Still better than most of the VNs out there, as you alluded to.

Yes, I know it is a long way, nearly a decade (f.... I remember when it started with not fully implemented Rogue), but we must appreciate that there's no reboot, no rework, no 50x clone (yes, I'm looking for you, Big Brother). Still, it's just old, messy code. That we like and play. So go, man.
