The above solution did not work for me so I asked ChatGPT (thank God for AI). It works now.
The “file is damaged and can’t be opened” message on macOS usually isn’t actually about file corruption—it’s most often macOS’s Gatekeeper blocking the app because it’s not signed by an identified developer. The command you used (chmod +x ...) is helpful for setting executable permissions, but it doesn’t resolve macOS’s security check.
Here’s a more complete approach that usually works:
⸻
✅ Step-by-step Fix for “App is Damaged” on macOS
Option 1: Use xattr to remove quarantine
1. Open Terminal.
2. Navigate to the folder containing the app by typing:cd ~/Downloads/SextingmyGF_Ch.3-v1.0-alpha-1_macOS
Adjust the path if it’s elsewhere.
3. Run the following command:xattr -rd com.apple.quarantine SextingMyGF.app
This removes the “quarantine” attribute that macOS applies when downloading apps from the internet.
4. Now try opening the app again.
Actually this is brilliant, even if it didn't work. I just had quite a long and interesting chatgpt, nonetheless all the info/instructions gave me something useful. Actually, the os is not saying “App is Damaged”, but "You can’t open the application “SextingmyGF” because this application is not supported on this Mac."
I tried launching it and this is the message i get from the console: LAUNCH:Application cannot be launched because its unsupported bit is set, com.UnzippedGames.SextingMyGF node=<private> status=-10661
