Ren'Py - Completed - S.H.E.L.T.E.R. - An Apocalyptic Tale [v1.0] [Winterlook]

I must say it's not bad. I was having fun playing. 4 stars review because to short in my opinion and linear plot. Graphics not bad but not great eighter.
Apart from the cons, pretty solid game for couple hours. (Sorry form my English to all who are fluent in it )

A good game using the REnpy engine. It follows a blank slate MC that goes through a post-Fallout world. There's different girls to go for and good drawings. The gallery could be made better by changing it to view the whole scene as well. The writing is alright, and the characters are different enough to be unique. It is a bit difficult and convoluted getting all unlocks though

Good:
interesting story, simple game, great graphic for 2D game, and girls are hot.

Bad:
there is no in-game hint (don't know what to do with the item or what should the MC do for the characters' quests).

Although I enjoy the games that inspired this, and the nuclear fallout setting grips me, I couldn't bring myself to finish this.

It had the right setting, the intro boded well and the art was cutesy.

But then the dialog, plot, and character progress are straight-forward and leave little to the imagination.

I like to get into characters before I get into them But I couldn't really empathize. They felt too fabricated. Too nonsensical. After a couple of talks and a coffee or so, you're up in their wazoo. Especially with the taboo relations that sort of quick-and-easy defeats the point. Taboo's meant to rush or shock, rather than gently pass by without worry or impact. That's my take on it anyway.

As for gameplay, there's a town you can help, saving up finances to build it up. Admittedly I didn't get through the whole game so my view is lacking.


I'd recommend this to those who are forgiving with character depth, and like the art style and fallout setting.

Finally a game with the pregnancy tag that actually has a pregnancy mechanic. You can impregnate pretty much every character in this game, they go through a pregnancy stage where you can have sex with them while pregnant, and they eventually give birth.

Other aspects of this game that were enjoyable were:

• large cast of characters
• decent diversity in those characters (including an optional futa character)
• a surprising amount of freedom
• less grind compared to other VN's
• solid scenes

However, the art style was a bit lacking at certain times, especially the art for your infant children which look like something straight out of a nightmare. The plot was serviceable at its best and laughably bad at its worst. The pacing is wicked fast, which is personal preference; if you prefer a slow burn, this ain't what you're looking for.

Overall, more enjoyable than I thought it would be. Far from perfect, but good scenes/hot characters with a functioning pregnancy mechanic makes this worth looking at if that's your thing.

Nah wasn't worth the amount of data i had to download . The game is 99.9 percent still imagry i think there is one animated scene and it wasn't good and they have one song the wole game honestly it would have been ok if they animated and added some sound effects. The story line is kinda weird too . Repopulate the earth but its like when you go out of the shelter and mc's wisters qnd mother go outside why are they still with this mind set that mc is the only man onnearth with a working dick. Also if you dad can fix a spider mutation but not his own dick.... Nah its soo much grinding with a stupid story and not enough content

Amazing game with plenty of content, no grind and a surprising amount of choices that actually matter. The amount of sexual content is also insane. Even girls that are introduced relatively late into the story still receive a great amount of attention in the form of interactions and sex scenes.
Conclusion:
Honestly, if I were to talk about everything I loved about this game, the review would be way too long. That's why I decided to criticize a few things too. I didn't even mention how your relationship with Tiffany can result in her just giving you a lot of stuff for free, or how the game lets you interact with the girls by asking them trivial questions, or how all sex scenes can be repeated by interacting with the girl, or how you're given choices in places where other games would just force you to go with the flow; the list goes on and on. I only don't give this game five stars because that would be ignoring all the things that could've been more fleshed out.

I recommend this game to pretty much anyone who hasn't already played it. No matter what, this game is a very fun experience no matter what you're into. And if you're a completionist like me, you'll have a lot of fun seeing all the content you missed.

As IGN always says, there's something for everyone.

Visuals are nice but there aren't many/enough of them compared to text and in itself the text is too much, I just skipped most of it without reading towards the end. It's grindy with not much pay off but incest and pregnancy is great so it's a flat 3 stars at best.

Awesome game, it has enough story, it does lack a bit in variety of graphics especially sexual, but with all that it still is awesome game. I hope the story or something similar will be made in future

I am a fan of post apocalypse theme games and this is not exception.
The content is 4/5. I quite like the manger part
The text is 4/5. His/her writing is good.
Art is 3/5. It is just acceptable. I think if only he/she added more pictures, it would be much better.

I played the game start to finish, it would be hard to say I didn't enjoy it. With that being said, I think there was a lot left on the table.

Loved the outfits, wish there were more.

This may be an unpopular opinion but I think my expectations were too high when I downloaded this. It was good and its worth 5 stars for sure but I expected it to be a lot better then it was

In any case the art is really good and I liked how the game worked as far as its management mechanics. In fact I would say the part that made me feel like it didn't reach my expectations was that it seemed like it was over really fast. I had expected a lot more content with characters and more character build up.

