Not long review for me (for once)

That's a good game, some grinding but i don't mind, nice art but not top notch.

The story is kind a weird... About the other male in the beginning but that's spoiler area.

I did love the settlement development arc and i liked the pregnancy route even if that's not really my fetish.

I gonna follow this game for sure.

A little opinion/tip/advise, i think adding combat ( more grinding so not sure) could be very interesting or randomizing some things to avoid repetition. If you are after cans, you often repeat the same day for too long without even one change. That's the type of game , but i always advise to add some random to avoid a lot of the bad aspect of the grinding. Which random? i dunno, a morning scene, a shower scene and why not a breakfast scene. You got 3 girls that's already 9 random scenes which avoid repetitiveness.

If I tag anything as a spoiler, I would advise you don't read it unless you've already played the game. I tag them as spoilers for a reason. They won't break the experience if you read them, but I think you're better off not doing so.

WOW. This game is WONDERFUL. Literally, my only complaint is that I want the story to finish and I'd love more kinky shit with a particular character (the mother) lol. This is NOT to say that there isn't enough content right now, just that damn its good I want more.

Before I get into below, I am going to assume everyone is using the incest patch. I do not know how this game plays without the incest patch, but it is hard for me to imagine that this game was not written with incest in mind. Maybe it's totally fine without, probably is, but dang. Get dat incest patch tho.

Itemized Review:

• Story: Great in some areas, okay in others. Has some minor flaws but none worth crying over. Overall it's good.
• Pacing: The time until intimate content is good, but I think the time until sexual content is a bit fast. It would be nice, for example, if instead of basically jumping straight into sex with your mom on the same day of declaring your intent, you maybe started with a touch in the kitchen that she liked but didn't know if she should, and then maybe a kiss on the neck the next day, etc. I definitely prefer the pacing on this game over those that take FOREVER, however.
• Sexual content quantity: HIGH. VERY HIGH. Some characters (the three main girls) have tons of content, some characters (the three settlement girls + robo girl) have a good chunk of content, and then a couple others have at least some content. And out of the five girls that have the most content, you have two routes for them (romance and slutification), and each route has TONS of custom scenes different from the other route, for each girl! WOW.
• Sexual content quality: HIGH. VERY HIGH. You can see the art in previews. The dialog during sex is GREAT. I usually require scenes be animated as it is a sign of effort the dev is putting into the game. Scenes in this game are not, but luckily that has not translated to poor effort, if anything it has translated to redistributed effort which has made this game great.
• Kinks: Hehehehehehehhhhhhh....

• Pregnancy: I mentioned this in the kinks list but wanted to break out on its own because it is done so well. You have explicit impregnation content (fuck non preggo girl and make her preggo). You also have explicit pregnant content (fucking the now preggo girl). I will not say anymore out side of a spoiler but there is quite a bit of it and it is very very well done imo.

Other minor things I like:

• Replayable scenes, all of them, whenever you want via dialog with the character.
• Great art style. It's custom art and the girls look very hot.
• Relative variety in the girls. I'm not fond of the blond short haired girl personally but maybe someone else is.
• Big ol titties and big ol booties lol. Everyone has at least "large" assets, some bigger haha.

I greatly enjoyed this game and as of v.0.25 there is plenty of content with two main routes to follow, each with their own CG's. I did have some issues that knocked it down a point.
The story pacing is much faster then I would have liked, and the main plot points are a little out there. I played with the incest patch installed and the time it took to romance the family was within a single dialogue. "I couldn't... You're my brother, it's too weird." "I brought you a gift." "Well, in that case, a BJ wouldn't hurt."
The other was how some of the characters look off. It's all secondary characters , but it's strange to me that the father character has some DSL. And the babies you can have are really off putting.
Overall, it's I game I recommend and I'm looking forward to future updates.

Enjoyable game. Not yet finished but makes consistent updates. Each girl has two route paths. A Mind break path and a romance path. The art is really good and most of the characters are likeable. Some routes or scenes are harder to get than others. some rely of a random stat while most just require prerequisite scene or action. I also like that the different variety of women to get into. some interesting ones are a robot and a girl who has the option to be a Futa.

The art is fantastic, probably the best 2D art I've seen here in F95 Zone. It's really impressive. Gameplay is good and story is fresh. This game is great! Hope it keeps being developed until it's completed.

I enjoyed it immensely, but its not a finished game and that leaves you frustrated for more. I found it easy to start new a new game over and over while picking different choices but it seems to lack content and routes to follow.

