Maybe I already wrote it, but the same stuff happened with some older games(compared to this one) I know like HTH2. They kept re-doing the game over and over and lately of course many stopped supporting them, or everyone lost interest in the project. Crowchild was also a scam lolThe reason why I think it's the beginning of the end for this game, unless they drastically change course after this update, isn't necessarily because this update killed the game by itself. It's just a bad path to go down. They took 3 months to release an update which not only didn't contain any new content, but made some of the current content worse to a lot of players. Even if they didn't make some content worse, which they definitely did, they still would've used 3 months to do nothing.
I also don't think new Ms White necessarily looks bad on her own, it just doesn't fit the art style of many of the other characters (although I still think she looks worse than she did before). That shows that the style is going to start fragmenting, which means a lot of things will have to be re-done, and a lot of it won't be objective improvements. If they keep doing updates like this, they'll spend years changing things around without making anything strictly better. That sounds like a dead game to me.
On one hand the new animations aren't bad at all, but on the other hand to be honest I barely remember what's the main story, or the point of the game. It's maybe 2(?) years old and there's only a little step forward regards it. I'm not a patreon, so I can't criticize that much as pirate, but for example as excuse for the delay they're releasing a further(how many so far??) character. Is that really necessary? Why not focusing on the story instead? Honestly it's a bad sign and I think at this rate the game will lose itself in further releases with mixed art-styles no one can follow, no story upgrades and with everything planned on the base of highest tiers patreons' wishes. They pay, so they've surely more benefits, but low-levels or anyone supporting them out of patreon deserve also to be heard.
I hope to be completely wrong, but I think many are pondering about the same issues and mistakes other devs have as well made. For example well known devs like NTL have improved quantity over quality and that's why their actual game feels quite meh (personal opinion).
Moreover I think a huge mistake was the promise of releasing updates every month, or so, same thing stated when they reached their highest goal on patreon. If they cannot keep it, then it'll be better to correct the shot before it gets too late.
Time will tell, so we just need to wait and see how it'll evolve.
