Ren'Py - Completed - S.H.E.L.T.E.R. - An Apocalyptic Tale [v1.0] [Winterlook]

This is a very pure game. It's basically a shoestring plot that serves as an excuse to try out all kinds of situations with a number of different character archetypes. With lots of skipping and a general sense of what to do, you can get to the scenes very quickly, and complete a character's route of half a dozen scenes or so in about 15 minutes. Even without skipping, the scenes come early and often, as any required objectives are very easy to complete. This vision of knowing exactly what the focus is and making no excuses or attempts otherwise makes for a painless, streamlined experience. Grinding is minimal, and unlocking further characters is usually as simple as "try the option you haven't tried yet".

The scenes themselves are adequate. A distinct artstyle that's fairly appealing, and a handful of images that cycle through to supplement the lack of animation. Although what the presentation lacks in variety, the scenarios more than make up for it.

Basically it's the porn game equivalent of "quantity over quality" with a torrent of well enough scenes overtaking any semblance of plot, gameplay, character development, intrigue, or staying power. Good for a quickie in a fairly unique niche, but probably not anyone's favorite for long.

Clearly inspired by Fallout etc. which isn't a bad thing. Still fairly original due to somewhat ample player agency [i.e. you actually do accomplish things via missions, build up a shantytown etc.]

Renders,
2D Drawn goodness. Some renders are wonky anatomically [you'll know when you see it] but it's not a glaring issue. Overall its competent.

Sound,
Some kind of Kevin MacLeod type, freeware music, but I like it. It's soothing I s'pose

Playability,
You won't need a guide for most of it. Some of the pregnancy content in the latest patch isn't really signposted well but the rest of the gallery is simple enough. Not many interesting choices beyond the binary Romance vs. Corruption angle, but its fine.

Performance,
Works well as you would expect a Ren'py game would.

Bugs,
Game itself was fine, but using the incest patch led to bugs [this isn't the game's fault, of course]

I don't recall any animations. 2D drawn scenes instead.

This game is about a family who survived a nuclear apocalypse by hiding out in a fallout shelter. One day out of the blue the now sterile father decides that it is time to start repopulating, and its up to you, his only son, to get the job done.

So your mission is to find women and get them knocked up. In order to help you with this new mission you are allowed to go outside and scavenge, at which point you discover other survivors on the surface who are making their life among the debris of society. Strangely enough most of the people in this society are large chested single women.

The art is hand drawn and reasonably well done. There are some nice animations as well.

For sex content the game is pretty well stocked. It starts out a little slow with a money grind, but pretty soon it rockets through the content. It's like day one your sister won't open your door for you. Day two you bring her a gift. Day three you're in her butt. Day four you do a second mission. Day five she's pregnant with your child.

The game is weird. It has some parts with tedious grind, but then the "corruption/romance" routes progress incredibly quickly. Only to be hit with another money grind as you manage the settlement's finances. Overall the dialog is short and fairly uninteresting. The threadbare story is what loses this game one star for me. The whole plot feels so perfunctory, even by porno game standards.

Overall I recommend this one for a good fap, but it's not one you're likely to remember in a month. At least it's quick with the porno. No massive walls of text to get through here. Even if it didn't strike the right balance of story and porn, at least it erred on the side of more porn instead of walls of boring text.

At first i didn't actually think I would enjoy this, i usually avoid Renpy games (which is ironic because I once made one, a crap one but one nevertheless). That said as i played through this I found myself quite liking it.

The general gist is you are the son in the family of your mother, father and 2 sisters. Your father is a scientist, your mother a biologist, your sister an ex army vet and the other one a pre college student. Complete with the personalities you would expect.

There are 2 routes per character, namely Romance or Corruption. Now what happens is your father is a dispassionate scientist, everything is a lab experiment to him,including you and the family. Unfortunately he can no longer have children for some reason so he asks you to replenish the human population after the nuclear apocalypse. How you may ask? Well...he wants you to bonk! He wants you to bonk you big, ex army sister, he wants you to bonk your innocent naive virgin sister, he even wants you to bonk his wife, your mother!

