VN - Ren'Py - Completed - Snow Daze: The Music of Winter [v1.6] [Outbreak Games]

normally not a fan of English voice actors but this one was really well done. covers a decent amount of fetishes. good game if you like submissive girl, oyakodon, or doggy girl. 10/10. I hope this game gets more content or we get another game like this one soon!

Sheesh. I don't even know what to say. I've never been a huge fan of 'hypno' themed games, so I did not go in with high expectations. Not to mention, the whole intro with the 'step' bit... (Surprised there's not a patch but that's irrelevant).

Though despite all that, this game blew me away. Phenomenally better than what I was expecting, and the voice acting is excellent too! The plot is good, and there are several 'endings' and I found it funny to see the different bad routes in the game. Art style is tasteful. Music is pleasant.

10/10. Seriously.

Summary:
The MC wants to fuck his "step" family with the help of a hypnosis machine he built, slowly changing their perspective around them to become more naughty and let him have more control over their lives. Ps: not sure if it's the most stupid or genius way to go over Patreon censorship, twin step sister… really?

Extraordinary aspects of the game:
The slow and fun corruption, didn’t see many games where they are doing it right as they did in this one.

What is good:
The character corruption the sexy scenes, the somewhat believable story, the build-up.

What is bad:
Some of the sexual images aren't of the best quality not sure if a different artist worked on them or whatnot, but it's quite annoying when the women’s shapes turn from thick to THICKKKK in some of them, breaks the illusion especially in the most important time.

What can be made better:
Fix those THICKKKK scenes.

My opinion:
The game shines in some areas especially if you like thick girls and into some questionable kinks as pet play or you know incest. The build-up is good and slow but worth it. Although there are some problems with the game, it still shines enough to make you want it more. One of the games you should play in my opinion if you are into incest and if you not just call them stepfamily *wink*.

the game has voice acting and nice art tho, also it kind of has animations which is nice (idk if you call 3 fps per second a animation or a powerpoint but its still nice) overall game is okay, not good not bad. the voice acting really carries the game since most games dont have that.

It's a good game. Due to the animation tag, I was expecting... you know, "animation". The best you see in this game is a slide show of 3 images slowly changing, from no pen, mid pen, and full pen during sex. 1 "animated" scene per girl (and there are quite a few non-animated scenes as well, with multiple images). I hate to rag on this because the game is good, it just didn't meet my expectation here and this would cause me to drop a star.

However, it did exceed my expectation in audio, specifically there is really good voice acting in this game. Seriously, the dialog is kinky AF and the voice actress(es?) read the lines like champs. All dialog from the 4 girl characters is voiced and voiced well. I haven't seen that in an H game before. Dialog in H games are so much kinkier than dialog in porn, right? Like you don't often hear a "breed me son, be my master and impregnate your sisters too!" in porn lmao, but it was voice acted and put in this game (not exactly, but you get the point). For this reason, I am giving the game the star back.

It was a unique experience due to the voice acting. The art and characters and story around the acting is ranging from "okay" to "amazing", but the voiced lines just really made this game something you don't see every day. Not a game I'd usually give 5 stars to, but I have to give credit where credit is due.

MUST READ: To get the harem ending, you have to watch all of the individual endings til the credits first (and, obviously make the correct choices so that you have the 4 endings available to chose from). So, save your game BEFORE the screen with the dialog choices (where the game tells you "Last Chance"), watch the 4 endings, and then you can watch the harem ending (it's good).

Very solid incest corruption game with alright ambient BGM and hilariously inconsistent voice acting. It's funny seeing that Kira and Jane have the same VA since can easily tell them apart because Jane's audio sounds like it was recorded in front of an industrial exhaust fan, lmao.

The art is fine albeit sometimes looking off. There's some drama regarding the devs remaking this game and overhauling the art which I do not give a fuck about so I will ignore that, just keep in mind this review is for version 1.6

Characters start off as fitting into an archetype until you learn there's really more to them than meets the eye. The writing made me feel so bad for everyone in the family that I decided to try a no-coom run where I just make the MC be a good brother to his family members so 10/10

Play it with mods on, tho, so you can see the point system, what choice leads to a bad end, etc.

Overall, some inadequate art in some scenes and inconsistent voice acting are the only knocks to not giving this game a shot (if you got a modded version or a walkthrough open in another tab just to avoid bad ends)

Incredible visuals and sound design held back by a more 'hardcore' choice of gameplay by giving a time limit and invisible 'objectively' correct and important choices for corruption.

