For those with an interest.

If you want to sound ancient Latin whilst pronouncing Veni Vidi Vici, you shall do it thusly...

"Weni, Widi, Wiki"

Because V's were actually pronounced either as a W or Ui sound, thus velite was welite, and C's were almost always pronounced with a hard K. Thus, Cicero was pronounced Kikero.

From what I understand, Gallic languages had a similar rule for their C's being pronounced as a hard K, hence Vercingetorix was probably pronounced as Verkingetorix, but it is also possible that It might have been Uerkingetorix, as the Gauls often wrote with either a Hellenic or Latin alphabet, though there are examples of Etruscan alphabet being used by Cisalpine gauls.
OK, I am going to argue that. V and U in Latin are interchengeable or so it is assumed for example "VNDE EST VERITAS?", Vnde is read as Unde, whereas Veritas is read with V. Also you'll find that Venus temple would be scribed as "VENVS" but it doesn't mean it's Uenus, or Venvs, it's Venus.

Veni, Vidi, Deus Vicit

Is there any way to change resolution? My god forsaken laptop has a very low end GPU, I don't know why it ended having 1080p res. as default that it's lagging too much for me.

You should note that I am largely referring to the spoken language, where V is quite literally spoken as a W or Ui and not as a Vee, in which the spelling would have been Veni Vidi Vici, but would have been pronounced as Weni Widi Wiki, because V's are spoken as W's (Or as Ui) and C's are spoken as K's.

From my understanding, much of the Latin alphabet has its origin with the Hellenic alphabet, with some Etruscan and Italic additions. Afaik, V being interchangable with U is similar in Hellenic Greek, and was carried into the Latin alphabet. Just because they had V's in their alphabet does not mean that they pronounced them the same way as we would today. Hell, in today's language many words that have C's in them actually sound more like K's when spoken.

So whilst you have do have a point with the alphabet, the spoken language is what I was referring to.

Hence Veni Vidi Vici would have been pronounced as Weni Widi Wiki when spoken by an ancient Roman. This is my point.

Order, citizens! ORDER!

It is on this holy day of Jupiter that the senate... has heard your cries! While some loyal citizens are cheering with joy, some, it seems, are worried about the future of the republic and the direction in which it is headed. To that we say: Let them raise their voices! Let them preach the streets! Rome true governors have always been.. the people. Some of you claimed they are thieves, who steal food and yet complain the prices of bread - to that we say - Nay! Do not judge them! Welcome them! For a hungry man... is a man we can not judge!

Silence! SILENCE in the senate! We have heard the plebs cries that the taxes are too high... that they are heavy on their purses. We take a man's property seriously. However - times are hard, brothers! Rome is at war! Our generals (the team) are fighting a mighty enemy! Those bugs (bugs) will be crushed by the mighty forces of our holy city, eventually, but our generals can not go hungry. For a hungry soldier.. is a soldier who can not fight.

But the senate is gracious. As stated time and time again - the gods are with us, brothers! If a man is poor, a prayer to the gods (e-mailing us) can bring great fortune (free game build) to the people! Many have prayed. Many have been answered. And the hungry.. are hungry no more.

Oh? What's that, the holy city of Rome is too small for some? To that we say YES. We have said so before: Rome will not be built in a day! (but a year). Our young republic is just 2 centuries (months of development) old. And look what we have accomplished, brothers! Imagine the might we can achieve together! The glory! Have no mistake... We are not the fragile Greek pussies.. We will work you hard. We will collect taxes from the rich, while helping the poor and we will! bring war!! upon our enemies!!!

Calm! Leave fear out of your heart, brothers. Rome will not be abandoned. It will not be forgotten, as many cities have been before. It will not yield. It will not bend. It will rise!!
Build brothers! Build with us, and gaze.. the rise of an empire!

For Honor and Glory of the Republic!
The Senate.

It's not that impressive, actually, I can barely form sentences in latin... what with all the different cases (Masculine, feminine) et cetera. I am reading De bello gallico aloud though, to further my knowledge of Latin.

For fucks sake. They're making a porn game for your pleasure. You like it, or you move the fuck on. All this hate for people doing something you won't or can't. Who cares what they're charging! I suspect most of you ain't exactly paying those patreon fee's. Sorry. A bit tired of the salt. There's a ton of games on here you might get into. At least they're not trying to make another VN or whatever you want to call it with the same old Big Brother models.

When in Rome... do as the Romans do! Or swift justice will land upon you with all it's might!
Desecrating the gods?? This is punishable by death! Or even worse... a street whipping and the life of a gladiator!

The gods are gratuitous today however. No whipping today. In their endless glory, they answer all kinds of payers.. 10, 15 denarius.. it's no concerns for Jupiter. But only for the righteous ones. Only.. for true sons of Rome!

For HONOR!
And Glory!

fact is..
we are not at rome. helloooo its f95 here !

let me say that i consider myself insulted by your comment. i asked you to use decent english that everybody can understand, including non english native peoples who have difficulties of understand proper english.
instead of that, you justcontinu to use roman style language that i ( and i m maybe not alone ) can barely understand.
so... i take free to report your comment. in obejectif to see you start posting in a more decent english.
its maybe your own game thread. but theyare a limit in the fact to make peoples understand what you mean.
you can, at least, post a "normal" english versio under spoiler after your original post.

insulted, yes, i feel insulted. thanks to please make things clear for everybody. including non english native like me.

This thread turned into a battlefield. :p
I must admit I agree with the comments above about the cost of the game, demo providing doesn't offer or promise anything that such demands justify in my opinion (but then again, I really don't like Patreon in general, prefer to buy game once, and if possible from GOG because of their policies (I know, they don't publish adult games)).
As for moment game offer good graphics & sound, but very limited interaction, and clicking "space" in sex scenes just takes all fun for me (I become an old fart, hate clicking games :D), but then again, it's very early build (I truly dislike how these days, everyone thinks it's fine to waste people's time with 0.1 versions and then don't like to hear harsh comments as consumers usually don't share the vision of developers).
And I understand resentment towards Latin, as this is the multinational English speaking forum, as most of the world's schools don't put emphasis on Latin anymore, but for me personally, it's always refreshing to hear (or in this case, read) it. Rome was arguably among most important world cultures of its time, and its influence is felt, though whole world, even today, and many principals that were true then still apply today, although not always in same magnitude, slavery for example, in some countries still exists in its true form, and in most other it evolved in wage slavery (whoever gives his labor for money sells himself and puts himself in the rank of slaves - Cicero).
O tempora o mores! It's most people's outlook on the world that changed, people are more idealistic as centuries passed, but if you call cat a fish, it doesn't mean she'll swim well.
Now I see how I did digress, but please forgive me, got home drunk & happy, and as drunks do, got caught in dispute.
