This is a great chapter, I wonder what role Luke's stepmother will play in this story and, accordingly, who his father was. I'm looking forward to the next update. The dynamics of the relationship between the main character and his girlfriend pleases, Luke begins to change for the better. Although he's still afraid to sneeze again without permission. And also, in my opinion, he is too biased against Kate. But things are changing, and that's a good thing.

It's a stylistic choice, but AFAIK most 2D games have outlines around their characters

Well yeah, but most of the time, even with the best background removal tools, there's still traces left that you have to photoshop out (If you want a clean result, which I do BTW).
Even after seeing the scene once, I replayed the Liam-Alice-Sophie-MC foursome scene. It's really, really an epic scene from start to finish.
