VN - Ren'Py - Single Again [v1.25.02] [Clever name games]

This game started really good, i usually don't like the slow burn stuff, but it was ok. Well to a certain point, for some reason the history started going circles, something happen, its solved and the same stuff becomes a problem again and while talking to solve stuff, the dialogs repeat like 4 times the same explanation, its just loop.

About the girls
lilly is a very mixed feeling, shes kinda crazy and stuff, but you see it improving whit progression, but she just loops back and keeps cock blocking and sort of go into NTR you with abby with their lesbian stuff all the time, also for no reason the dev made her a whore.

Abby is the worst part, there's progression for like 10% of the game, them it became stale forever and that's it, forget her, the dev will milk her forever, probably will have 1 scene at the end of the game, in maybe 5 more years.

Becca was just too boring that i don't even care about her in the game, she goes planing the stuff, and for me that's it.

The graphics and models are good. The story line, which is sometimes emotional, is better than most VNs. Although that's a low bar. Some plot holes and the character narratives all sound alike.

I like the characters, I enjoy the interactions. But man theres just so many glaring issues with this that drive me nuts. I'm not finished the story yet but I think I'm far enough through thousands of dialogues that I can finally weigh in a bit and give a really fair critique. JK I was literally like one 10,000 word essay away from the end so I did finish this update.

Abby being the starter. Is this gonna happen or isnt it? I've been at this VN for several hours at times even just spam clicking the same boring, over-sold dialogue possible where the characters just repeat the exact events that just happened or go through this long winded conversation of saying essentially the same thing 18 different ways. If Abby is gonna happen with the "MC" why do we need the constant I mean its like at the point of writing where I'm beyond everyone being part of the group and together, united, yadayada. I'm just so tired of hearing about all these escapades, the constant pushover of a mc just letting stuff happen and even encouraging it in ways while its like bro, its your daughter and your still in the mindset mostly, why do you need to be so involved in this aspect of her life lol. It's like borderline NTR in a way.

Then we go onto Lily who had serious character progression but at times she just feels hollow and like an empty shell devoid of personality. Your recommended to play a side story of hers, which this time is literally NTRing yourself lol. You get to learn all Lily's dirty deeds and be a part of everyone using her like a fleshlight! Yeah nah, wasn't for me, stayed far away from that, but again just really really weird, Single Again started wholesome, but got progressively more depraved while still trying to retain this weird wholesome angle that just gets worse and worse as time goes on.

Becca, she's probably the only okay character, but again MC lacks a backbone in almost every situation, but for whatever reason pushes harder back on Becca than any other character which confuses me the most. Idk its just strange, I cant really say much on it. She's the oldest and the one that probably listens the most, and is the most respectful of the bunch outside her banter with Lily but the MC only takes a more dominant figure with her than anyone else when it comes to "meddling and breaking rules" meanwhile is just completely cool with everyone else doing w/e they want for the most part.

Rest of the cast I dont have much to say they're just kinda there and doing their thing as far as I'm aware, not really doing anything that is worthwhile of mentioning other than the dialogue with Meiko being extremely drawn out and borderline snoozefest because MC just repeats himself 35 times every single conversation they have and beats a dead horse harder than a loose hooker on a free friday night special. Seriously its painful at times lol.

I'm not really trying to slam the creator in any way, dont get me wrong but man this has to be one of the wordiest stories I ever played that just doesnt say or do anything as a whole lol, IDK if its just for the purpose of filler or what. The character models are great, the animations are nice, but the writing is just so painful and I mean that respectfully, just too much detail and description and beating home points that just dont need to be, its like artificial time waste at this point.


At this point I'm just like "is Abby ever gonna be part of this? Is she ever gonna break away from what she's doing? Can we stop pseudo-cucking the MC with his daughter?" It's just weird to me honestly lol. Idk wasnt a big fan. Theres alot of work into this i respect it, giving it a 3 (would be 2.5 if i could really) because at the end of the day everythign that matters is average, the only good stuff is the unique models and the animations at best.

