It was getting interesting until I realized that you have to choose what to do. I wish they had a version of this game where you didn't have to choose what to do. I don't mind sandbox but this is too much. I never know what to do.

This early in the game? Everything except skipping days. You need to grind up affection numbers with everyone to find what their next event might be. That will sort you out most of the time. Very rarely you need to see someone on a friday afternoon, and only merely rarely will you need to call someone.

Guessing the dev is taking the month off, and holding up the free release of 0.30.5 in the process. Didn't even announce they were taking a break, and if they did announce it in the update schedule I can't read it because it's in a patron only post.

The characters are nice, I like them, but I have no idea what to do in the game, I can't understand what I need to do to move forward in the story. :/

Most of the time it's fine. It's faster to turn on text skip, after choices on, unseen text off. Then just visit random areas and you'll likely get a event. Once you've caught up to the latest update you can just go to the spaces the character in the latest update got extra text and check there.
There's only one infuriating one I found, visiting a specific location on a friday. And occasionally you need to call someone to start an event chain, though that only starts happening in the later half of the game.

Do you sometimes see a message saying image missing? There's a chance you're updating from patches, and missed a patch, then got a updated script from a newer patch which stops things exploding.
If you've got all the patches, unzip them again in order. Or redownload the whole game.
Damn that's rough, this game only pulls in $127 a month. I though Koikatsu games were money makers.

I would call this mildly successful. It doesn't help how the discussion around it is terribly soulless. The best place to have a discussion about the game is in the itch-io comments because the discord is subscriber only, or at least the link to it is. And the fact the roadmap is private every second time it's posted, and it feels like there's no way to tell the dev about it without having to pay them.
I've been waiting for Hana updates to play again.
