Hey AbyssGames,
First let me say that I love the game so far! Excited to see what you have cooking for the next chapter!

Now I noticed that you and a few other devs seem to be in close communication, is there a discord or something for aspiring devs? I'm working on a game of my own (very early stages) and would love to get involved!

Looks like the dev made another post

Hi guys,

I hope you had a fantastic weekend so far. These past couple of days, I was barely able to catch any sleep. I've been working day & night to finish this update in time, but to be completely transparant with you all, there is a possibility I might have to delay the update by a couple of days to finish up everything. I posted a changelog here with where I am currently at. It wouldn't surprise me if I surpass the 500 render count as I still have to implement two scenes. They're taking shape and as I mentioned in my previous post, I took some days off work to really focus up and finish this update.

This is by far the biggest update I've ever done and I definitely will not be making another update THIS big as my actual job is suffering from it. I've learned a lot of new techniques and methods while working on this chapter and even from a visual storytelling perspective, I've gotten much better. I hope you guys will love the progress I've made from a game development perspective, but also... this update is PACKED with content.

I obviously don't want to delay the update... even if it's by a few days, so I'll be focusing on the update for the next couple of days... the next post will be on Wednesday. Wish me luck!

God dammit AbyssGames will you slow down and take a breath. I love the game, but I hope you set up some time for yourself as well. Posts like these have me worried you are burning the candle at both ends. It makes me worried that the project will burn you out. Don't get me wrong CH4 sounds Amazing. Good luck

That's my secret... I'm always burnt out... but for real, I'm really enjoying this. It's a lot of work and it's taking up every bit of my personal time, but I also underestimated how big this Chapter was going to be. I've had some comments of people being worried I'm spreading things to thin or that I'm putting so much stuff in the game that it'll feel watered down... and well that is a valid concern. My goal with this update was not to increase the amount of scenes, but rather expand the scenes I'm putting in. For example, in chapter 3, we had the gym scene with around 40-45 images, so now I would make a gym scene like 90-100 images. Make every scene feel more pollished and fleshed out. I don't want people to get to a scene and it to be over in a minute, I want you guys to really enjoy the scene as I set it up.

AbyssGames planning, planning, planning!
It's your first project so it's ok but without a more professional approach you won't go very far! I mean if your plan is a living from this kind of work...
Write down your characters, write down a skeleton of the whole story (with all important highlights) do some story boarding, cut out the chapters and keep it on rails following the plan.
Before the "real work" (aka writing the script and generating the pictures chapter after chapter) you must know how many images, how many lines, how many time it will take. For each chapters. And you must have an end date for the project.
If you can do that you will have a much longer career than most devs around...

Hey guys,
I'm unfortunately going to have to delay the update by a couple days due to the amount of work this last scene still needs. I really didn't want to do this, but I want to deliver a product I'm happy with and it still needs a little bit of extra time to cook. The update will be released this Saturday instead. I'm working my ass off to get it as good as I can possibly make it.

Trust me, it's worth the wait.

PS: Sorry for the blue balls.

Any complex project really. If you find yourself spending a lot of time reiterating and needing to go back then you would probably save time by pausing the work and optimizing the planning.

That's true. I do try to plan out as much as possible before I start working on a chapter, but I find it very difficult to determine how long or lengthy a chapter should be. I don't want to put a limit on my creativity by saying: This chapter should have 200 or 300 images. It all depends on the scene and what I find important that is portrayed to the user.
Either way, as development goes on, I learn newer and newer things. I hope to get my hands on a 5090 in the near future (Keep dreaming) to also speed up the image generation part as now I can't even have photoshop open together with Stable Diffusion... which limits to what I can do from a multi-tasking perspective.

Either way, this update is my best work so far and I really stepped up I feel like and I hope it'll show.
