I've been dual-booting for a while to get around this. One drive is a windows 10 install purely for newer games and the main drive is a windows 7 install.

Actually no violence is also censored in Japan. I don't know what the standard is for still images, but they age rate violent video/video game content like western countries age rate sexual content. In fact companies often need to cut/tone down violence to ensure that it even gets released in Japan.
Also insufficient censoring of genitalia + realistically drawn genitalia = a contravention of their immorality laws and results in prison sentances and/or fines. So there's actually a lot of stuff Japan isn't okay with, everyone has just found ways to work around the laws. It's also why tentacle porn became a thing because tentacles aren't penises, and also why a lot of drawn porn/hentai from the 70-80's looks kind of scary because the person penetrating is shown as a dark silhouette.

I'm really into emo girls myself (or at least the aesthetic); it's not too hard to believe that there are gay dudes who like that stuff too. For anyone who's a fan of YAOI games I have a question:
Why there are so many YAOI games that central around Self-Harm + Gore ?
I find this combination quite frequently, and there are some of them very famous.
I don't play Hetero games so have no knowledge about them, but I find this combination also quite common in games made for Female audience.
Personally I'm OK with Goregasm, but when it's central around self-harm?

A lot of the really popular BL VN's with horror/gore elements were all made by the same studio, Nitro Chiral and games like Dramatical Murder, Sweet pool and Togainu no chi were really popular so I guess they just kept making them because money. There is definitely an argument to be made that the games are so violent because the estimated height of SA in Japan is pretty alarming and BL gives women a space where they can process that while having some distance by the bottom not being a woman themselves.
