Mei is good: the more girls in the bed - the warmer to sleep =) Mei is good!
Bravo. Agree. Clever games used all that different character to make drama in game. If you have no drama, you have only a porn game. Clevers characters are different too, not off shelf characters. Trope? Of course. In adult games all characters are some sort of trope. You will find that trope in all other characters in all other games (especially good ones). If anybody would kick trope character out, there would be no game. While I do like Mei, I will agree that her character is mainly created from the trope mentioned, and she does (at least until now, maybe she will come up with her own stuff not orchestrated by parents/Frank/Becky later in the story, even if that is being a sub herself if in a different way) not have a real opinion of her own.
However, tropes exist for a reason - because people like them. That does not mean that considering the character flat is wrong, but there are several tropes with the other characters as well. Especially Abby and Lilly are also pretty bog standard I characters, only usually those archetypes are the older (Lilly) and younger (Abby) "roommates" instead of daughters. The bitchy one and the adoring one.
The question is not so much "is her arc a trope" but "is there a twist and if so, do I like the twist" - and sometimes even "do I like it even without the twist". And while I clearly recognize what Mmushy describes and agree that she does in the current setup not grow out of being an obedient yes-girl but only switches the yessed people, I think it is not as overused in games on here (at least the ones I played, there are thousands and I only know a small subset) to not enjoy it from time to time.
and I think that Meiko should be allowed to be a nobody until a certain point. my rationale is she is a sub, she lives in a home cage under parental supervision. she is over 20 years old but she has not seen the world. did not have the opportunity to build her character consisting of opinions on various subjects. Meiko should be allowed to gain experience. over time, the "pot of opinions" will cook a new Mei, it will be very appropriate closer to the middle, when the "family" will be under siege and it will seem that there is no way out and it's time to throw out the white flag. and then Mei (not the old empty Meiko) will be able to say her weighty word and allow the scales of fate to be tipped in the direction of the "family". but for the time being - no need to force Meiko to be someone. let him study, let him absorb other people's opinions, let him put other people's opinions in his piggy bank in order to gain a "critical mass" for moving forward. agree that if less gasoline is placed in the engine cylinder than necessary, ignition of the air-gasoline mixture may not occur. equally, an over-enriched mixture may not flare up (the spark plug will be "flooded") and as soon as it seems that everything is not just bad, but very bad, then it will be possible to get Mei out of the spare box and put her into battle. a new piece on the chessboard will certainly turn the tide of the war. There was a vote on patreon about Meikos role in this game. Side character or on the same terms with Becca, Abby and Lilith. "Only" about 80% of the votes were to upgrade Mei to be equal with others. I guess you didn't vote. Or you a minority in this election. Or you didn't vote. Everybody has a right to their opinion, as long the conversation stays civilized. I like Maiko too. I'm happy to see what role Clever games has on mind for her.
Agree, Mei is in this point in time a blank piece of paper. Anything we know about here was already said. We know from working with Frank that she is probably smart, good at chess and it wasn't a problem for her to think like a real estate agent.and I think that Meiko should be allowed to be a nobody until a certain point. my rationale is she is a sub, she lives in a home cage under parental supervision. she is over 20 years old but she has not seen the world. did not have the opportunity to build her character consisting of opinions on various subjects. especially since Mei, from the point of view of all the players interested in the collapse of the “family”, is nobody, a dark horse, outwardly simple and modest girl (who must be taught not to show her strong character right and left). and this dark horse may not be noticed, but it will be capable of action when other members of the "family" have their hands tied.
no, guys, who says that Mei is not needed - you are wrong.
May will be especially valuable if she is not a resident of the "family" but is a "visitor", having the opportunity to leave them or not be included at all (through an oversight) in the calculations of Shannon & Co.
Nothing new since the update at the beginning of the month, when the estimate was mid-February.any word on a update ?
I mean, you kinda have a vote, but its earlier, when you're in the store talking the family. And when you talk to Mei. (I have no idea what the consequences of that is, and I may be misremembering, but I though there were chances to at least dissuade things ...)I really like Mei, and I'm glad she was upgraded to a main girl. But because I hope Madison remains a side girl, I wish that the game gives some kind of choice in regards to this. When we were having that vote at the hotel, it just felt weird that I wasn't able to actually cast my own vote. The benefit of a visual novel is the ability to make choices. I know this would be a lot more work for the developers, but it would be interesting if they could make it so only a certain number of main girls are possible. So it can add some replay value by including different girls on additional playthroughs.
yes.Does Frank ever grow a spine, or does he keep letting Abby completely walk all over him? The whole thing with rules and punishments where she has total control no matter what he wants is really annoying, and just demonstrates that she doesn't care about his feelings at all.

Here's a few preview pics of what's coming in the next update. This update will cover most of Tuesday but will end before the night is over. (Don't worry, there is plenty of naughty stuff in 1.19)
I'm updating the progress report and moving the release of 1.19 to the end of February.
Last time I remade the side images I received some feedback that some people didn't like them. To be honest I wasn't a huge fan of them either, so I remade them all again and created a bunch of new ones for characters that needed them.
More work has been done on Abby's side story.
Work is still continuing on the new end credits video. (I need to make a ton of videos just to make this one video)
