I played the initial 0.1 version and it seemed to have potential then. Now it kind of went a bit off course so to speak. I played a bit of the latest 1.0.1 and i do have some things to point out.
1. Movement speed- The movement seems too slow, especially sprinting. It does feel like your character is running but rather trying to pretend run. It's obvious in the ending cutscene of chapter 1.
2. Interaction with objects- I really don't like how the object interactions feel. Main gripe is the doors. Before we could press E to open and close them, now we need to slam our faces into the doors. This also sometimes breaks the AI of Lily, making her stuck in front of the door when its open. It was useful with interact to close the doors, as it would let the player slow Lily down a peg. Then there is the objects. If we are supposed to find the relics and bring them to the altars WIHTOUT an inventory function, why not just press the LMB to pick and and press again to drop, instead of making us press and hold to keep the items afloat. I understand the whole objective of dragging the artifact to the objective with the way the level was designed, but it was really annoying to do.
3. Cursed church locked doors- This was annoying which made me turn off the game after trying play and then being annoyed by the sprint speed. I managed to find the code for the door which were pretty far away. (The feature to display the codes from the paper on top left was really useful) and then i tried to unlock the door. The lock turning is really buggy as its not detecting the mouse input 80% of the time. I had to exit and renter multiple times just for one number. I would recommend switching it to the keyboard version, as the mouse clicking was annoying as is. After unlocking, we have to press E manually to exit as well, which was more annoying. After entering the locked room, lo and behold there was NOTHING there other than the skeleton and cage assets. AND IT WAS A SINGLE ROOM.
4. The piano slam sound- It's really off-putting that it plays at certain intervals, rather than something happening in-game. Would be better if it played when Lily noticed you.
5. The home- I feel like home section is introduced pre-maturely. Maybe have it be unlocked after completing the main story of the game or have it be its own separate button on the main menu.
