All in all, this just sounds like a lot of generalizing and misinterpreting things to create useless drama over a pony porn game.
So again, if you are upset about the update being a mess, fine, that makes sense. But I fail to see the point of starting shit over it.

You can downplay his most active channel and most active posters if you want. Personally, I'm not going to bat for comments like:

How am I making a fuss over your support? I could not care less about your support of this or any project! I'm fine with people making complaints and/or criticisms, but spreading nonsense about "milking supporters" or complaining about an unimportant part of the server has little baring on the game or its updates.

But fine, whatever, we clearly have different ideas about the meaning of "drama" so I think it's best to just stop now. Hopefully you guys can actually enjoy the game when it finally updates instead of getting caught up in whatever the hell this is.

I don't get why people are willing to pay so much for so little. I mean, 2$/month is 24$/year. That's a lot of money for a game that isn't completed. I guess it follows the modern trend of games releasing in early-access and being fixed years later.
But having the audacity to have a patreon tier at 22$/month is just mind boggling. People simp harder everyday

Besides, the dude is either lazy as fuck, clueless about development planning or simply started this as a hobby and can't keep up with the demand. Whatever the case he's screwing all his supporters big time, and should reconsider whatever the fuck he's doing.

The irony is that beeing heavily inspired by Rack, this game is following the same development hell path as Rack 2. (To be fair that dude is making 20k+ a month, while this one only 2k+, and Rack 2 is way more barebones that SHF)

So... how about other games, perhaps those which are basically abandoned, or some which are already abandoned but still get a lot of money?
It's not always the fault of the dev, it's the people that decide whether they would like to invest or not. If they keep investing despite failures (taking too long, broken promises, etc.) it's on them, not the dev. You could say that he is responsible for the content he delivers, but people always assume that automatically more has to happen once the dev gets more money.
I guess if the dev is passionate enough they will actually invest it into the game development to either increase the quality, quantity or improve other aspects. But he isn't forced to do it, and that's where the usual drama starts.

So, to sum it up, it is just about the expectations we have for each other. More money means higher expectations from consumers. Depending on the dev it can actually count as support, either for the dev or the game development, but in reality patrons technically get what they paid for, and those are the patron tiers.
The dev doesn't even have to finish his product, people should be aware that they pay for the current state, not what it might be in the future, that is the point of early access. When you compare it to a demo, a demo shows a part of the finished product, or what should be expected from it, but early access just shows the current state, with the possibility for a finished product but also the chance for an unfinished one.

You know, at this point you can't blame the devs. If you haven't been updating your game in months and people are still giving you 3k+ dollars with more than 400+ patreons, I won't work either; why bother.
People that have a lot of money don't know how to spend it usually.

1. Game dev hits a spaghetti-code wall; the reasonably-updated game grinds to a halt as he works on it.
2. It's been quite a few months now since the last real update, and the dev is mostly radio-silent, on top of not pausing the Patreon
3. After months of waiting, Levy dropped a preview build to tame the crowd, but from the player's perspective, there's hardly anything different to justify the wait.
4. Discord drama, people taking things in and out of context, blah, blah, blah. I don't really follow that mess, so IDK.
5. Still no update, or any real estimates or promises.
6. BoredLord dropping by every now and then to bump the thread to say people need to stop bumping the thread.
7. Still no sign the game's getting updated any time soon.

Honestly there's not a lot to talk about since the development is so dead, so people are just discussing and arguing about what little we know about the few things related to the game that isn't dead.
It's like getting tired of beating a dead horse (haha) and choosing to watch the flies instead.

Dev actually started posting updates and work streams few weeks ago (anyone can check it).
And his earnings are growing again sincethe beginning of this year.

Actual TL DR news:
* Levy is working on characters rigs. He found the way he will be doing them and working on that.
* New test build should be avaible soon.
* He got a new artist that will make some assets.
