I'm working for free, man. Donations are just support, I don't force anyone to pay, like this "game developer".i dont see you working for free. and yet you expect everyone else to.
I think that is an honorable thing to do, but his response to your earlier comment is I don't think that is nor should be the standard. That said when I posted on this game when it first dropped I don't think any amount of money is worth what is being produced here.
The only chief supporting statements I've read for this game thus far are that:
1. There is sufficient content to call this a game past the paywall.
2. It was just meant to be a name change from the previous game.
The answers to those statements while I think you can make the argument it is subjective and to the individuals preferences the more objective viewpoint is 1. no, the content behind the paywall isn't sufficient 2. this was posted and marketed as being a new game initially with the previous project canned so no it wasn't intended to be just a name change that is just what it has become due to a lack of effort on the dev's part. I won't make assumptions on why the lack of effort could be there genuinely is a good reason due to what they already put into the previously scrapped project, could be personal, or could even be they really don't give a crap about what they produce. Who knows? I do hope whatever it is they get back to caring and doing more. Either way both supporting statements at face value are bogus if not practically lies.
I will say though that until there is something tangible here even as a demo people shouldn't be jumping out of their chairs to invest especially not when you look at the historical facts on what they've previously produced. I would give someone like say Abelius far more credit for what they've produced with "Pizza Hot!" whom is also embroiled constantly in disputes for lack of delivery on it than anything that this has managed to achieve.
I remember when the first project for this dev hit I actually could maybe endorse it because it was like a far more coherent and seamless version of trap quest that felt like it had potential to be more content rich. Then they swapped over to this card game mechanic and put all their eggs into that basket (which by the way by comparison for mechanics they had previously is objectively worse) and slowly started to curtail content to the state it is today which is outright blocked. This is almost like a far worse version of Saria Reclaimed by Velminth (another dev whom is controversial).
I give these real tangible examples above because it really gives the context to my previous question in this thread: Why even post this here? People give those previous devs grief in absurd amounts and while some of it is justified to a degree they have so much more to show of themselves in their work than this does.
All this amounts to really it just being a real shameful piece of work to a community for this type of content that is already generally left bereft because it was already minority percentage let alone the fact that so many actual good projects for this type of content have been so easily abandoned (just look up the tags sissification and trap half of it is a graveyard). Something like say FemCity by Kiriowo that had all the promise in the world hasn't seen an update since March and a release since August of last year. This type of a release feels more like a slap in the face to a community that least of all deserves it. They deserve an actual game with actual good content being fleshed out for their specific genre not something that is taking advantage of them.
TL;DR should be first and foremost shame on the dev for producing this, but also shame on you (not the person I quoted for this post) for enabling and supporting this type of stuff to be posted. At minimum it is an insult for entertainment being driven to a primarily LGBTQ+ audience. I personally don't feel it is acceptable for what it is worth (probably not a lot) and I think if you look at the common sense of it all I don't know why anyone would/could justify it as acceptable. I don't really want this post to feel like all I am doing is just bashing, but I feel like it is near impossible to do anything else after you assess what is here (aka this shouldn't even really exist).
Now I will return back to my dark hole of lurk from wince I came. I only came here because someone reacted to my post and after reading what has came after for some comments I just thought to myself "really?". Cheers.