It might be made to make multiple playthroughs diverse, but feels like forcing my hand (my other hand) and head (my other head) to make a lot of effort for hard to see long-term effects.

In short: amazing visuals and sounds, gameplay restricted by time limits, objectively bad (bad-end) and good (most corruption) choices.

Snow Daze does what it sets out to do well. You are getting an incestual corruption tale in which you slowly brainwash each family member into being your slave over the course of 5 days.

Characters
The characters are the main thing holding the game back from being exceptional in my eyes. None of them are badly written as such but all of them fit an archetype, you’ve got the domineering mother that really wants to be submissive, the girl with the puppy fetish, the butch girl with has an urge to be feminine, the repressed girl with an exhibitionist fetish etc.
The characters show that they have more depth than I anticipated in the final day but they always felt very predictable. All that said it was fun to watch their personalities change as they get more perverted and brainwashed over the course of the story. The protagonist isn’t annoying and has a personality too and that’s a real plus.

Sex stuff and artwork
The sex scenes all range from fun to hot, the character corruption was slow enough to feel real but fast enough to keep be interested. The artwork was generally good but won’t be everyone’s taste, some scenes stuck with me as memorable (e.g. Sarah’s final scene) while others have been forgotten. Another thing I really enjoyed was how each room in the house showed evidence of the character’s developing perversion (e.g. the butch girl’s sport photos become replaced with photos of nude models). Scenes have a nice length too, not too long or short.

Story
The overarching story isn’t really worth talking about, the game is exclusively focused on the characters.

Music/voice acting
The music and voice acting weren’t great honestly and I quickly turned them off playing my own music.

Conclusion
Overall Snow Daze is a fun porn story that is absolutely worth your time if you enjoy the fetishes on offer. I’ll buy it on steam when it's discounted (though I might hide it on my account lol).

If I were rating it on VNDB I’d give it a solid 7 or 7.5, not flawed enough to be a 6 or complex/emotionally engaging enough to be an 8. I’m giving it a 5/5 here because it ticks all the boxes and does what I wanted well.

A great game. The story and the loveable characters got me pinned to the screen, and the artwork was pretty good most of the time.

I'll definetely check out Cypress Zeta's other games if they are just somewhat like this game. Can't recommend it enough.

The artwork is good, reminiscent of Milftoon comics and the voice acting is great, the only time I fet it was lacking was when they reply to a trigger word. Each sister + the mom has a different personality and can be harder or easier to control depending on how close Jason is to them.

The porn is ok, could use more images for each scene but the current number isn't off from other porn games and the text description + voice over more than compensate for this

The story is surprisingly good (even if its just an exuse to get the family to bang), the voice acting is awesome and the gameplaye is good too.
I'm not really into the hipno stuff I still loved this one.

Enjoyable storyline, I thought the paths were a bit too punishing, I would advise playing with a guide and saving at the final choice (should be obvious).

The game doesn't overstay its welcome but all the girls have their own personality (even if the models are quite similar).

The game is unrealistically hot. I loved it. I especially liked the voices of the voice actors. They're even hotter than the characters themselves. I will certainly go through it again. This is really awesome.

Artwork
+Variety in character portraits - characters actually change clothes.
+/- Unique artstyle, though not everyone's cup of tea.
-Some scenes have oddly shaped parts (look at Jane's foot in CG), creases at the abdominal areas that doesn't make sense, weird body contortions, hips that ends up at the waist etc.
-Artwork is generally of sub-par quality, from lines that were erased in between scenes and then filled back (Kira's chin) to color that went outside the line (Jane's thigh). This is especially so towards the end of the game.
-Minimal background with just object outlines. Maybe it is a stylistic choice, but when the whole game is like that it gets dreary fast.

Literary
+Written in English with no errors.
+Simple writing and easy to read.

Music / Voice Acting
+/- Generic music, though serviceable.
+/- Voice acting varies in quality, some parts are great, others less so.

Story
+An exemplary implementation of the mind-control genre, as the control increases gradually and feels more natural.
+/-Linear story narrative with no branching options except at the end.
+/-The whole story is told entirely from the perspective of the main character, without exploration of the other character's mindset/thought process.
-Inconsistent plotlines:

• 'Musician' main character that never picked up an instrument, and is actually a genius inventor that created the mind-controlling device.
• Main character claims that Noelle searches his room every few days (hence he cannot have porn mags), yet is somehow able to procure items and outfits in later stages of the game.
• The whole deal with Noelle's ending.