The family seemed really easy going when it came to sex stuff and really jumped on the idea of kicking out the father as if it was just normalized. I guess there is no corruption tag but I do think that there should still have been some elements of the family being a little more against the idea and suddenly stepping into this crazy plot.

There was also "little" scenes when it came to build up with those characters don't get me wrong there is definitely a lot of content. Just felt like content that went by really quickly or was really easy to breeze through.

Anyway, its a really good game and its worth playing through.

A pretty good harem game. Art is awesome. Girls are unique (unlike some other games, none of em are with unrealistic proportianate plastic dolls).story progression is great. Love route and corruption route will reward you with totally diffrent seks scenes. and best part is you can knock up almost all the girls in the game. I totally respect creator for providing an option to avoid dick girl. most of the decisions u make will have an impact.I did not encounter any bugs as well.
There's no negatives but only a few suggestions..

• I really wish the game will have fully animated scenes in future(like definitive edition)
• Could improve the epilogue with some extra scenes or how your shelter/humanity progress.(like making a nursery or school for all of your kids lol)

This game is one of the better graphic novel games I've played. The characters were really well done and the scenes were all believable . I wish that there was more options and more locations because it was so good I wanted more. Would like to see a sequel to this game with the MC as mayor and maybe expanding or exploring new areas.

Simple and straightforward game. While there may not be any real depth behind your choices it tells you what your actions do upfront without hidden consequences. That is it's flaw, but at the same time it's greatest charm.
Little grind and padding, hardly frustrated with the gameplay.
Until completion it has also been regularly updated, and slowly but surely arrived at this point.
Winterlook seems like a trustworthy maker to back, and if you do like this work why not try to show your support?

Varied love interests, corruption vs romance option for some characters, Solid art and an interesting enough story to be worth reading as apposed to skipping to get to the next sex scene (there are a lot).

It's not all good of course, the game's artist draws male characters a bit strangely. They look kind of how I'd expect a trans character to (originally female) it's not a big deal too me.

Story wise there isn't enough background given on the player or "oscar" and relationships of the shelter members with each other. Shelter members mention some kind of moral dilema when getting into a relationship and I don't know why, maybe I will try my next playthrough with the incest mod and see if that makes more sense.

I don't like how avoiding the preg content requires condom usage. I don't have a condom or preg fetish and it's annoying to have to choose one or the other. Not a big deal but it's something that could have been very easily addressed by just saying they are taking pills instead.

It's more of an interactive noval than a proper game but I was expecting that. I would have loved a survial sim but im not expecting that from a Ren'Py game.

Overall I liked it, recommended.

The game has awesome art and is easy to understand. The story and dialogue are not game aspects which are amazing in their own right. They are fun nonetheless though. That being said, the game knows what it is selling and does that well.

A great game overall, watching this one for a while now. The art is the most amazing thing in this, while the corruption and romance are both well done, if a bit rushed (fall in love fast, get corrupted like, instantly).

Most importantly, the game sticks to it's course, unlike the author's previous game, The Fate of Irnia, which sets up one thing and then rides the plot off of a fucking cliff.

Only minor conmplaint would be the sex scenes, system could be better imo. Apart from that, its a great game. An adventure with interesting characters, and you really feel a sense of progress with this one. I enjoy the art and the fact that it has replay value with all the possible routes.

Great game, one of my favourites for sure.

Pretty mediocre
I'm gonna keep this one pretty short

The good:
-Renders
pretty high quality, some faces are a bit weird but everything else is great. the art style is consistent and well executed.


The Mediocre:
-Most other things
The gameplay (sandbox and a bit of resource management I guess?) is pretty uninteresting, getting around and handling menus is just bearable but definitely far from great, there's a very major focus on impregnation, plenty of characters with multiple (corruption or romance) paths for some.

The bad:
-Writing
It's just bad.
The dialogs are mind numbing, the characters are shallow, uninteresting and hardly believable. the story is... there, for some reason, and mostly feels like a tool to provide some gameplay and different endings.
On corruption paths things go from 0 to 100 in a millisecond - characters turn from people to depraved cum-addicted begging bimbos in a heartbeat, the moment you pick the "corruption" option, it was so ridiculous I had a good laugh multiple times.
The romance paths are so uninteresting and suffers from the 0 to 100 issue I mostly skipped them after seeing how things goes.
Honestly, when it comes to the writing - S.H.E.L.T.E.R barely has any excuse having dialogue instead of being a gallery mod.

TL;DR -
good renders, BAD writing, probably an OK choice if you're impregnation fan, otherwise its a barely serviceable sandbox game that you may wanna skip in favor of a gallery mod or rush through if you're looking to kill a couple of hours.