As much as I wanted to enjoy this game, I just couldn't. Single Again is a prime example of what happens when you follow a tired formula without even trying to be unique. It's yet another addition to the pile of sloppy, boring, repetitive games on this website. It's one of those games that take you on the thrilling journey of waking up... taking a shower... eating breakfast... talking to the daughter... saying "what we did last night was wrong and can't happen again"... eating lunch... watching porn... going to a bar/club... It is so. Fucking. Boring. It's the exact same story we've read countless times before, as if you fed every low-effort AVN to an AI and used it to create a game with all the bad qualities of the daddy-daughter genre.

If you scroll down, you'll see a lot of people mentioning the protagonist and how insufferable he is. That's because of how much he overthinks and overreacts to every little thing that comes off as even slightly inappropriate. A casual remark at the bar can turn into an awkward conversation on the couch the next morning, just because Abby was a bit tipsy and talked about boobs once. The MC is just so fucking dramatic. Any father would be happy to hear his daughter call him "daddy" again after many years, but not this one. He needs to have a cringeworthy monologue in his head about how awkward it is. And the conversations, man... It's the most mundane, aimless and stiff dialogue ever written for a porn game. The "story" doesn't go anywhere and just keeps running in circles as the MC struggles with his conflicted feelings. The best way to describe the dialogue of this game is "constipated." This is the most constipated, awkward and self-conscious dialogue I've ever read in a porn game, and that's saying something.

I'm not saying that the game should ignore the taboo and jump right into full penetration impregnation freaky sex on the first five minutes. I'm saying that there are better ways to approach the father-daughter dynamic without boring your readers. The characters just don't feel human. They act and talk like machines, like when you're talking to a co-worker while your boss is in the same room. It's just unnatural and boring, the complete opposite of a game meant to arouse. If you want a realistic depiction of characters struggling with a taboo relationship, play Chasing Sunsets. You'll see what I mean.

The forced lesbian content is also detestable, especially considering that Abby and Lilith have been fucking each other for years, long before developing an interest in the MC. I don't mind forced lesbian content when it's relevant to the plot or serves to elevate their relationship with the MC, as is the case with Light of My Life. That's not the case here. When I found out that this is basically a parent story to a few other side games, it all made sense to me. This is one of those devs who like to write stories about wild young girls exploring each other and sleeping around. And instead of writing Abby's relationship with Lilith differently for the main game, they just went with it. Props for sticking to what they enjoy. I still don't like it, though.

And as if that wasn't enough, the MC is also disgustingly submissive. And that's not an opinion; the characters literally talk about it in the game. Being submissive is like his whole thing. The writing constantly reminds us that this isn't the MC's story. It's Abby, Lilith and Rebecca's story, just like how they are the protagonists of their own side games. The MC is a redundant cuck, a tool for bringing the girls together as they fuck each other behind his back while he jerks off to porn and has wet dreams about getting cheated on or seeing Abby and Lilith fucking. He even gives them his blessing to date and marry each other, almost like he's pushing for them to go steady. Regardless of the gender of the people involved, that's textbook cuck behavior. This piece of shit spends the entire game whining about how wrong it is to even look at his step-daughters, then proceeds to encourage the step-sisters to fuck each other. I don't even know what to say. It's unbelievable how badly written this game is.

As for the other aspects of the game, there's not much to say. The graphics are fine, and I really have no reason to bash anything other than the MC and the writing in general. One thing I could say is that the character models are very dated and unoriginal. They legit used one of the default Daz models for the MC, the one we usually see being used for that one asshole character in every other VN ever made. The unlikable characters completely ruin the experience, and the sexual content really isn't worth it. This isn't even a "slow burn" type of game. It's freezing cold, dry and dead.

This is way worse than it needs to be. The Dev can write well, but the way he portrays the MC is absolutely horrible. I understand the initial reluctance of the MC to start getting involved physically with his ex-step-daughters and his adopted but now adult daughter. (Adopted might be the wrong term here, she's not his though his name was put on the birth certificate.) But his whining never stops. He keeps doing stuff with them all the while acting and sounding like a scared teenage girl who's about to lose her virginity for the first time.

