Here is the same scene before the rework.
Notice how it looks exactly the same as your after screencap.
This is because the rework was to change their old clumsy pseudo animation (2 to 5 FPS series of stillshots) into an actual proper animation running at 60 FPS. That is it.
The new animation is vastly smoother which makes it look better simply due to the increase in FPS.
It is objectively better to have more FPS on the exact same art, claiming it to be a downgrade or side-grade is ridiculous.
