The reason is quite simple. Early and more frequent releases is the only perk you get for subscribing on Patreon and the like. If Steam and GOG get the same release scheldule that removes any incentive to pledge and that is most of their revenue gone, meaning no more development and game dead.
The issue here isn't the frequent updates nor development news. The issue is a product that has been promised to a customer who paid for updates in a 4 months interval. That isn't what is happening here i do not want to pirate this game anymore (i found it on this site) so to support the creators i bought it on steam. What i expect is a product delivered in the aforementioned time nothing more.
Is it too much to ask?
