Yeah, I tried same things as you with same results. So i play my game with 720x360 resolution in fullscreen, because 1440x720 is too much for my laptop :p But if you want to resize game window to other resolutions, then you have to use IntegerScaler v2.18, but it needs Areo to be enabled in Windows.

A quick update on my English re-translation patch:
I won't be releasing anything today, because I only had enough time to reach the end of prologue.

My translations on many terms are very different from the official translations, the most notable one being "Tainted Child" - originally written as "忌み子" in Japanese, can be translated into "unwanted child", "forbidden child", "evil child" or "cursed child", all doesn't sound right to me. "Cursed child" may work, but that would make the term "忌み子の呪い" translates to "the curse of cursed child" which I really don't like. In the end, I decided to invent my own word for it.

I spent the weekend working on it, well... most of the time was wasted on debugging my toolchain, but I have them sorted out now. All the menus and most of the items have been translated, if counting by strings translated, to my surprise, it's already 19.5% done (259/1328). I should be able to release something by the next weekend.

Sinisistar 1 got to version 3.0 before the dev moved on. Sinisistar 2 has been more profitable than the original when accounting for its higher pricing and shorter time on the market, and the dev already confirmed "further development". We're getting a DLC, and quite possibly more than one.

Nice, looking forward to your translation.
By the way, is the font change part of the mod or is it something separated? I hope it's optional, I personnaly prefer the original font to be honest.
