question, how do I watch the ending of the engagement ring?
At one point toward the end of the story you will be prompt to do something in the my room and when you beat the game you will get an event with the girl that you proposed to.

I am not sure if different route impact this since I did true mercy

Guys, does anyone know how to fix this? I had patched the game, and when I tried to start it, I just got the error "Failed to initialize DirectX Audio".

Few possibilities. 1. Update/reinstall your audio driver from Device Manager in case it's out of date. 2. Your antivirus is blocking it because it's still scanning it or putting it into quarantine

This game is very strange in many ways, and it's painfully obvious that it's trying to be an Undertale for adults. There are even several characters that are clearly, or at least subtly, similar to Undertale characters: Mother Bunny = Toriel, Hyakki = Sans, Nina = Mettaton, Shpinx = Papyrus? But despite all that, one small and subtle difference between the characters in Shrift and Undertale is that the latter, at least, DIDN'T TRY TO RAPE YOU TO DEATH. Sure, they still wanted to kill you, but at least they had reasons to do so (not to mention that several monsters in Undertale don't even attack you like the many NPCs you encounter). And there were several who didn't have bad intentions, like Papyrus, for example. At least the monsters in Undertale could show some very positive qualities, making you say, "Hey, this monster is trying to kill you, but it's kind of dumb and harmless. Maybe if I talk to it a little, I'll manage." But the ones in Shrift, on the other hand, are like, "Go to hell, I'd rather stick my penis in a mattress than be raped to death." Not to mention the cynicism and hypocrisy on the part of the demons (especially what Nina says about "you kill us out of discrimination"). Yes, it's that different. shrift with respect to undertale

Yeah, it's totally not like the creator himself has literally said that he was inspired by undertale and shin megami tensei.

I completely agree with this which makes me so mad that they don't show the genocide route the respect it deserves. In genocide your malice is put on complete display, destroying everything around you with no justification at all. Most monsters are basically harmless and are only trying to kill you to return to the surface since they've been trapped underground all their life. Their motivations are justifiable and invoke empathy in the player Shrift however is the opposite. Barghest is a wandering killing machine that kills without knowing even though they see other barghests killing their mates. Lampas ignores your desire to live in favor of lighting her stupid lamp. Mother Rabbit turns you into a rabbit even though she knows it'll eventually kill you. Liz and Haru eventually kill you when you have no money. Mukuro kills you for her own agenda. Echo brainwashes you to be obedient. Nina has no issue killing people for her show, while she is forced to do it due to her status as as a biological weapon she has no empathy whatsoever for those she kills . Arachne, titanaboa and Daji are just scum. The only ones deserving of respect are Sphinx, Lucy and Camazotlz due to them not killing kazuya and instead coexisting with him, though it's still wrong.

Throughout the route Kazuya is actually quite reasonable in his actions, he only kills the demons that pose an immediate threat to him or would pose a threat to any person who comes across them. He completely ignores sphinx and would spare the demons that don't impede him. He also only killed the fist human in self defense so Ninas point is stupid he was shooting bullets at Kazuya. Should he have just stood there and took them? He only goes the deep end to beat Titanaboa, any other option would of result in him being eaten by her. The ending is the worst of it all. a hard battle is to be expected, but an unwinnable one is straight up petty on the developers part, especially considering the circumstances of its development. Also Kazuya didn't even use the Old one's power in that fight. Why the hell couldn't he use obliterate, he just got sent off into an alternate reality for no reason it's a stupid cop out loss.

Boy, wait until you get to the EX chapters... That's where the peak BS is.

It's 2024. People are complaining about Shrift's genocide route on the f95 forums.

We keep having the same discussions on this forum every couple of months and there are very few things to be said about this that haven't been said already. All I will say is: you bought a game where you're meant to fuck the monsters. Honestly, what did you expect would happen when you chose to kill them?

Thanks, it was the antivirus. Btw, I just finished my first playthrough and got the true mercy ending. I only got a few things to say: fuck RNG, and shout out to the girls from chapters 1 and 2, I really liked them. (Screw Haru & Liz, trying to recruit them took so many tries for some reason). Also, is there a spoiler free way of explaining why people don't like the geno route?

P.S: I know she's evil but damn I love Daji.

The genocide route makes some people angry because the dialogue paints the player as a bad guy for killing demons. lots of the demons kill humans when they get peckish and it's explained as alright because otherwise what would they eat? but whe the protagonist kills them to save his life it's painted as evil and horrible. basically people don't like being told killing predacious demons is a bad thing, especially when they're playing as an underdog.

That I would get to kill them and complete the run without a cop out ending, I loved pacificist with a few complaints here and there, but it was fun. The main problem with genocide isn't even that Kazuya lost it's that the developer made him lose this way because he was mad that people liked the genocide route. That's the main thing that irks me I still like the game tho it's just an irritating ending

The eating part just hit me, they can also eat normal food from what we've seen with Haru and Liz. Yet they prefer to kill people instead while having THE ENTIRE UNIVERSE making up endless excuses and justifications for their actions.

Also, the issues people have with the genocide run gets even worse in EX4 making genocide players into irredeemable mooks for the true final boss. In fact, the Neutral C ending was an infinitely better geno ending than the actual one.

Well, she's known as a "femme fatale", and "ruiner of nations" for a reason. She's the Chinese equivalent of Tamamo no Mae.

Also, you've got the famous meme. "If evil, why hot?"
