the idea that "x" is a hobby is not very logical. takes work to make a mod as another type of work, it's literally software development at times, depending on the mod's complexity. sure people are allowed to do what they want like, get mods for free through other means, I do it too, law allows me.Modding is a hobby, not a money maker, it's weird to complain that a hobby is not getting paid enough (yes, he was complaining about the updated nexus policy). He made a bunch of free mods because he wanted to, not because he has to. Money in this field is a small bonus anyway, not everyone is lucky enough to earn so much that it can replace a regular job. And this mod isn't going to make him a steady income every month either. If he needs money, he can just get a job
If I'm not mistaken, Elianora was defending paid mods
but to say modders can't try to make it a career is nonsense, creating complex mods is as much of a job as working on your own software instead of for a company and try to make money of that, both are hard as hell to make profitable in any way but the rare cases that are able it accomplish it do well to do so, they are doing what they enjoy and making money off it.
the idea of "a real job" always irked me. working for other people and getting a paycheck is work. doing something yourself that makes you money is work.