"We can't! We shouldn't! Oh no, I'll be ruined if anyone finds out!" Like seriously, man the eff up! This hesitant whining, and I don't think we should do this crap, all the while he's actually still doing stuff is a major flaw in what otherwise could've been a great game. It's actually quite pathetic. Someone needs to tell the Dev that since the MC is divorced from the two sister's mom, that he can legally eff them anytime they want and he can't get in any trouble from anyone. Same with his deceased wife's daughter. She's not related. He can date all of them publicly and no one can do a thing. The MC's paranoia is unwarranted and dumb as hell to keep hearing about.

If it wasn't for the MC, I'd have given this game 4.5/5 but I can't stand him anymore. I'm done with it. This definitely needs a rewrite. It'd be way better if the MC was written as being okay with being with them after his initial hesitation is overcome. If the cringe whining actually came to a stop it'd be worth suffering through. It doesn't. Instead the MC turns into a massive Arsehole by saying that 'we can't do it again' after having effed them once. So he's okay to do it but then afterwards tries to say we can't do it again! That's pretty effing low.

Edit* Another annoying thing is how he harps on and on about sleeping with Abby nude...They aren't nude! Does he NOT know what underwear is? Words and definitions matter. If they somehow progress to actually sleeping together in the nude, what's he goign to say then? That they're extra nude? Nude-nude? So dumb.

And to add to above before the edit. It's pretty low of the scumbag to blame Becca for his effing Lilly. He's the one who did it regardless of any manipulation. Again, what a whining loser who can't take responsibility for his own actions and desires. This game could've been great but not with the way the Dev has written the MC.

The story pulls you in, the sex scenes get a bit better the more you get into it.
Some of the characters can be overwhelming and there's definitely improvement to me made. The newest updates seem to be a bit rushed but still enjoyable.
Overall a great experience and a fun VN.

Great game (in concept), fulfills the family fantasy, has good writing and hot girls. I appreciate the references that could be ignored but enhance the metaphor, and the use of off-screen conversations is actually really clever. It's nice that we aren't 100% privy to everything being said between characters. I think that adds a lot of depth. The writer clearly has a strong grasp of perspective and a lot of good twists on the usual stereotypes. There is a lot of heart.

Average VN clickathon with the occasional choice. Besides the occasional Game Over, the choices seem more impactful than they probably are, but many are enough to calm the most annoying aspect of this game I'll get into in the story section.

It's spicy enough to keep you clicking. A good job has been done with the teasing poses that don't lead anywhere. While the early sex scenes seem pretty forced because the dev knows they are taking too long for payoffs, they are well made and there is good dialogue in them.

Boy is this MC annoying as hell. The writer has fallen victim to something so many writers of these games keep doing, which is being paranoid about their own fetish. There's a better balance to be had between suspending my disbelief and trying to justify every sexual decision a protagonist in a harem game makes.

I get it, resistance is realistic for an MC in the D&D scenario. It's admirable even. But there is a limit and this game like many overdoes it with the MC resisting our player's urges over and over ad nauseum until you wonder why it doesn't just go full realistic and have the entire premise be denied and the characters just live happily ever after never having sex with each other.

I wish writers of these would stop being so cowardly. Realize that realistically, these girls would NOT be sexually persuing the MC, and indulge a little. Should there be a good amount of anticipation and the breaking down of barriers in order to have narrative conflict? Absolutely. But having the MC resist so fervently at every turn and constantly berate himself internally, debate with everyone who wants his dick at all times, and basically try to leave the story being told at every turn? That's too fuckin' much and it does more to take me OUT of a story than keep me in it.

Realism is broken by the very premise of the game, I'm already buying in, don't make me yell at the screen for the character to accept affection the 5th time it's been thrown at him and not have a pity party about it for the 10 minutes before and after. It's really a turn off.

And I only ever get annoyed by this in games that are really good and push that potential to a breakpoint where my immersion is ruined by a complete disconnect from MC's sexual needs to my own. Teasing is great, and buildup is nice, but the pace has a limit and this game reaches it often when the MC can't shut the fuck up for 5 seconds about how wrong this all is. Feeling guilty about the taboo is appropriate, but don't push that guilt on the player for hours because eventually it stops being a fun tease and just becomes annoying.

