I doubt Patreon staff know, but:
1. MLP characters have specific designs based on their age.
2. Kids have completely different models than the adults.
3. MLP horses mature the same speed as people do, apparently. (No clue about lifespans though.)
Also, probably related, but Patreon doesn't like "bestiality" and/or bestiality, and the MLP ponies are a bit of a gray area because the rule for bestiality is pretty much focused on "REAL" animals, but the MLP horses are multicolored, can talk, and can optionally have wings or horns. I mean, they're based on those miniature horses pretty much to-scale, but yeah, gray area.
I mean we know RD's official age for real (21, though we don't know if they're all properly aging as the show goes on, so it could vary based on season) and we know she's probably the youngest of the main cast based on her design during the rainboom flashback (could've just been a runt though, I guess).
FS is probably the oldest if we go by that flashback, and she's got a younger brother who flunked out of college, though we don't know how much older she'd be compared to the rest of the team other than her being 1 year older than PP and everyone's general designs in the flashback not varying that much.
Faust said something like she wanted the cast to be late teens - early 20s, so it fits.
I know I'm just kinda re-stating what you've said, but I wanted to test my memory of the show.

I'm gonna be real: Is the update, whenever it releases, even going to be worth the wait? I feel like at this point the longer and longer it takes the more disappointing the result is going to be. Maybe the real treasure will be a higher rate of updates after this?

maybe. I just want modding in this next build to be more accessible. the amount of shit we could put in would be legendary.
tbh what we've seen in the progress updates has been pretty impressive for one guy struggling with physical and metal health. It seem like he's going to make good on what he's proposed. Adding modding support is pretty big and coding a whole new reactions system from the ground up is impressive. If there is a release next I expect it to be buggy, not to insult him but there's a lot going on at once and bugs will be found after more people get thier hands on the game. I am still very much looking forward to it though.

It'll be disappointing if you've spent the last however-long thinking that all this time is being spent on adding content. The update may have less content than the current version, I seem to remember reading somewhere. The dev is building a whole reaction simulation system so once that's done it should open the gates for more in-depth content than before.

Dude. even if there's only like 1 pony as long as there's a way to import your own characters or mod them. I would be fine with that even. this is one of the best simulator engines and I just want more creative control.
The ability to easily mod a game can basically triple whatever content there is avaible. I mean just look at Skyrim, that game wouldnt be even half this popular without the modding community creating content for practically everyone.

I'd rather the dude pace himself and release updates when he can rather than set unrealistic deadlines and then self-flagellate ad infinitum for missing them.