*Billy Mays Voice* BUT WAIT THERES MORE!!! See there is also a settlement nearby! And a trader that hangs outside your shelter, you can bonk them too!

Said bonking takes place with very high quality renders that are animated (said animation is flicking between two images to give the impression) and the scenes you get differ depending on whether you choose to corrupt or romance the girls.

I played both routes just to see what happens.

Romance - Is exactly that, woo them, slowly and they develop love for you, buy them gifts etc etc. Said Romance cumulates in every girl loving you. Aww....

Corruption - Break em! (this was my first and favourite path), turns out trying to slip 'em the one eyed purple snake firsthand is difficult, so your father being a scientist develops a pill that launches them into a state of sluttiness that not even Caligula could rival! Said corruption results in introducing naive, innocent little sister to becoming a hardcore BDSM Submissive, taking a once proud ex army veteran sister and turning her into a sex soldier who obeys your every command, and turning your mother against your father which eventually results in her being railed behind his back (literally, there is a scene) and eventually in front of him and then the big one, you can choose whether to boot dad out or keep him around as a submissive little maid that does everything around the house while you fuck his now slutified wife and daughters....

Can you tell I like this game? You can see which route I prefer! Do play it.

Finally a game where the art is both great and has a consistent quality thoughout the game.

story is fine and the characters are hot.

you have both a corruption and a romace route. So i am sure there are something for everyone.

28/4 2020- game might be getting to "big" some of the characters are left behind in an old part of the game. I hope the get moved, that would also make some sense for the story..

great game. It has nice artwork great story and lots of character interaction . I like how you can chose how you want to develop the story and the grind aspect. Its cool that you can almost control everything that happens with the mc and the people around him.

The good!!
-Story: Interesting, makes the situations believable.
-Graphics: I very much like the artwork, some of the best 2D graphics.
-Sounds: The music is very nice, compliments the game very well.
-Characters: The game made me care for some of them especially Tiffany also the mother and the little sister Melisa as well.

The bad...
-Sex scenes in romance routes could use some more build up first but the characters are in a desperate situation so I guess it's alright.
-Even if you romance Elin, she still has sex with your sister Kira once. Not the end of the world but I would like the option to stop that from happening.

The h-scenes are top notch

I don't know why there's universal praise for this game.

Updates have been slow, the MC's penis changes size drastically between scenes (going from a shrimp dick to a baby's arm holding an apple), some of the character art gets ugly in some scenes, every single character has the personality of a dumb whore, locking half the H-scenes behind a binary choice is annoying, and clicking through each day is tedious at best.

The art that is good is great, the concept is awesome, and there's a lot of room for expansion. Some of the writing is decent, and the grindy bits can actually be pretty fun. As of right now, your best bet is just to rip the images out with the RenPy extractor and have fun with those after playing a bit.

Edit: Nothing much has changed/been added, same complaints still apply to all new content.

Edit 2: Once again, not shit has changed at all. The fugly art scenes are still there, and there's very little else added to the game since I wrote this review a year and a half ago.

I just played the v0.15

I love character designs.
The sex scenes are very well drawed but they would be perfect if they had more animation and maybe changes of camera angles.

The characters have a bit of variety in facial expressions, although they lack variety in poses.

The story is interesting at first, but after a while you notice that it lacks a bit of drama or missions since it is set in a post-apocalyptic world

The decisions that have an effect on the love relationship with the characters are marked, which I like.

Although I personally point out that it has several little details, I give it 5 stars because I really liked the game, and I hope it gets better in the future.

but what the games lacks at the moment is the buildup for the sex scenes every thing happens so fast . in summertime saga there is a buildup for sex scenes and also a free roam option would make this game more awesome .
and needs more quest . and then other character should also have there daily routine going on during different time of day and the sex scene should depend on that .

In my opinion, this is a step up from their first game, Fate of Irnia. In two ways specifically, art and grammar. Fate of Irnia is fairly inconsistent with the art. A character may look decent or good in one frame and below average in others. In Shelter, the artwork is way more consistent in that a character's art remains the same throughout. Grammar is still an issue unfortunately, but compared to FoI, its leagues better. You might run into a few sentences that are broken English, but nothing too bad. Also, the game is using the Renpy engine from the start, so that's a plus. Overall, I give it a 4 star rating, despite a few flaws, for having a decent, refreshing art style, as opposed to reusing some Daz 3D models.

