Ren'Py - Seeds of Chaos [v0.4.13a] [Vénus Noire]

This is such a difficult game to rate. I've been playing it on and off since one of the earlier releases and the biggest problem i see with the project is that it seems aimless.

The smut, H-scenes and the writing are top notch. Yes, there are some scenes with just a black screen, but how everything is written is so good that you can imagine the scene in your head. One thing i love about this game, and i think more games should do is create a barrier between the player and the MCs.

Because yes, for me both Rowan and Alexia are the MCs, specially because you make decisions with both characters. This situation and the idea that they are characters and not you create a possibility to just go crazy and put then in the more perverse situations possible just to have fun. Playing this game i don't feel like i'm Rowan or Alexia, i'm the director of a porn movie or something like that.

Like i said, more games should replicate that, it's very fun. For me the problem with this game is the gameplay and how aimless it feels. The sex scenes outside of the keep are so boring and the entire progression of the story, tied with the possibility of game overs if you don't progress enough is really grating.

This is absolutely a game that needs a Walkthrough, specially because you may miss a scene you may want, or even get a scene you don't want because the choices just aren't well enough explained. This sometimes can feel like a violation of trust between you and the game. Thankfully, save scumming is always possible and necessary here to prevent headaches.

The dev team needs to focus on two things to make this a masterpiece. Some quality of life additions to the UI and gameplay, more focus the main story to make it more engaging than the keep moments. The main problem is that they seem to be harmstrung by a mix of big ideas with not enough resources to make them possible and since they are trying to please every possibility, fetish and perversion imaginable, it's difficult to make drastic changes to the game and progress the story in an unexpected way.

So it's really good, if you can overcome theses problems. But they weight a lot and make this game not for everyone. The real rate would be a 3.5, but since you can't do that, i'm gonna rate up because i do have a lot of affection for this game, and i hope the dev team can find some focus, take this game in a great direction and all the way to the finishing line. So temper your expectations.

PS: Can we have some way to take Alexia away from the keep? Her scenes are great but because of being a prisoner it's starting to get repetitive.

What I like is the artstyle, not many quality 2d art out in the market,

What i dislike is the gameplay which is absolute a chore to play with, the game mechanic needs to be revamped. too many dark screens aka missing H scene which kinda annoys me.

Hopefully the developer will do something about the gameplay. That's what stops me from playing the game atm.

An excellent game, I've been playing it's updates for years now and it keeps getting better and better.
I'd highly recommend for anyone who likes a great plot and lots of scenes of all different nature.

In future, i'm hoping for more Alexia scenes with anyone, but happy to see any progress made!

Too boring, I don't know why this game and its patreon is so popular. It lacks any interesting simulation gameplay and dating sim or sandbox gameplay. However, the creator got 10x than the wicked rogue's creator from patreon. OK, I just don't like this game.

It's the one game I keep returning to. The art style is just absolutely fantastic, the writing is very well done, and the game gives you more than enough choices to shape the story to your liking. Combined with genuinely engaging city building (or castle building, in this case), this game makes for a fantastic experience!

The Gay Tag review

The majority of this game has straight scenes (the premises are after all a MC that accepts to be a servant of demons for his wife, after all), but there is a sizeable minority of gay scenes (not necessarily forced). So you can carve a rather satisfying "gay path" in the game by avoiding the vast majority of str8 scenes -one has just to be aware that a good amount of content will be skipped.

Great game. It's one of the few out there where you have an interesting multi-choice story, a convincing castle-management side, and a fun exploration side all together with no part feeling undercooked. The graphic style is excellent, very intriguing (to me at least) and very sensual and decadent, something that most computer graphics games aren't able to reproduce. I like how the corruption theme insinuates slowly but inevitably in the story (with pace regulated by the player), it really renders the feeling of progression well. This is one of those games I'm reluctant to play release-by-release because I want to experience the "real thing" once it's fully ready!

This is without a doubt one of the most ambitious adult games currently in development. The art is original and beautifully drawn, the plot is unique and engaging and the devs seem to be active and committed. Its also fairly inclusive - offering a wide variety of scenes that will appeal to people of all tastes and perversions. The scenes are also telegraphed well so its unlikely you will be exposed to something that you don't want to see.

However, it is not without its drawbacks - all of which can be attributed to its sheer size. While progress is consistently made, the scope of the game is so large that it seems like it may be in development for years. Not necessarily a knock against the game, but those looking for a conclusion will be left waiting. Additionally, again because it is such an ambitious project, some may be turned off waiting for the storylines that they want to be updated.

Finally, taking the lewd elements out of it, there seems to be a really interesting and engaging game classic RPG-like design there that just hasn't been fully utilized. They're obviously a fairly small outfit, so it's hard to blame them for not being able to address all of these issues but its hard to see the devs' unimplemented vision and not wonder "what if?".

This is without a doubt a game I can't wait to buy in its completed form, but for now, I'll just settle for rooting for these devs to finish their grand vision.

