this game went from being fun and a bit unique with its actual art to just hardcore souls like game, doesnt really become enjoyable at all when you wanna just play and unlock scenes not sweat your ass off trying to get through basic enemies
If you're sweating that hard and still dying often enough to rage, I think the problem might be on YOUR end.

literally horrid game combat, nothing about it screams fun.
what im saying is, for a bloody porn game you actually have to play it as a souls game, and this is such a half ass attempt at a souls game, the combat is not fun cause, the blocking and dodging barely works, you dont get iframes, cause they dont exist, so everything needs to be played perfectly with action, so yes you need to put effort into the game to get through it.

the first boss is poorly balanced, 2 taps you and has insane dash speeds with barely any warning, you get barely any time to react to any of their attacks and dont forget a massive AOE, it wouldnt be horrible if there was any form of more consistent dodging but no its a back dash that stuns you, a shield that barely works and such a fast draining stamina with a cooldown timer that doesnt fit the games pace

You do not have to play it like a souls game. You can literally beat every boss without DASHING. CONSISTENTLY.

The First boss telegraphs his dash so incredibly hard that you can casually meander away from him and he'll COMPLETELY whiff. He had no AOE to speak of.

Second Boss can be dodged in nearly the same way. Just walk one direction and hop up on the little platform. Rinse and repeat 3 times to win.

Mimic can ALSO be beaten without any tight dodging.

So the question here is...what the actual fuck are YOU doing? Slamming your face against every boss in an attempt to face tank em? Because I've not seen such well balanced enemy movement/ai in a game like this in YEARS.

Literally every complaint you listed has no basis in reality. The bosses telegraph the ever loving FUCK out of their attacks. I repeat. You can LITERALLY casually meander away from every boss and dodge them CONSISTENTLY. First boss has like a 4 second wind up before he does an attack. That's MORE than enough time to literally hold left or right and NOT get hit.

You're just trying to face tank everything, and it's painfully obvious.

i might need to just rethink and play it differently, but i think i should have said a large collision for the sword, instead of AOE, cause even when i jump, it tags me (that is when hes dashing towards you) i feel really delusional with my take here cause with what you are describing, guess ill retry see how i fare this time

If you explore the first area, you'll find a piece of armor with Warding 3 and Reflex on it.
The reason your experience probably doesn't transfer well to others is because you had warding 3 and reflex on some gear in the early game. The gear in this game is randomized as I never got anything level 3 until after unlocking the first shop purely by luck. Some people are playing this with beyond shitty gear because that's just how the game is. I'm not saying the bosses are impossible, they all have their cheese strats and I literally never use dash at all because I find it worth less than the effort it takes to remember it exists. I got a bow with Life steal 3 on it and took that to the end of the game without dying a single time after that because it was so strong. Still, other players are likely having a hard time cause all they have is some shitty underwear with like magnet 1 or thickness 1 and a weapon with no ability on it or something fighting enemies and bosses that kill in like 2 hits. They won't experience this game the way I did which was braindead easy because of my kobold bow. You have to admit that there is no wiggle room if you're already bad at this game to try and get better.

yeah, manage to beat him, just had to get into a rythm instead of brainlessly jumping, and yeah kinda had some shitty loot at first, only just got some good ones after defeating him, which made the experience a lot better, just not my cup of tea but id still try and beat it of cause, i like the art and get to improve, just currently getting a error code after defeating the mimic, done it twice now

I think the error code from the mimic comes from if you mash through the text too fast during the scene. The game has to like, think about the transition going on because its loading you into the game and things have changed and it needs to load you into a text box and if you're mashing I think you advanced the text box before it loads in or something. I took it slow and it didn't crash after that. Saved immediately afterwards.

weird, cause the first time i was like actively reading through the text, and it gave it to me, but third times the charm and finished it, same with the game, and honestly game became really easy after that still a bit rough at the start but nothing a small tweak could fix

That chest is guaranteed dude. And again, it changed nothing. I think Reflex kicking in a SINGLE time in that fight, and I had hearts left over at the end. The ENTIRE game had me between 2 and 3 shots from death. I ended up using a Whip and a giant hammer for most of the game.
The chest is guaranteed, the loot is not. I did a quick run on a new game to the first bed only to be rewarded with leather trash with luck 1 on it. You're not guaranteed to find a whip early on, you're not guaranteed to get early god tier gear in general. Reflex triggering a single fight can often be the reason some people can beat the first boss because they had one hit negated which gave them another chance to finish off the boss.

While you don't HAVE to admit the game is hard, it doesn't change the fact that it is. You severely overestimate the average player and it shows.

I no hit the boss without even DASHING dude. Reflex played NO part. At all. I don't have to admit it BECAUSE IT ISN'T TRUE. You're just crap at it. Either quit trying to face tank everything or quit playing. Pick one.
My dude, i beat the boss with a luck 1 magnet 2 sword and also no hit, I'm not claiming it's THAT hard, but you have to be thick in the head to say this game isn't hard by design. You're the one fuming in the thread that people are having a hard time lmao. You could stand to be a little more understanding of others instead of coming in like a bat out of hell and calling everyone bad when no shit, the average person isn't coming here for a metroidvania where you die in 2 hits to just about anything.

I just got through what's available, and thoroughly enjoyed it. Would have liked more, so I'm going to keep an eye out for more, hopefully the dev doesn't lose his mind and stop development, if what I'm hearing is true.

Also, It's probably just a "Me" thing but I had absolutely no trouble with the combat of the game. (Every 2D action game's forums seem full of people complaining about parts of the game being impossible, looking at you Fight'N Rage.) The back-dash is just so bad that it feels like a trap. It takes so much stamina that you can't use it to cancel out of a combo (and running out of stamina while dodging locks you in place, which is a death sentence), and you can't really use it to avoid an attack and START a combo either unless you want to run completely out of stamina. I ended up manually dodging every attack via jumping.

I beat Mimic twice and still can't progress. It plays a short cutscene where Naomi gets sucked in anyway, tries to pry it open and fails. I get defeat screen, but upon returning to the arena the Mimic is missing and there isn't anything new, nor any changes or new chests. I still can't dive into water. Restarting the game respawns the Mimic, but that's it

That's what is supposed to happen after you defeat the mimic, but you're supposed to also be rewarded with a trinket during the black screen at the end of the scene that allows you to dive. Personally I noticed it kept fucking up when I mashed through the text too fast after the h-scene played out. I think all you can do is take it slowly at the end to try and not overlap the text mashing too much with the screen transitions, and otherwise keep trying and hope one of the times works properly.
