Just caught up with everything and couldn't agree with both you guys more. Porn is good and all, but we fell for the characters as they were first presented to us. No amount of bimbofication is going to change the fact that Babs is a gymnast with a decent level of wit and smarts. Or that Artemis is a spitfire who doesn't take crap from anyone.
I too remember the early days where there was a roadmap of story, that had obvious talent and a promise of an excellent game. Now it is, quite literally, a recycled machine that will have no end. There is only a shadow of a story remaining. When you take step back and look at it, it feels like a messy conglomerate of several different stories put together.
The art should not distract from the story, if anything they should help each other out. Furthermore, any excuse is just that. An excuse. You are not holding the creator to the original standard and merely excusing their behavior. And for what? I used to love this game. I'd do fanarts and sprite remixes, but once the quality dropped I no longer became invested. At least Akabur is still going strong and there are a few good projects out there like the Deluca Family.