Anyways, the game is great and I do want to play more. I just wish writers would relax and lean into what they and us clearly want. There is an attitude somewhere between "I'm an asshole who fucks anything that moves" and "omgomg this is so wrong I must have this internal conflict for a year before I allow my dick to be touched". Let the MC in on the fetish for a while. He doesn't need to be the ultimate hero and perfect father, that kind of person doesn't exist anyway. MC can indulge without suddenly being a perverted addict. Relax.

***EDIT*** I've played a whole lot more of the game and I sadly have to reduce my rating from 4 to a 2. It's so much worse the longer the Mc goes on. While there are so many moments that scream with the potential to have a great sexy VN, there are far more moments where I'm screaming at the screen for the MC to get his fucking head out of his ass. The breakpoint was taking Lilith into the hotel room. She jumps on the bed and asks to "play" and his denial response was so infuriating that I've finally quit playing and refuse to continue.

It really is heartbreaking, but even after accepting a sexual relationship with her, he continues to be a gaslighting piece of shit whose emotional manipulation and narcissism is so intense he's completely lost all capacity for being able to self-insert. This man is disgusting. If he just fucked the shit outta them every chance he got, he would be a better man than he is, which is saying he's down for a harem while fully denying the sexual needs of his partners. It's not even that I need the sexual content, my dick never left my pants during this teasefest, it's that he wants total control over the minds of his daughters and questions their every decision to rely on him. He is basically a fucking cult leader but the writer has deluded themself and us into thinking that he has their best interests at heart and is helping them as a father. He is not. He is giving them toys and then taking them away whenever he wants in order to control them emotionally. It's fucking gross and I'm done with it. At this point he cannot be redeemed. Poor Lilly...

I really appreciatee the dev's dedication to this game.
Pluses: The daughters, the writing, the emotion when the recalcitrant daughter comes to love the MC.
Minuses: The MC's passive-aggressive, hypocritical, whiny, selfish virtue-signalling assholiness. He's a dick, literally and figuratively. His daughters have been brainwashed into thinking he's the bee's knees, and we're lucky enough to get to imagine him as us. But what a maroon!
ALSO -- what's with this Mei character? IMO she is mega-unattractive, but we spend an inordinate amount of time getting horny-saint MC into her pants, for God knows why.
If it was just the 3 daughters, AND THERE WAS ANY CHANCE OF THE MAIN DAUGHTER HAVING ANY ACTION, I'd go for at least a 4. But holy moly, the dialogue is one recycling mess of will-he-won't-she, who-cares eventually. I quit after Mei became so integral, sensing that this was just another way to put off having any sex with the main daughter--again.

A fantastic erotic visual novel, and make no mistake this is a novel. There is a good bit of reading here and no one just falls into the MC's lap. if you are looking for a quick fap where there's sex from the word go, this isn't that novel. This is the story of a dad who really struggles with the fact that he is growing attracted to his daughters and that what it means for them, to be attracted to a man who should be their provider and protector. All the girls are wonderfully written and distinct. There are some minor animations and loops but not as much as some. I'm fine with that if it means the updates come more frequently and this game does receive regular updates. No music is unfortunate but not a deal breaker. I already can't wait for the next update. Give me more Becca!

It's a little hard to classify what kind of story this is. The narrative is mainly about an unconventional family, and how they love each other.

Along the way you meet some interesting people, and see how they all affect each other's lives. There will be some struggles, both internal and external conflict, and trying to figure out a new family dynamic. Within this story you'll see how love can come from unexpected places, how you should follow your heart, and how indulging your kinks can be fun, as long as it doesn't hurt anyone.

This visual novel has some of my favorite characters in it. Whether you're looking for smart and sassy, fiercely protective, sarcastic, quick-tempered, sexy yet insecure, naive and lovable, or shy and submissive, there's a whole range of personalities to be found in this portrayal. Certainly doesn't hurt that they're attractive either.

