There is no way to write a story that pleases everyone. Instead, you seem to have something original here. You have a story to tell that piqued my interest. So, please follow your instincts an tell it the way you see fit!
Some tags are not as "divisive" as certain people would like you to believe. There are vastly popular games on f95 that feature some or all of them. Divisive are only the activists who badmouth them.

I completely agree that it’s impossible to please everyone, and I’m committed to staying true to the vision I have for the game. At the same time, I want to make sure that players who engage with
Shroud feel like they have control over their experience, which is why I aim to keep optionality in mind for certain elements.
