I have the same issue, strange nobody else has it.

HA HA HA HA! i finally found a fix! Follow these steps and see if it also fixes the issue for you guys:

- turn off your local firewall

- download a fresh install outlined in this post:

prepatched 2.86 version
Mega

- open winrar, press ctrl + e

- select japanese locale, select the freshly downloaded zip-file and unpack wherever (also while firewall is disabled)

- open game, run and test whether item chest still provides a bug.

my guess is that certain firewalls might have quarantined certain files in the zip unpack.