This is OK, it just triggers far too many of my pet peeves. The review Filipis wrote neatly summarizes my overall feelings. I don't particularly care about complex, branching story lines. They're SO much harder to write and keep meaningful. Additionally, the more branches and complexity, the more likely of you missing content because of branches introduced that you DON'T want to see. For example, I would have never wanted to see anything involving Lilly and Justin and the MC, but it is something that could have been added and as Filipis mentioned seeemed like it may have been going that way and then didn't. Complex branching also requires significant time on writing, coding and rendering time spent on content that is not the main story and not necessarily (but could be potentially something their audience would enjoy). Even these devs working specifically on what their paying customers decide they should work on (via patron's voting on Patreon polls) almost universally gets review bombed and a swarm of negative comments with every update by a displeased vocal minority. I'm fine with illusion of choice kinetic novels. I hate making branch saves and replaying crap to see all the content. God Bless Sancho and the other modders who assist in offering "MOD: ALL" options when devs want to pigeonhole me. I get it. I assume the issue lies with me, and it's my personal tastes that put me in the "wrong" here.

My biggest issue with this game is the MC has to be in his late 30's or early 40's but is written like a 12-year-old virgin who spent a lifetime eating lead paint chips and has brain damage because of it. The OVERWHELMING amount of repetitious inner monologue in this script is vomit-inducing. The same lines getting used over and over. Somehow, after just spending an entire afternoon discussing a subject with Becca (the eldest daughter) the next morning, the MC's plan for the day is to... visit Becca to discuss the SAME subject but with a side of new info from a dream from the previous night, to have the same explanations given by Becca as the previous afternoon and the same 12-year-old virgin response by the MC interspersed with COPIOUS amounts of ellipsis framed inner monologues repeating back summaries of what we just read and regurgitation of the forced virgin-like awkwardness (I get it, you REALLY want us to feel awkward here). It's frustrating, how almost all of their conversations are the same things being said over and over because the MC is written as too much of a moron to connect the obvious and well-indicated dots that Becca is pointing out. They could have written it as the MC understands what she is trying to do but is uncomfortable or has issues with his role in her end goal, but that is more difficult to write than turning your MC into Goofy and just having him say, "Gorsh! H'yuk!" all the time and act like an ignorant idiot. It throws me back to the bedtime end-of-day summaries from Dating My Daughter and Melody used to aggravate me, by reviewing, at length, stuff that just happend mere minutes ago like it's necessary to keep this mass amount of information organized and isn't just filler. In the case of this game, it's like a mother bird feeding her babies. This game just chews up the dialogue it wants me to believe or feel, then rams its beak down my throat and pukes it in over and over and over and over again. Even self-inserting into the MC's role, the awkwardness feels forced and absurdly heavy-handed in the context of Abigail and Rebecca. Lilly's arc is the most believable. One could argue with Abigail that the MC raised her as his own from birth, loved her as a daughter before she was even born - so the reluctance and awkwardness is a natural response - regardless of whatever truths and realities eventually reveal themselves. And to that, I say, "Woody Allen's wife."

This just gets worse and worse with the MC. I've lowered this to 2 stars from 3. The MC is just a piece of shit of a human being and not at all a believable character. If you fancy being a vacillating, gaslighting, immature ignoramus - then this game is for you. If there was any justice in this world, Darwinism would have spared Jessica and killed the MC.

Single Again [1.24.1] is a classic (faux) incest harem AVN where you take on the role of a 40 year-old widower and divorcee. You will be responsible for taking care of three "daughters"; one of which you adopted and other two which are step-daughters. No blood relations here, so those looking for the real deal (as ironic as that sounds) will be left starving.

The Good:

• Renders start out decent but improve as time goes on, along with animations that get more fluid. They are not ultra-realistic like some of the select few VNs on this site, but that is also a good thing. We all know how long those take for a single update.
• Fetish/Fantasy elements are taken to the maximum; the girls (all but one, but that will also happen eventually) are all slowly "corrupted" into jumping your bones on sight, and there is even talk of children for the pregnancy enjoyers - though that particular fetish is likely to be saved for endings only.

