VN - Ren'Py - Completed - Snow Daze: The Music of Winter [v1.6] [Outbreak Games]

The following review is based off my personal experience with playing this Game/Visual Novel... I try to be as brutally honest and detailed as I can, and these are my own opinions and thoughts, from one or more play throughs... The version this review is based on is v9.20...

This is an interesting and sometime hilarious visual novel/game... Too bad it is pretty much focused on the over used Family Sex stuff...

The visuals are all 2D hand drawn for both the characters and backdrops... A few of the characters have over the top sized breasts for their body frames, but this whole VN/Game is pretty much over the top and appears to work towards being silly and humorous, even visually... During some erotic scenes, the protagonists penis is a disembodied one, which for me is a turn off... Throws off the immersion... The audio is very good...

The script is pretty spot on, as I rarely ran into any spelling/grammar errors... The plot revolves around a male protagonist musician who is stuck at home with his mother and 3 sisters during a heavy snow fall, which makes it impossible to leave the house for a while... His family pretty much treats him like dirt, and since he is a pervert at heart, he decides to get revenge... He invents and uses a special metronome that hypnotizes his whole family... He then slowly, over several days, corrupts his family into lots of various erotic encounters... His overall goal being to make his family members into sex slaves... He does eventually get caught, but I'll not spoil it much more beyond that...

There are a lot of decisions to be made, and sadly this game uses a lot of player punishment bad endings if the right choices are not made... There are hidden points for each character that the protagonist interacts with, and the more correct choices the protagonist makes, the more content becomes available, while avoiding bad endings... So, the down side to all this, is that unless you plan to use a lot of save game slots, it's almost better if you use a walkthrough to experience as much content as possible... Otherwise, expect to be saving and loading game over and over again... Because you have to be really clever and think about the choices you make... I tried it a couple times without the walkthrough, and got pretty far, but it took a heck of a lot of wasted time to do it...

There are multiple endings, one ending for each female character, and once all those have been achieved, a harem ending opens up... My advice is to save the game, once you get to the point where you have to select a single girl to completely enslave... So you can go back and see all the different endings, which will then open up the harem ending (the listed True Ending)... The choice for not enslaving anyone is a bad ending, obviously...

Overall, even though the main fetish of this VN/game is Family Sex, it was still a very fun and challenging game to go through... There are moments of silliness as well as humor, but some of the choices presented really do require some clever thinking, without a walkthrough... You can't just be a total pervert with all the choices, especially with certain characters... And how the story is told is pretty darn good...

I enjoyed trying to actually figure it out on my own, but it just took a very long time, with hitting bad endings now and then, to get through it... And most walkthroughs do not include all choices in the last couple game days... So you're gonna have to figure out something on your own, anyways... The harem ending, although shorter then the single woman endings, was so completely over the top, silly, and hilarious, it had me laughing out loud several times... I don't want to give it away, so I'll not go into details...

I'm very surprised this VN/game is still showing in development, because it feels very much completed... I played it once before back in Oct 2017, and it has definitely improved since then... It's a fun and crazy VN/game, not the best, but still pretty good... Will I revisit it? Only if it actually ends up getting more content worthy of a replay, but as it stands right now, it feels done, so not sure there would be a reason to replay it... Only time will tell...

On of the best VN with mind control/enslaving themes. But even apart from that the art style is amazing, story is somewhat engaging with likeble characters (Jane is probably hottest amongst them personally) and it all doesn't drag for too long. And best part of it all that it has great voice acting for all female characters in english! Considering that is VERY rare if not non-existent it makes this game a jewel of hentai VNs.

First off, kudos to the creator for finishing the game. That is a rare accomplishment. Whether you enjoy Snow Daze is probably down to personal taste. For me, it's a mixed bag.

The 2D art is really great, and it's what drew me in at first. Also, the hypnosis theme is very sexy. If you're not into mind control or incest material, this probably isn't for you. The game mechanics are simple and straightforward, with well-written and complex dialogue that must have been extremely time-consuming to map out. Good job.

The stuff I don't like: I really hate disembodied severed cocks floating around in the artwork - that's a sure way to break the mood (unless you're making a game about a magical sex slasher, I suppose). I wish the artist had simply found a way to incorporate the MC's complete body into the artwork. Although the voice acting is very well-done, voice audio tends to be too distracting for me, so I just turn it off. The sister subplot involving a puppy fetish was kind of silly and annoying.

Overall, this is recommended if you like great cartoons of voluptuous women and share the kinks the story is based on.

I love this Game. Character style and stories and outstanding but what really fascinated me is the voice output that Driving me crazy. I tested all 5 ends directly and when they were awesome.an extremely potent main character.

The Good-
Awesome premise: hits me right in the fetish!

Pretty strong dialogue. Some humor and good hypnotic induction. Dialogue during sexual situations seems rushed, but not bad. Too wordy later in the story.

Good art! But there should be a lot more of it, given the time between releases. Day 4 looks a bit different stylistically. I could be accustomed to previous days, but faces weren't as appealing.

The Bad-
Story Pacing: Mom and sisters transform over a period of 5 days, so there's not much time for slow, delicious corruption. (I admit this is a personal preference).
Day 4 is a departure because there's lots of lesbianism (not a bad thing) but very little foreshadowing.

Slow development time: There is a consistently long period between updates. (5-6 months is twice what it should be)

VA: It's not exactly bad, I guess. But the VA work didn't add anything for me personally. The younger sister's voice is the only one that is an actual turn-off. And there's volume control.

Overall- I have to downgrade this to Good. I really want to like the dev and have been a supporter in the past. It is worth supporting (sporadically), downloading and playing if hypnotism and incest are your thing. However, you'll be best served by waiting until the whole game is finished and released (if you can).

An excellent game, with good art, solid writing and a very jewish cat. I would absolutely recommend it.
