Simgirls is a classic, sure, but in today's h-game market it's comparatively pretty mediocre. Modernizing art is one thing (although I'm not sure Honey Select counts as "modernized art"), but I guess I just don't really get what the point is of remaking the, let's be honest, pretty mediocre writing and bland characters, not to mention the insanely dated game mechanics. It may have been the pinnacle of the Newgrounds dating sim genre, but porn games have come along way since then. It's a hugely nostalgic relic, but I think it should probably stay that way.

oh crap..... SimGirls is a major pioneer of my journey into adulthood.... that alone and the nostalgia are reason enough for me to give it a try.

But I also hope a compressed version is being released soon since +6gb is pretty hefty
the generated robotic voices and the long intro scene with the awkward use of 3d is rather offputting and will be quite a factor as to why people wont be playing it

maybe i just dont know the potential of the engine well.. but from the previews, and how simgirl is supposed to be gameplay wise, i would think renpy would be a better then rpgm...
also good luck, part of what made simgirl great was that it was unique for NG.. its a bit stiffer competition today then back in 2002...

Off to an interesting start.
I'd say the movies are well done, and using Honey Select for the characters certainly makes things MUCH easier for the developer (character art, clothing, accessories, animations, etc.). So far the writing is OK. While I never played the original game the story-line catches your attention, and that's essential. Will the writing (and in-game event) be able to keep it?
The real question is how much grind will there be? Obviously some is essential (you're "training" the girls after all) but if over-done it can turn a good game into a nightmare 99% of people will just give up on.

I wish the dev good luck and hope to see the game develop into not "just" a remake but an improvement on the original.

Please report any missed tags.

This game is more like a movie......
I don't think any Simgirls title, can call itself a Simgirls title, without an 'EXHIBITIONISM' tag! :)

The thing that kept luring me back to this game over the years - for any update, no matter how small, or even just for the fun of rewatching classic scenes of Tomoko getting stripped naked in public, which (let's face it) never gets old! - was its tendency to deliver some of the juciest exhibitionist scenes going, at a time when exhibitionism was a tag found only all too few and far between in adult games.

Not sure if SimMan chose the right graphics engine though, I think he could have produced a Tomoko looking much more like her anime original (and the one in his own art!) had he made the game on HoneySelect instead. That said, the models in this latest remake look quite hot, I guess but it would be nice if they did a little more, in the visual department, to remind us of our beloved characters from DNA2.

Day 17 and already clocking 7GB, this developer is on par with AAA game studio in terms of sheer game size.

Apart from the great model and animates, the game is kind of boring that not much to play unlike the original simgirl.
It is more like a remake of DNA2 rather than simgirl, I think it will be better to change into VN form and we play as Junta to go through the story if simman want to create a DNA2 like story.

You know, I was going to come on here and say that I can't not play it, even if it is a Honey Select game (personally not a fan of HS modeling) but you make some very valid points here.

The game was good for its time, and while I enjoyed playing it, it should definitely live in the past as a good memory. I feel the same way about certain movies I view as classics, Jumanji as an example, that should get a bluray release as a commemorative token as opposed to a full-on remake (or just not touched at all), so I can definitely respect what you are saying, and feel I can move on from this thread satisfied.. thank you for changing my mind! :D

Going to be honest here, how many people even saw DNA2 let alone remember anything at all about it? I played the original Simgirls back in the day, and I'm not sure this was something that needed to be brought back from the dead.