The Bad:

• Story: the only relevant plot here is figuring out which "decision" to make so you get your preferred path. There is nothing happening to make that difficult to do, there is no one trying to stop you from achieving your dreams. Feels like a simple dating simulator since the stakes are non-existent; And when there are no stakes, the story here can end at anytime and you could get a reasonably satisfying epilogue. Maybe this isn't a VN you play for the story, but I think it worth mentioning for those looking for a bit more... spice.
  • Also: beware of wrong decisions at the start of the game, as there are definitive game overs in the beginning. Luckily the dev realized this was wrong (at least I hope they did) as it doesn't seem like you could fail past a certain point.

The Ugly:

• Bad at being a VN: There are plenty of choices early on that don't translate to anything meaningful in the long run. Like others have mentioned, a decent portion of given possible answers to pick from are window dressings, no consequences either way you go. I am not asking for a lot here, am I? That dialogue choices in a VN result in actual branching? But I guess that would mean this game would in turn be boring as hell, given how much "empty" dialogue there is, especially if we took away all the fake choices as well. Seriously, you will get bored & frustrated at some points, be prepared for slogging through a lot of banter.

Verdict: This VN is filled with enjoyable "incest" content, harem building and pregnancy talk, but as the ol' saying goes: it's ocean wide, but puddle deep. Plenty of stuff to get your rocks off, but not memorable in any way outiside of that. Is that good? I'd say no, as each VN should be a memorable experience, but there is not a single element of this game that stands out above the rest.

I had fun discovering the girls around the MC. On the other hand, certain aspects of the MC put me off. The incessant questions and hesitations, the no fun side... Apart from his attributes he doesn't have much appeal. Worse, when he "teaches" sex stuff without going all the way, it's not really convincing... Anyway, I love Becca and Aby, as well as Beth. The whole thing lacks really interesting dialogue, and the MC repeats himself over and over while being reassured by Becca (very patient...).
Over than that, good job on the girls, a bunch of variety (size, breasts, etc...).

Firstly, I am biased about this one:

The game started off as gold, it was so good that despite the intro/plot setup being based on NTR (neither original nor something I usually support). Despite that, I was happy to give Patreon support to the game, which continued until the Lillith NTR Chapter, which, despite not being included in the main game, (it downloaded as a separate executable to avoid the NTR tag) is Canon to the story.

At the time I felt that taking an extra step on not putting a chapter in the main game was misleading at best, and more likely dishonest. So I stopped support for the game but still played updates occasionally.

So my bias, support to - not support of the game aside;

The writing is very well done, but I don't enjoy the direction it is going. The story, while well written from a grammatical and syntax viewpoint, tends to have leaps in logic, brushing over some seemingly very relevant points, while often focusing heavily on the irrelevant points.

The MC's hang-ups which made some sense in the first parts of the story, are well past the point where they should be a focus. Additionally, the interaction with most of the girls gives the illusion of choice at best, and even then not very well.

The game gives choices about random minor things, like what to cook for breakfast. But gives zero player agency on subjects like Harem members having sexual relations with people outside of the harem.

This lack of ability to meaningfully direct the story builds frustration as the game proceeds. The MC makes choices that the player may not agree with regarding sexual preference, acceptance, and sharing of partners. This lack of agency for decisions is made all the worse by the game focusing on these elements and the MC's encouragement of them. All the while the player is being asked "Do you want meaningless A, or meaningless B".

To give an example that is NOT in the game;

Would you like to drink a red wine or a white wine while you watch TV in the living room, as your girlfriend has sex with someone else in your bedroom?

I truly enjoyed this game in the past and avoided giving a review in the hopes that the direction would return to something that I enjoy more, both from a technical standpoint and content-wise. Sadly, this latest update is likely the final straw for me, the negatives have reached the point where I don't care enough to follow the game or hold out any hope that it will get better.

Ultimately, it's just proven to be a waste of time, and in my case, money.

Interesting story, nice looking characters, annoying as F*CK Main Character! I honestly was enjoying the story, but the MC drove me nuts! I just couldn't finish the latest update because I knew it wouldn't end, and from the comments I've read, it hasn't. If anything, other things started coming into play that made it worse. If what I read is true, I'm glad I let this one go. My only advice to new readers is, READ the comments! They will help you gage weather or not this AVN is for you.
