The new patch is here, and so I have arrived!
Many people have been asking for links to an already patched version of the game, the reason I haven't provided it in the past is I kept running into issues where it would just break once I re-downloaded it to test and sometimes just unpacking it seemed to break it, not sure if I was doing something wrong, or something changed, but it SEEMS to be totally fine now, so:

Patched game with DLC + Standalone Raw File Downloads: Mega
and if you need it
Translation Patch: Mega

This new patch, according to the translators, translates all content currently in the game.
If you find something untranslated I highly recommend bringing it up either in the ULMF thread dedicated to the translation, or their discord server, which can be found in said thread.
Please let me know if somethings up with the file provided in the link, I've recently been having Internet issues but hopefully it shouldn't have compromised the file.
So this should work right out of the ZIP file, or does it need patching? When I launch the game it's in Japanese, and the latest patcher I see is for 2.07

Are you downloading SHRIFTII-v2.56-T1.6+DLC.zip? Anything in "Standalone Files" is functionally untouched from its original download, it also sounds life you're going into the legacy patches file for the translation link

It's crazy that you need to go to the end in order to actually download the game.
Assumng youre talking about having to go to page 95 of the thread to find an actual up to date download, I agree. Honestly I've been pretty tempted to make a new post for this game as the stuff in the main post have been out of date for a while. Might actually start putting that idea into action. Need to learn how to do all the "fancy stuff" these posts usually have though.

Hey, I’m a bit curious how the patched game was actually zipped? With all past ones and for many other games I’ve had, and continue to have, no issues, but this latest one reliably gives me encoding errors and spits out garbled characters instead of Japanese text for many files no matter how I alter the filename encoding or localisation, so the game doesn’t actually play correctly (the game launches and plays, but character models and scenes aren’t visible), no matter what program I use to unpack it.

is the game still tweaking? my last attempts at playing were met with a lack of player character. i know there is a way to fix it but even after following instructions i am just not able to do so.

I turned the file into a .zip using 7zip, I unzipped the file I originally uploaded to the mega that was on my pc, and redownloaded the one on the mega, both unzipped perfectly fine and worked without a hitch. Just to be sure, you have a Japanese System Locale/otherwise extract the file in such a way as to keep it's Japanese text intact, AND you are downloading the "Shrift II-v2.56-T1.6+DLC.zip" standalone, not the whole link as a zip, and not the file itself as a zip?
Meaning NOT HITTING either of these buttons when downloading the file

Once again, you DO NOT want to download the file this way. I believe there was a problem in the past where someone downloaded it like this and the double zipping messed something up.
If you didn't do something like this, a locale issue resulting in the text not being Japanese text is the only thing I can think of.

No to both, I'm doing a 'standard download' of only the "SHRIFTII-v2.56-T1.6+DLC.zip" file. I'm disinclined to believe it's a system locale issue, mine has been set to JP for a long time, and I'm experiencing this issue only with this single file. I've even gone back and triple checked, and no other zip or rar file with Japanese text has this problem, including older files for this game. The standard zip program I usually use at first, PeaZip, even allows you to change its localisation and encoding format on the fly, and setting either to JP, or altering the encoding to Shift-JIS just in case 7zip automatically encoded it that way because of Japanese text or something, and no change. For what it's worth, I'm on Linux and not Windows, but that really shouldn't be affecting this in any way that I'm aware of, and never has with anything else in the past, or even with other files right now. It seems most other people here aren't experiencing this issue, so unless something weird is going on with the zip encoding (it is just encoded as UTF-8, right? I believe 7zip and most other programs use that by default) then I'm not sure what the actual problem could be, haha.

EDIT: I figured it out. This is almost certainly just something the original Japanese dev did, but the .zip file isn't actually encoded as the same 'typical' Shift-JIS format as usual for most JP zip files, it's encoded as SHIFTJISX0213, a slightly different way of encoding it that apparently isn't detected properly on some systems. I actually figured this out by just opening up one of the extracted test files in Notepad++ and altering the encoding format until the text was identical to original, then just unzipping using the unzip command in the terminal using variants of that until it had valid encoding and the filenames weren't garbled. Anyone else encountering this issue on Linux should be able to resolve it by unzipping the file by running the terminal in the folder containing the zip, with the command "unzip -O SHIFTJISX0213 SHRIFTⅡ-v2.56-T1.6+DLC.zip", without the quotation marks. I have no idea why GUI programs on Linux don't seem to detect or support that format, but there you have it. I haven't really thoroughly playtested to make sure it's all working, but the obvious issues of invalid filenames and invisible characters & scenes aren't present anymore, so it "looks fine" to me.

I don't remember when it happen but now all my text boxes take up the whole screen and my choice boxes sit outside of my existing screen. I can still select and move using arrow keys and z/spacebar but not being able to see them is annoying me. Already tried restarting app and reloading save.

Really liked the gameplay and atmosphere of the first one, hoping this one lives up to it when I play it despite the art seemingly not improving much.

My saves seemingly ended up randomly breaking. I was messing around in the Hecate DLC before continuing onto the abandoned school to do the lizard quest not too far into the game when I realized I was no longer autosaving and I couldn't save my game, so I refreshed it and then I couldn't load into them. I restarted my PC and then the saves were no longer shown in-game despite still being in the folder. I tried redoing the tutorial to see if anything would change and it just placed me back at the start of Chapter 0 where the autosave started working again. I still have the same globally tracked stats like level and bond and affection and such, why are my saves just gone now?