I seriously don’t get all the hate this game gets, it’s definitely one of the best h-games I have ever played:

-the best movement system of any renpy game on this site.
-lot of renders by different artists
-lots of choices which matter, and different ways of going about things, cyoa
-resource allocation and strategy as well as moral quarrels
-lots of free roam
-solid writing and great characters you actually feel for
( had to revert a bunch of times so the main couple stays together, they deserve it, after all they‘ve been trough)

There is really nothing to lose when trying out this game and I‘m sure you will like if you give it a chance.


further ways of improving:
-character animations (escpecially for the Mc which u see quite often, even if it’s just blinking would make a huge impact)(maybe some voice acting, even if its just yes/no)
-because of the many free elements and choices a lot of the work the developers puts into never reaches the player, because the choose a different choice for example. (There should be some way of seeing this scenes as well, without replaying. Maybe the MC finds some kind of magic mirror which lets him see different realities if he had made different choices, as well as tips for locked gallery pictures and the ability to explore different choices or something)
-for inspiration I would advise the developer to maybe look at „ravager“, another high quality renpy fantasy game.

- Although you can make corrupting choices, the two MC (male and female) do not seem to alter/difference much throughout game. She stays naive and gullible, he stays basically the good guy

Looking forward to completion. Though, I'd prefer if Rowan had "better" sex arcs(?) similar to Alexia's. Not necessarily with him being the sub, possibly another character who isn't already sex crazed.

Excellent game, waiting for the next update. There are certain blank/black screens, are those artworks incomplete? Also I seem to have gotten around 90% of the cg, is there any way of getting all. I have played it over 3 times but can't seem to get them yet.

Like the game a lot. Would like to see spots on the map not get locked out if you go to them too early. Good mix of straight and gay stuff. Also nice that you don't have to see any sex scenes if you don't want too Game is still very much wip but worth trying.

Game is not finished, but it has everything one can hope to get out of the game (sex, intrigue, story, unique NPCs). Fantasy setting allows game developers to really explore and experiment with characters, setting and game mechanics.

This game fantastic. You can roam around the map and make choices. Theres inventory and fantasy trade things but not like in an rpgm thats the reason I like so much. Story is interesting. Artwork is beautiful. It will be a unuqie and special game if it will be completed.

Great game, with a lot of love put into it. A bunch of different kinks content options that are generally well signposted so it's pretty clear what you're choosing.

It's still in development, but content releases are regular and explained well. Right now the only (legitimate) ways to ge tthe game are through patreon or steam, and I def think it's worth throwing a few bucks at, but you can check out the older free version to see if it's something you like.

There are a LOT of NPCs. And it can be a bit tough not to fall behind on the Rpg elements if you just horndog around like I usually do, but th world/story is really quite elaborate and there is definitely a full game here besides the sex.

This is my first review of any game so forgive me. With that being said I've played through this game multiple times and I can honestly say it's one of the best H-games I've played. I can feel the amount of love that went into the writing and world-building. The characters are pretty straight forward so far but I feel like they'll start to open up as later builds are released. The sex scenes are very well written with the added effect of influence from the choices you make as the main character. I found myself invested and could feel the pit in my stomach as some of the NTR scenes played out. The collaboration on the art is a great move imo it keeps things fresh and interesting. The open worldness of the game is a little too reliant on RNG and makes some scenes hard to come by. granted this is an early build so of course there are bugs one main thing I wanted to point out was the scene player doesn't update after a certain point. All in all seeds of chaos is definitely one of my favorite narrative-driven H games and I'm excited to see more to come.

One of the best h-games I have enjoyed so far.

Pros:

- great storywriting
- great graphics
- great h-scenes, some are animated too
- a lot of different kinks
- ntr is completely avoidable even (but personally like the ntr part)
- interesting and unique characters
- dozens of hours playtime
- they greatly improved the randomness of events

cons:

- still encountered some minor bugs but nothing game breaking and it's fully ok for a game of this size (for example saw events with characters before they've been introduced)
- don't like the level system. It takes a lot of time to even reach 1-2 level and it doesn't feel like you get "stronger". Don't really like the whole rolling die system either. But that system isn't that important imo yet so I wouldn't even substract points for that.
- one of the pros can be a con too. If you only like one kink included in the game it might take some time till there are new scenes you like

Overall one of the best games on this site imo. Especially like how the game handles the Alexia corruption part and can't wait for more Alexia content.

20+ hrs of content but you're probably not gonna like this is if you're not into non-con/dub-con.
Half the game is a VN, the other half is a hexagon-based turn-based overland exploration game.
There are a lot of choices that directly affect the scenes and the story.

Beautiful, yet sometimes inconsistent art. Great NTR progression. High fantasy and well written scenes. Likeable and attractive characters. Tons of options with different outcomes gives it a ton of replayability. Can't wait to see where this goes.

My only complain here is that the scenes drawn by momdadno are a bit too cartoonish for the main theme of this game. The ones done by the other artist (ex. Alexia's Punishment scenes) are much hotter.

Plot 5/5
Usually, a hero being defeated by enemies he can't best marks a "bad end" in other games, but here its just the beginning. The future is uncertain for him and even for us the players.

Dialog and Narration 5/5
In my opinion the highest point for this game. Some scenes are left with a black screen because the artwork hasn't been drawn for them yet, however they are still very much erotic due to the text alone. In fact, even if the whole game was text based it would still be more immersive than the majority of stuff you can find on this site.

Gameplay 3/5
Probably because its not finished yet, but the whole stats/items/mapping is more annoying than it is enjoyable.

Scene Picking 2/5
I would appreciate an easier method to viewing newly added stuff, instead of needing to have 99 saves for each decision on the playthrough so I don't miss anything. And even then the script might break. Console helps in picking scenes to play, or at least would help if the scenes were titled in a way to make it easier for players to know what happens in them.