Replayed the finished game now and it pretty much holds up.
Amazing artwork models,backgrounds,scenery are 10/10.
Story is good and the epilogue is ok.(dont expect any mindblowing twists).
BGM is +.
Good fap game and overall another good game from this dev.

A sci-fi, Fallout-type, post-apocalyptic, repopulate-the-species game is a niche that should've been done a long time ago, and Winterlook is finally doing it.

That's a good thing, since Winterlook works with my favorite themes of incest and pregnancy. His (or her) games usually have a strong resource management component, romance/mind-breaking paths, and conception-fertilization images. And all of that is here again: earn cans of food (currency) to buy anti-radiation syringes that give you the ability to do things and people. Like impregnating them.

There are quite a few positives to this game: The art is good, better than Winterlook's previous game, The Fate of Irnia, and there's a variety of scenes and positions. No animation, though. The storyline works for this game, the writing is pretty believable (in a post-apocalyptic sense). The inclusion of both romance and MB (and different H-scenes for each) is great. And Winterlook updates frequently, usually every 2-3 weeks or so.

There are a few critiques and things to note. While the art is good and improved, a lot of the models are reused, which is why the father looks pretty...feminine. The frequent updates also smaller updates, so you might be better off skipping 4-5 updates before playing it again: I just played 0.12 and it's far more developed than when I played 0.07. Still, some parts of the game are still pretty bare-bones. Finally, ongoing resource-management mechanic is annoying because it means you have to do it all over again if you want to play the Romance and MB routes. You'll definitely need to UnRen and go into the console; I think the commands are, courtesy of @bepri :

Note that if you pick either Romance or MB route for a single member of your family, it's applied to all three of them. No mixing-and-matching, which is what I would prefer.

Overall, a good game with a terrific genre and fetishes. It's fairy quick, so definitely worth a playthrough.

Update at 0.23: I'm upping it to that final 5th star. It's just an all around good game and that art is amazing, unique, and sexual. The pregnancy content in particular delivers so much better than most games that promise the fetish do and as it progresses it just keeps adding more and more women. What's there to say other than, it's a damn fine game and worth supporting.
A good game, try if you haven't. Four star and getting better and slowly more content each update. It could eventually use a walkthrough as some of the game isn't as intuitive as it could be, the gallery helps at least know you didn't see something but it doesn't tell you specifically/how you missed it, and it is apparently going multipath like his last game so one playthrough can't see all. Aside from that, the only thing keeping it from five stars is it's still too early/too little content. Even there, it's been getting frequent updates. Good game and getting better.

Review of version 0.5

This is a refreshingly original game with great artwork and straightforward gameplay. The premise is kind of silly - the MC's dad wants his son to repopulate the planet by impregnating his family members. The dad is impotent so he ends up being his son's wingman as he seduces his mother and two sisters.

The dialogue is good and provides a romance and an "MB" route. I have no idea what "MB" stands for but it seems to be for just fucking and not love.

There is a little bit of a grind until you reach the settlement, but it's not tedious and it's brief.

The game does suffer from some bugs and I had to refer to the forums at one point because a bug caused me to get stuck.

The only downside is the lack of artwork. For a version 0.5, this has very little variation in the artwork. Most of the artwork is sprites and backgrounds. The sex scenes have 2-4 images each, but there are only minor variations between each image. This seems rather light, which is a shame because the artwork is one of the better aspects of this game. If there had been more artwork, this game would easily be a 5-star game.

This game has a huge potential imo.

1) you get into the hot scenes since the first update, which is not granted in many other games. So thanks to the developer for that.
2)the fate of Irina Is very good.
3) incest+pregnancy=best game ever
4) the updates are small, yes, but they are frequent too, much more than other games.

Only thing, i mind a Little bit having the father around (even if he Is cool) i Hope he dies or leaves the shelter for ever, things like that.

And i hope for the mom pregnancy (hopefully pregnancies) to happen soon and to have a lot of scenes with her full belly.
