Others - Completed - Sengoku Rance [v1.07] [AliceSoft]

Wouldn't be surprised if this is pretty much THE game that got most people hooked into eroge's. Not much more can be said regarding this legend that hasn't already been said a hundred times on the original page. Best of the series, a genuine complex and enjoyable game even without the H, but made all the better for it. 5/5 like no doubt most of the reviewers will give it.

Gorgeous soundtrack, nice plot, hard to finish. Well, it was really hard for me.

This is the game that got me into the Rance series.

Absolutely legendary eroge series. If you are interested, pick this one up first. It does take place in the same world but at a different country with mostly brand-new characters, so you don't need to play the previous games to understand this one.

Serious, pick this up. This game is highly rated for a good reason.

Hello! It's me, Illidan! Today i will review one of the first Hgames i ever played. Hell.... It was such a long time. Sengoku Rance was epitome of gameplay in hgame for me. Well... There is also VN about mechas, but we are not talking about it now. I will rate this hgame by these categories : Translation, Story, Gameplay, Hscenes.

Translation 5/5 - I won't say anything bad about MangaGamer translation, because it certainly have it's own pros. But i prefer more fan translation. Maybe it's because i played Sengoku Rance with it first

I played Sengoku Rance both with MangaGamer and Fan TL.

Story 4-5/5 - I will rate Rance story as 4-5, because i do think that it does good job, with not pleasant scenes. There is various events, depending on choices you make during campaign, which actually influence flow of the game. Like killing coming advisor and etc.. There is also various routes, though there is one certain route which deserves 1/5 rating. It's Nanjou Ran route. I really don't understand, why they added it. Also death one of Mouri girls... Or foxgirl who infatuated with that eyeball, don't have any scene... Despite being romancable, after his death. Or girls going to enemy side due to game mechanic... Shimazu brothers and girl without love status be like

Gameplay 5/5 - Classic gameplay for hgame of that time. You can easily defend territories with one lord, beat others with strategists or simply kill everyone with unique characters! Choices in game, influence story and many more things. You can even beat blitz events, where supposedly unbeatable bot armies, can be crushed. After finishing the game, you get points and NG+, which allows you easier game start. I would say that i hated only one mechanic and it's random enemy commander capture chance, despite having skill which enchance chance of capturing him. Also shimazu brothers mechanic and their routes... But anyway, it's gameplay of classic Rance! You should try playing it

Hscenes 5/5 - I would like to argue with 5/5 rating... Because for me, scenes isn't that appealing, because of art. But there is plenty of them, which is simply incomparable to hgames and VNs, which are released recently. As far as i recall... There is plenty of rape.

Conclusion 5/5 - It's classic and everyone should try playing Sengoku Rance. Rance series, have some great world building. I spend a lot of time, playing this game and hope you will do same thing as me

This game is a strategy masterpiece. Even without the h content it's worth playing through multiple times. With that said, the artwork is very well done and I enjoy the art style. I actually like it a bit more than many of the Japanese artwork I see today. The game revolves around Rance. He's helping a struggling state to become powerful. He will attempt to take over the country and stop the new evil that emerges. The first play through has a fixed path, but in subsequent play throughs you can diverge from this path to experience new things. There are many beautiful, feminine, and strong women that get ravaged throughout the game as you would expect during a war during the 15/1600s. Despite this, it's fairly light hearted and full of humor. I would always recommend to give it a try. You can get an officially translated English version at gog.com.

wasted so much time on this game over the years, currently doin another run lol.

A masterpiece, Sengoku Rance is probably one, if not the best on the series, and probably one of the best erogames in general, is really fun to play and has even re-play value, combined with charismatic characters, good music, really hot CG and hours of adictive gameplay.

Still, everygame game has is faults, there is actions on this game that don't have a proper reward for the time and resourses you invest on those, like bulliyg Akechi Mitsuhide or Maeda becoming a Kabuki actor, is not worth the time and resourses on that. There are princess, the once reach the love status, don't get a new CG, like Akihime or Nekohime. Character of other Rance games, take a step back on this one, so new characters take the spotlight, still is nice to have Rizna , kanami or Shizuka on board, but they don't do much on the game. Some good items alocate in different dungeons by RNG, making then really hard to find.

Also, this game is about conquest and rape, some princess get not word or can't avoid been raped by the protagonist Rance, even if those princess interest align with Rance, or recruited on his army. At the same time, Rance masculinity can't be dought, so this game is straight as Rance, just heterosexual sex, and in Rance terms, Only two girl take the active role once (Leia and Suzume) and few actually like it (Kenshin or Mori Teru).

Still, a master piece by any standart. totally recommend to play.