-Very little in the way of story progression. Your mind control becomes stronger with every new day, and the family is none the wiser. With no challenges to overcome and no issues to work on, it is simply a question of "which scene will I unlock today?"
-Not much character development. The cast of characters barely interact with each other, and the main character does not show interest in any of the characters aside from sex.

Decision Points
+/-Wrong choices results in extra CGs. To unlock every CG be prepared to save and load often.
-Ambiguous choices. The decision points in a VN should communicate the intent behind the choices to the player, but here quite often you'll find choices that are similar in nature, resulting in a save-scum/brute-force kind of gameplay.
-True ending locked until you have gone through with every other endings. Since there is no NG+ anyway, I don't see the point behind the restriction. It just means loading a save file and picking a different option.

H-Scenes
+/-Scenes are relatively mild, and with the genre of mind-control it just feels like there are quite a few unexplored avenues. The main character can rewrite the very sense of logic of the subject, yet all he did was to make the subjects feel that it is natural to have sex with him.
-H-scenes are short, and does not take advantage of the fact that it is a VN. H-scenes consist mainly of moans, gasps and sexual dialogs, and rarely give exposition on the situation and setting.

Closing
Snow Daze is unfortunately riddled with unrealized potential. While it is by no means a terrible VN, it also feels lacking in quite a few aspects. It is relatively short and easy enough to read, so give it a go if you have exhausted other games in the genre, but otherwise I would suggest to go with other choices.

This game is the most mixed of bags. With it's flaws balancing out it's strengths. I'll alternate between flaws and srengths.

The big issue is maybe the most important thing, the sex scenes...

The sex scenes are quite short, lacking in description or inner monologue or even some dialogue besides generic porn lines they feel rushed. I really wish they would take their time more. with no descriptions, you're left with only the visuals...and the visuals are inconsistent at best, and straight badb in the final days.

Inconsistent style, mouths not coming into contact with dicks, terrible animation, and in the final days? straight up poorly drawn. It ends up with some of the more disappointing sex scenes in a game.

The biggest positive is, funny enough, the art style. The designs in this game are straight up god tier and elevate this game as a whole. The art may be inconsistent but when it's good, its amazing.

Another flaw is the release schedule and amount of content. This is honestly speaking a super short game. SO many studios have made SUBSTANTIALLY more content in a lot shorter of a time WIth all the delays it's amazing that the game is as short as it is, with only 2 pentrative sex scnes in the whole
game.

Another strength, the character writing outside of sex scenes. This is some of the best hypnosis I've ever seen in a game, with some...actually decent writing for the characters at times. At times this game legitimately impressed me with how we explore the personalities.

5. Finally, the biggest flaw...the stupid backstory. Everything involving"cat magic" was stupid. Everything the cat said or did, including being the father, was dumb, Some aspects of the characters backstories couild have been fleshed out too


Overall, yeah a mixed bag. The game could really use some fleshing out, but what IS there is good..a lot of the time I feel like this game could be really great with just a bit more effort put in. It ends up balancing out to a decent game with lots of potential. getting it an average score.

Oh yeah, the voice acting is hit or miss. Jane's VA is AMAZING, Everyone else sometimes fucks up their lines but for the most part, fitting enough...it definitely adds to the game in some parts

Snow daze is a very good corruption game.
Premise is you are a young guy with 3 sisters and a mother. After a snowstorm you start to hypnotize your family into submission.
I'm usually not a mind control fan but this game surprised me. The corruption was slow and nicely done. Plot is standard but the dialogue is excellent.
The 4 female leads are al voiced, which is amazing. Voice acting was very solid.
Art style is nice enough. Sex scenes are hot but very short. All 4 females have different fetishes.
There are choices in the game but no multiple game paths. Bad choices lead to bad endings. There is an ending for each girl, a neutral ending and harem ending. Personally, I feel that the game should have gone a little longer after you have brought one (or all) of the girls into submission. The endings were kinda abrupt.
But all in all a very nicely made mind control and incest VN.

the art and the voice acting are amazing, it's honestly hard to find games that compare to this one tbh. The story is actually pretty interesting, as these things go, and the "true" ending is hilarious because of the music they used.
