you go on the main post of this thread, there is something called tips and tricks of shrift II, it opens a google doc and inside there is a section " game freezes at the tutorial area " or something like that, in the frequently asked questions
The link to the patch looks to be the one directly from the translator, and I kinda don't believe that. Others here have already been using it, and there is no mention om ULMF either. A false positive, probably.

It probably is, unpacked the latest patch when it dropped but when I went to delete it today windows defender had a stroke with it as it contained a ''virus'', which was bs and more than likely just detecting the translation software.

Just an update on this: When you reach Chapter 3, the quest marker will fix itself. It is Nina who will give the quest to you.
Edit: Also, how far has the translation got? I'm starting to see more Hiragana, Katakana and Kanji as I reached Chapter 3.

Did you set your system locale to Japanese before extracting the game? If not, you may find that a lot of the files have gibberish names, preventing the game from properly reading them
