As for Mac, my condolences. I finally left that walled garden back around Tiger's release 10.5.5 having moved over from NeXT Step's NeXT OS. And I don't have to miss it thanks to emulation (plus having a personal classic macintosh "museum" (Duo 210, Quadra 650, PowerMac 7200, PowerBase tower, Intel iMac Core i5)
Mint Linux is a solid choice. I've been using it for a very long time with Steam on my Desktop with my Ryzen 5 2600 & Nvidia GTX 750 > 1650 > 3050 6GB (all bus powered). My AMD 7840u laptop is Fedora. (my homelab is all Alpine or Raspbian)

with the Nvidia drivers supports ALL GPUs (AMD, Intel's latest, and Nvidia) -- AMD and Intel are built into the kernel. I'll be able to try it out on all my machines.