The development of the narrative in this game is well done. You don't get into situations where sex is forced into the scene, it comes naturally.

Although you should have a little bit of options to fail to become a perfect storyteller it is still enjoyable among the same genre

I've said so before that if a game gets me to play it multiple times all the way through from start to finish I'll give it a 5/5, but this one has gotten me at least five times now (the number of updates since I discovered it). The long and short of it is this one fulfills that harem fantasy without all the crazy hola hoops some other games on this site love to dish out. Sure there's a grind, but if you're really that impatient with your porn go download cheat engine and let the rest of us enjoy our smutty games.

good game just needs more content and imo using cheats make the game feel a lot more enjoyable for me love the character design top notch cant wait for more the fact i chose to sit down to write about this game proves that its worth a try at least.

Am I the only who wishes this game had more of a story, more dialogue and buildup with the characters before getting the sex scenes? Because so far everything happens so quickly and with little time to truly begin to care that the characters appear incredibly shallow.

I'd even say that the two dimensional caricatures in the absurd and unrealistic mockery that is Battle of the Bulges have more depth than in SHELTER. At least in BotB the characters speak way more than a few lines and you need more than just 4-odd choices before you get all their sex scenes at once. It also doesn't hurt that it has an overarching story that was established since day one.

I'm sad to say that the only great thing about SHELTER is its godly art and its high amount of sexual content. Because even its gameplay is sorely lacking, as it amounts to simply waiting for your number of cans to increase day after day with the same work that it's so simple that it can't even be considered a minigame.

And we know the dev can do better with the story and characters, as they have done so before with Fate of Irnia, so it confuses me that now they're incapable of repeating that when so far SHELTER actually has more sex scenes as well as characters than FoI.

I find it both hilarious and astounding how the failings of other projects like Star Channel 34 and Broken Heart Bordello are the only good things about SHELTER and viceversa.

I can't say I'm a fan of the current job system of the game, both the secretary and brothel advertiser jobs suck since they only give you 5 cans and you cannot stack them with the bartender job. And you also have to go to the settlement to do those jobs, which means the 5 cans you earn are always lost in their entirety by having to buy syringes.

The best job by far is the doctor one since it gives you free syringes without even having to go out of the shelter. Not to mention that it is also annoying that you're further locked out of certain sex scenes according to the job choices, even those that are available in the same "route".

I skipped on last month's update so I "played" two months worth of content this time. And like usual with this game I spent more time downloading than actually playing it. I really don't get why the dev does this, the game fulfills in giving plenty of satisfactory sexual content, but that's literally all it does.

There's little to no real gameplay and the story is barely there, only being told through small chunks once in a while. Heck, there has been NO story progression for the last 5 updates, ever since 0.17. 0.22 advanced the story a little bit, but it was all over as quickly as you noticed it. And the character progression is a joke, romancing or mind breaking them takes all the time and effort of dropping a hat to the ground. The only real struggle is waiting for the dev to actually finish their routes before they move on to work on another character's route.

It's not as bad as Summertime Saga or Something Unlimited, which have had character's sex scenes pending for years, but it's still annoying eating a burger 2 ingredients at a time instead of a larger bite. This approach may be done in an attempt to try and appease everyone, but it just leaves the game in a constant state of incompleteness.

EDIT: Checking the final version of the game, I have to say I'm disappointed by the lack of content of Dagger (the bandit leader). Looking back on it, my rating should have been 3 stars from the review I made, but I was hoping that it would get better in the future. It did not.

Hot game, but with zero player agency - basically a visual novel for a large portion. Also, for some reason you cuck the only other male character, no two ways about it. Come on, Winterlook. I like that character.

0.21 Review

Biggest complaint up front in hopes of someone that matters reading this: PLEASE please please allow us to both romance and mind break different girls in the same play through (e.g. Romance Angela, Mind Break Kira and Melisa.) Currently from everything I've come across (including the walk through featured on F95zone) this appears to be impossible in the current update (0.21).

Other than the aforementioned annoyance, I've been very pleased with the development and progression of the game. There's a modest grind early on, which is made more tolerable by overall solid pacing to the story, particularly on the romance path.

Very hot renders, although animations would really bring it over the top. Music is done well, short and to the point, but it sets a proper lonely end-of-the-world tone. Side character interactions have improved substantially since I first played (0.13ish maybe?).

All in all, SHELTER earns a solid 4/5. An option to mix/match romance/mind break choices would elevate my score half a point, and a few basic animations added to major character H scenes would earn an additional half star, for 5/5 total.

