They weren't that good, and they look like a really dated flash game now, because that's what they are. But most importantly for the dev, they are no longer open source. When the original SimBro was made, an artist who went by Corta had made their paperdoll system openly available. Around the same time as the original SimBro developer Marune went silent, Corta pulled those assets and publicly stated they were no longer for open source use. So using them would be limiting to the new Dev's vision, it would be unethical, and it could also potentially damage the project legally to use another artist's work without their permission.Damn, Simbro was probably the best game of the genre, it broke my heart to see it die.
Why change the graphisms tho ? The old ones were damn good
Oh I remember those days, good to see you're still around.Hence the word "resurrection" at the end of the game name...
Simbro was one of the first lewd games I've played and was the first I ever became a Patron of, many years ago it seams..
That game was part of the golden Dev days, where ppl were happy to donate a few bucks a month, $10 a month if you wanted the cheat codes, for small updates as long as they were consistent.
It got a lot of patrons, made a vast amount of money every month and had a team of Devs at some point.. however the quality and consistency of the updates dropped in tandem with the money it earned, meaning Devs became lazy.. at team members argued until there was only 1 left, as I recall it..
However many patrons waited a long time before they quit paying, after all it was just a few bucks a month, I was one of them.. but when my patience was gone I canceled ofc, at that time it fast went from $20K to $5k a month and stayed there for long, even as the project had died.
I even helped out a little with text corrections, pro-bono, so had a more direct contact with Marune, the creator, but that ended before I canceled my subscription.
I recall his response when I told him I had subbed for 10 months and by then payed him $100.
"Thanks, I'll drop them down a strippers thong!"
So clearly he didn't starve at that point
Am glad to see someone has chosen to make this game alive again, with a new platform, wishing them all the best
same hereIs it me or did the old art look better with the faces? Something feels off about the assistants face this time. Don't get me wrong it is a clear improvement overall but something just feels off to me.
Exactly!- yes... though much time was wasted
- no the art was clipped and animated paperdoll stuff (not very impressive but the art was always the same and not a mix of artists)... though that was already more than the standard offered back in the day... there were great 2D art not animated or simply morphed to look animated. (Brothel games in general used artwork from different artists and lookalike characters to create an illusion of varied sexacts for a certain Anime or Game Character... many still do actually)
- the game was abondened in a buggy state with many Story strings loose and tangeld up in none reasonable way
Remaster I'd say... while it's strongly inspired by the original they intend to bring order into the story chaos which was likely caused by the original Dev trying to throw as much Characters into the game to make it more interesting without even bothering with reason, lore or technology questions... I mean the protal was pretty much something a crashed UFO brought to the world or something.they rebooted it or is this a remaster , am praying that it continues and becomes a full game.
There's a lot more to that, and I'm sure those who create compilations will always get the rights to do so. THere's also a company, that I know of (and amazingly can't remember their name atm lol) in New York, where an artist can submit their recording of any cover they choose, and that company will take care of all the legalities for them, and the artist can distribute their cover, without worries. The company basically contacts the PROs (Performing Rights Organizations: BMI, SESAC, ASCAP, etc) and makes sure any royalties are set up. If the cover starts to make money, the writers can be paid by the PROs.That would mean that the latest greatest hits in the hitparades are stolen work and the original artists would get rich... though that never happens.
There are still Options to make such a take over legally fine and I get a feelign the Dev made sure he wouldn't get into trouble over this project
The OG is literally Playshapes-based art in a game that originated on the LoK forums, and not it's even a decent example of it. You have to be wearing, I don't know, fucking rose-tinted augmented reality goggles. The assistant looks a lot worse than the original. Design wise I think a lot of the proportions are unsettling compared to the original Simbro.
I wish you guys luck
Hopefully, this time it doesn't end in abandonment, i like that if they accomplish more than the original that would be fantasticRemaster I'd say... while it's strongly inspired by the original they intend to bring order into the story chaos which was likely caused by the original Dev trying to throw as much Characters into the game to make it more interesting without even bothering with reason, lore or technology questions...
