Steam needs to make an NSFW service separate from their SFW store that only partners with payment methods that are okay with NSFW.
I don't believe censorship is the answer. I am sure they can make "SteamXXX" as popular as Steam.
It's Valve for crying out loud. They could even make a sub-company so they don't have to fear ruining their image.
I totally get why both AceStudio and Steam have to make these decisions (monetization + freedom), but I feel there are better solutions, and removing the incest, as unethical/bad as it may be, kind of defeats a lot of the desire behind it.

I get the idea and actually agree with it but the problem with that is there's (at least from what I understand and know) no partners with payment methods that are okay with NSFW since it's a duopoly.
Unless Steam brings back the option to pay with crypto but that honestly has it's own set of problems. This is also one of the reasons why Steam and Itch folded so easily (against their will I know). Making a storefront that deals in adult only stuff would mean replacing the payment processor and that's close to impossible at the moment given that we have no alternative.

Fun game, sad to see that it will get somewhat censored.
Btw, the game brightness was annoying me (very hard to see some things, even reading was painful) so I went to find some ways to work around it so here is a quick graphical workaround until dev rework on graphics/brightness.
Note: It uses Reshade
Install instructions:
If you want a something closer to the dreamy aesthetic you can fiddle around with the bloom as your like.
Anyway, I've said to much already, preview of what to expect below.

- Should be working by default, if that is not the case.
2a. Press Home key and click
2b. Select Reshade_Butler and press Home key again to close.
- UI will look oversaturated.
- Map Locations hard to read.
- Lucy blush is a bit fucked up...

Wow, thanks for that. I didn't care for how bright/hazy it was either. That looks MUCH better. I'll give it a whirl.

Why isn't Valve limiting/filtering games purchases based on payment types? Your Steam Wallet can be loaded via Cash (gift card) or other methods.
Valve then limits AO purchases to Steam Wallets only -- making it a *CASH* purchase effectively. That's a win for Valve as now they make money on the back end residual interest of effectively zero-interest, non-transferable, savings accounts.
OR, Valve spins up their own "PayPal" like system for EFT transfers to remove card processor from the equation. EFTs are like check transfers. That how PayPal does payments so their have reduced or zero inter-banking transfer fees.

Right. It's a whole can of worms.
There are a few payment processors that are okay with adult material, but they aren't very well known/received.
Crypto would be the answer, but like you said, that's also got issues.
I have heard about situations like JAST's and how much they get suppressed. Beaten down bit by bit.
That's why Steam needs to start thinking, and fast. Once these payment processors hold control over them on one thing, they'll try to control them on as much as they please.
It has been an ongoing problem for far too long.
Something needs to change.
Either the existing payment processors need to understand that there is a viable market for this stuff, or a new one needs to emerge and rise to the top.
NSFW and SFW does not need to be mixed together, it would be nice, but that is not what the minimum request even is.
I could see if people were trying to pirate it, but most are willing to pay.
It's not just about sexual content. It's about our rights, and who has a say over what we can or cannot merchandise.
I am sure you all know this by now though. We give too much power and trust to the wrong bodies.
The freedom in our world becomes less and less each day.
I hope for the best outcome.