I wish more people know about this game.

2. Harem (literally every girl is bangable)
3. Pregnancy (no birth scenes but you can live with your children, not many games have this option)
4. Internal view (sort of)... I just love watching swimmers intruding the ovum and make the woman/girl pregnant (a kink of mine)
5. An android (onahole which you could customize)
6. It has almost everything (megane, tomboy, shy girl, bold girl, futa girl [you could choose not to let her be a futa], etc.)

Enough said, just go play this game.

Review as of v.0.20

Pros:
-Great 2D art by Ebelisk (you can find even more stuff on his twitter). Has some of the best booty scenes I've ever seen. Each character has unique design and I can't wait to see more scenes with them.
-Two routes: sweet vanilla and even sweeter corruption allow for at least two different playthroughs.
-For v0.2 has a lot of content. I've seen games at higher versions not have even half the content this already has.
-Don't have to wait for v1.00 to see pregnancy scenes, they're already here.

Cons:
-There's some early grinding (which can be avoided completely using console command - "page-56#post-2794320" has the info)
-Occasionally some small glitch can happen (e.g. character appeared on same screen twice in different spots) but it's rare
-Don't expect a 10/10 mind-blowing writing that will change your life. I'd say this is a more of a chill game made to have fun.

Overall, great game with awesome content that makes me excited for each update.

I can't penalize such a masterpiece for grammatical errors considering the competition... Maybe a handful of spelling errors at most. Side note, @dev please hmu and I'd localize for no charge, this is such a great game.

At least two playthroughs are required, and more are still fairly rewarding considering how you can choose to (no surprise, being post-apocalyptic) impregnate and who it would be that you choose. There are other choices that I feel would be mildly rewarding in their exploration as well through multiple routes. Some choices are ONCE ONLY such as romance, etc. And better wrap it unless you're serious because options with the pregnant female is reduced while she's carrying.

Anyway dev, please please keep up the amazing work. Considering it's only a .19 I'm in awe at the content and careful consideration that went into this game. There's one girl out of all the current ones who isn't exactly my favorite, but that's a better ratio than every other 18+ game I've played lol.

Story : you play a s a dude in some sort of post apocalyptic world that got nuked,basically its fallout new vegas the porn game.
Originality : not alot of fallout : new vegas /weg/s out there,so yeah its pretty og
Sound : can do with some music.
Playability : could be replaued twice for romance route and mind break route,nice.
Performance : fast,well it's renpy not a lot of things to say about performance
Bugs: encountered none
Animations : if it's possible to animate the sex scenes with the same degree of art then this game could legit be the next big thing
Voice Acting : doesn't need it,could do with some sfx noises during sex scene tho
Grammar : didn't notice any faults,does it even matter i am an ESL.
Amount of content : for a 0.19 game it has alot,ALOT of content to jerk off to.

WOULD RECOMMEND !

I can be quick about this:

- Pro:
- Very nice art with great depiction of female parts. Way better than most drawn porn games.
- Little needless texts, and conversations
- Plays fast
- Has corruption, even says what choices will lead to this. But it is kinda instant: Corrupt choice: Now she is somehow your complete bitch

- Con:
- Very simplistic, and VERY repetative and grindy. You have to do the same things over and over to get progress. And though you can do those in a few clicks, it does get boring.

Great concept, cant wait to see where it ends up. My only gripes are the lack of character development in between each scene, and the female AI character. Everything else is great, the artwork, writing, and (manageable)grind are all made well and compliment each other.

This is a very pure game. It's basically a shoestring plot that serves as an excuse to try out all kinds of situations with a number of different character archetypes. With lots of skipping and a general sense of what to do, you can get to the scenes very quickly, and complete a character's route of half a dozen scenes or so in about 15 minutes. Even without skipping, the scenes come early and often, as any required objectives are very easy to complete. This vision of knowing exactly what the focus is and making no excuses or attempts otherwise makes for a painless, streamlined experience. Grinding is minimal, and unlocking further characters is usually as simple as "try the option you haven't tried yet".

The scenes themselves are adequate. A distinct artstyle that's fairly appealing, and a handful of images that cycle through to supplement the lack of animation. Although what the presentation lacks in variety, the scenarios more than make up for it.

Basically it's the porn game equivalent of "quantity over quality" with a torrent of well enough scenes overtaking any semblance of plot, gameplay, character development, intrigue, or staying power. Good for a quickie in a fairly unique niche, but probably not anyone's favorite for long.
