Dude, not at all. I lambast the use of Gen-AI for being anti-human fake futurism bullshit that serves to only enable spam and scam artists. I frequently critique the writing and dialogue in (get this) visual novels. I find that 95% of the audience here wouldn't appreciate a good character if they found one, and likewise 95% of devs here couldn't write themselves out of a wet paper bag. I am the animation student that is going to tell any dev up-front that doing bad animations is far worse (in terms of end product, time, effort, and resource allocation) than not doing them at all. I am usually the person with the most unpopular opinion in the room; and that includes the opinion that everyone who bemoans 'it's only a porn game' in response to any criticism are the most useless wastes of space here.

There is a metric fuck-ton of rough that needs to be sifted through to get at the small handful of diamonds that are to be found here.

While I agree that this dev certainly has the writing chops to make a SFW choose-your-own-adventure dark fantasy visual novel, we do have to face reality here; and that reality is that given the otherwise glacial pace of that story, the NSFW scenes are the mortar holding this entire structure together. Now it's up to each person individually to determine whether or not that's an adequate trade off, but seeing as how the devs are still going strong it seems to be working out for them and their paying audience at least.

Let's be candid, while they still at least delivered some "solid" content over the last years... many end users won't care and only notice that the story is at a full stop, hasn't made any meaningful progress in a long time. Or that they kept teasing some alternative route (the Astarte one i believe) that only exists in name. I can't blame those people for feeling that way.

Sure. That's valid criticism, and rises above the simple accusation of 'milking' by raising some demonstrably true facts about the game's development outside of just pointing at a start date. We can sit back and bemoan the lack of story progression, but at this point, is real progression what the folks who are paying for it want? I don't know. I'm not privy to their funding or the demands of their Patrons. It could be they were far too overtly ambitious, and have now gotten stuck missing the forest for the trees, because it is the individual trees that keeps the Patrons opening up their wallets month after month. I don't know, it's all speculation on my part. What I do know however is that their content is solid, and the devs haven't fallen off the face of the earth. They might spend too much time navel gazing and lack direction, but they're not scammers.

Don't forget that they also did an overhaul of the art style relative to the beginning. The original art style was much more cartoonish in nature, and has shifted into something much more aesthetically fitting for the tone of the game.

I think a lot of people forget that every game on here is a *game*. They're not kinetic novels. If this was just about churning out scenes, I think 2 scenes a month is probably slow (especially since they're rarely animated) - but there is an underlying RPG/choice element to this game that slows down the process.

To be fair, these devs haven't put a 1 million polygon toothbrush into their game and done the surprise Pikachu face when the game's performance tanked. Again, overly ambitious and lack of direction sure; but not complete incompetence.

True, that's a subjective valuation. I would posit however that they are putting out good quality content. It's just that it is more NSFW content that does little to push the story forward, rather than story content that really pushes the narrative to its conclusion. Again, folks are free to be disappointed that the content being made is not to their liking, but I don't think anyone can unbiasedly call the content they are making 'bad' for what it is.

That would depend entirely on to what standard you would consider someone to be 'unbiased', because everyone comes with some level of bias in their thoughts and actions.

The writing is solid. It is descriptive, engaging, erotic, and at base level is grammatically solid. The cast have desires, motivations, goals, and personalities; in other words they are characters. You can quibble over the content, but if your complaint is content based rather than on the fundamentals, that's inherently a biased take. Is the writing perfect? No. I'm sure it could be improved, but it is by no stretch of the imagination 'bad' in any fundamental way.

The art is pretty fantastic. It's painterly presentation lends itself to the dark fantasy aesthetic very well. The proportions, perspective, and anatomy are all really solid. Their artists demonstrably know their craft, and have a strong grasp of the fundamentals. Again, is it perfect? No. But you really need to be up on your own game before you can start nit-picking their work; and not liking the content is not the same is critiquing it for quality of the work itself. So again, nobody can honestly look at the art and call it 'bad' in any fundamental sense.

The animation however is another subject, and most of it is very much lack-luster. It suffers from not nearly enough keyframes, resulting in a very rough and choppy presentation. Part of this is due in no small part to the fact that the art being used does not lend itself to being easily animated, and they just don't have either the time or the skill to make it work like it should. Again their art style is a major handicap here. Good animation is already hard, and their art only makes it harder.


Everyone has bias, and I don't expect people to entirely jettison their biases and become emotionless automatons. If I just wanted an uncritical take without any real feeling involved, I'd ask Chat-GPT to shit out some word salad. Being able to recognize bias, put it aside when needed, and otherwise engage with it when called for, is the hallmark of good critique. Much in the same way a good news reporter shouldn't just tell you the facts of a situation or story (e.g. the US implementing unprecedently high trade tariffs the world over), but should also be able to display their bias by giving commentary on why it is good or bad and for what reason (e.g. it has destroyed decades worth of soft power, is undermining US allies while bolstering hostile foreign powers, all in exchange for instigating a economic recession that benefits only the uber-wealthy who can weather the storm).

It has been answered multiple times in the thread, but let's reiterate. Only Patreon/Steam distributions have cuts due to the respective platforms' limitations on non-consensual/non-human/etc content; the distribution usually shared in the OP is taken from itch.io (cue the "non-patreon" label), which features the original uncut scenes.

What you're describing is basic creative writing though. Like entry-level, first year creative writing course stuff that they'd teach, some of it maybe even basic high school level education expectation of English language.

It's not entirely unreasonable for someone who reads the description of the game as a visual novel, or having reactive story-telling to expect more nuanced story-telling and characterisation than the basics.
