I think certain graphical settings are hiding the focus too, so depending on what your graphics look like you might not have it in focus even though it looks like it.
Likewise you can have more or less grass on graphical settings, and I don't know if taking pictures through grass that isn't rendered makes a difference or not? It'd feel like a pretty weird balance issue if turning the graphics down resulted in better sightlines and better pictures as a result.
